    Heavy Duty Driver (Permanent Appointment)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Secondary Education
    • Code EC driving licence with PDP
    • The incumbent must have at least 1-2 years' experience as a Heavy Duty Driver

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Knowledge of road traffic legislation: Understanding and application of relevant road traffic legislation, regulations, municipal policies, by-laws and safe driving procedures.
    • Heavy-duty vehicle operation: Ability to safely operate heavy-duty vehicles such as tipper trucks, trucks, and other specialised municipal vehicles, where applicable.
    • Communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, colleagues, members of the public and other road users.
    • Problem-solving: Ability to identify operational problems, respond appropriately to vehicle breakdowns, road hazards and emergencies, and report incidents through the correct channels.
    • Physical fitness and alertness: Ability to remain physically and mentally alert for extended periods and perform duties in outdoor environments and under varying weather and working conditions.

    DUTIES:

    • Performs specific tasks/ activities at the Depot or work sites prior to and on completion of allocated maintenance assignments
    • Inspecting safety devices, controls; lubricant levels; etc.; reporting defects and/ or attending to the washing/ cleaning of the plant
    • Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. inspection sheets; log sheet; progress report; etc.) and related forms (vehicle checklist)
    • Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy vehicles on site during civil maintenance activities
    • Driving and manoeuvring heavy plant and engaging controls to operate mechanisms to enable taking quarry and tipping sequences.

    Lifeguards Seasonal X8 (6 Months)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Matric Certificate
    • Pre-test lifeguards' certificate
    • Lifesaving Awards
    • 1 year experience in Lifeguard Environment
    • Valid Re-test Certificate
    • Preferred IRB Boat Certificate will serve as a recommendation
    • Valid first aid certificate

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

    • Good listening and group facilitation skill is recommended
    • Selection is subject to passing a physical fitness and swim test
    • Good interpersonal skills and fluent in speaking both English and Isizulu as well as willing to work under pressure and overtime as and when required.
    • The candidate must be a strong surf swimmer with good surf knowledge.
    • Good knowledge of all rescue equipment.

    DUTIES

    • Patrols public beach area to monitor activities of swimmers and prevent illegal conduct: Observes activities in assigned area on foot, in vehicle, or from tower or headquarters building with binoculars to detect hazardous conditions, such as swimmers in distress, disturbance, or safety infractions.
    • Cautions people against use of unsafe beach areas or illegal conduct, such as drinking or fighting, using megaphone
    • Rescues distressed persons from ocean or adjacent cliffs, using rescue techniques and equipment.
    • Examines injured individuals, administer first aid, and monitor vital sign, utilizing training, antiseptics, bandages and instruments such as stethoscope and sphygmomanometer.
    • Administers artificial respiration, utilizing cardiopulmonary or mouth-to-mouth methods, or provides oxygen to revive persons.
    • Compiles emergency and medical treatment report forms and maintains daily information on weather and beach conditions.
    • Occasionally operates switchboard or two-way radio system to maintain contact and coordinate activities between emergency rescue units.

    Traffic Officer

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • Traffic Officer Diploma and Registration Certificate Obtained from an Institute for Traffic Policing Training.
    • Registered as a Traffic Officer
    • Must have no Criminal Record or Criminal Case Pending
    • Valid Code B Driver's License
    • SAPS firearm competency certificate
    • 2-3 Traffic Policing Experience.

    SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

    • Knowledge and application of traffic legislation: Understanding and applying relevant national and provincial road traffic legislation, regulations, municipal by-laws, traffic rules and enforcement procedures.
    • Traffic law enforcement: Ability to identify and respond to traffic offences, conduct lawful enforcement activities, issue traffic notices and summonses, and take appropriate action within the limits of legal authority.
    • Communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly, confidently and professionally with motorists, pedestrians, colleagues and members of the public, including handling difficult or confrontational situations appropriately.
    • Integrity and ethical conduct: Ability to perform duties honestly, impartially and professionally, comply with applicable legislation and municipal policies, and avoid corruption, favoritism or abuse of authority._
    • Physical fitness and alertness: Ability to perform duties that require prolonged  standing,  walking,  directing  traffic,  working  outdoors and responding quickly to incidents while maintaining a high level of physical and mental alertness.

    DUTIES:

    • Interprets and Obtains Clarification on the tragic policing programme and prepares requirements to enable execution of duties.
    • Co-Ordinate Specific activities associated with controlling traffic flow and public safety
    • Monitors the local area and responds to acts or situations/behavior deemed to be inappropriate or non-conformance with the road traffic safety and license regulations
    • Enforces specific reports, statutory documentation, and registers
    • Completes specific reports, statutory documentation, and registers
