    Senior Associate, Risk & Compliance - CPT

    Description

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    • This key role has a functional reporting line to the Head of Risk & Compliance in South Africa. The role also includes regular interaction with other key stakeholders based primarily within the South African Offices, when dealing with a variety of compliance duties and risk management responsibilities.

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    •  To assist the Risk & Compliance team in maintaining and executing the compliance monitoring programme, on a risk weighted basis. 
    •  To provide support to the Risk & Compliance department and assist employees in complying with applicable regulatory and internal requirements by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring and reporting on compliance risks facing the organization.
    •  To assist the Heads of Risk and Compliance, South Africa , in any risk and compliance matters as deemed necessary.

     
    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Work with the Risk and Compliance department in South Africa to:
    •  Ensure the effective implementation of the compliance monitoring programme in conjunction with Group monitoring teams.
    •  Ensure the compliance monitoring programme covers applicable internal and external requirements, and remains current in line with business risks and/or regulatory changes.
    •  Ensure the compliance monitoring programme testing is conducted in a timely manner and on a risk based approach.
    •  Identify and incorporate changes to the monitoring programme and feed into Combined Risk Assessment development as appropriate upon identification of new and changed risks.
    •  Manage and proactively work with stakeholders on any findings identified, providing sound advice as to the nature and appropriateness of any remediation actions in conjunction with related risks.
    •  Ensure escalation of any higher risk findings to the Head of Risk & Compliance, as they arise.
    •  Ensure that any remediation or follow up actions are monitored and closed in a timely manner.
    •  Work with internal audit regarding oversight of compliance monitoring activities.
    •  Monitor the efficiency and consistency of compliance controls and assist with the enhancement of procedures and controls.
    •  Assist with the preparation of compliance reports to management, various committees and governance structures within the Group.
    •  Assist with the preparation of reports and regulatory submissions to regulatory authorities.
    •  Perform any ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time to assist the Risk and Compliance department in meeting its regulatory obligations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    •  Required: Degree level qualification, or equivalent, ideally in Business, Finance, Law or Compliance and Risk Management or relevant qualification as per the FSCA’s approved qualifications list.
    •  Regulatory Examinations (RE1, RE3, RE5) an advantage.
    •  Preferable: Compliance qualification and/or Anti-Money Laundering/Financial Crime qualification.
    •  Advantageous: FAIS approved Compliance Officer for Category I and Category II Financial Services Providers.

    EXPERIENCE

    •  Required: At least 3 years compliance/risk/legal work experience in the Financial Services sector.
    •  Preferred: investment related (Category II FSP) and fiduciary/trust experience (Category I FSP).
    •  Good working knowledge of FAIS, CISCA, FICA, POPIA and a solid knowledge of the South African Regulatory Environment in the Financial Services sector.

    Senior Investment Accountant - CPT

    Description    
    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The primary purpose of the role is to support the investment reporting team both for onshore and offshore clients and to support the administration needs of the client managers and the portfolio analysts.

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    • This role reports to the Head of Investment Accounting South Africa based in Cape Town and has a strong working relationship with the Investment team across all offices in Stonehage Fleming. Other working relationships include general Stonehage Fleming Relationship Managers, Fiduciary Accountants, external investment managers and linked investment service providers.

     
    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    •  Delivery of high quality service that is both accurate, timeous and of high quality w.r.t. reporting. Daily reconciliation of private equity investments, script review and upload into our system along with the ability to understand the cause of exceptions in order to resolve. Investment trade coordination: follow up to completion, liaising and following up with 3rd party investment providers (execution team). Ability to manage client investments transactional requirements: Data collating from various local and offshore custodians, contributions, withdrawals, coordinating payment requests, ensure cash requirements are met, basic trade preparation for cash flow top-ups, ensure custodial fee accounts topped up at all times, assisting with collating of contract notes relating to corporate actions and reconciling client portfolio’s. Ensure that appropriate controls are in place and performing daily controls to mitigate risk, improving systems efficiency and taking initiative to improve efficiencies wherever possible. Supporting the management and coordinating of team deliverables relating to projects and new client take-on’s. Handling queries efficiently to ensure resolution of both internal and external client queries (in conjunction with the client relationship management team on monthly statements, valuations, deal with selected billing, tax reporting requirements. Assist in daily, monthly and quarterly Investment Review processes. Administrative problem solving and efficiency creation in the admin space. Liaising with 3rd party service providers and with various business contacts, including banks and custodians. Draft general correspondence. Maintain filing database including daily filing of client documents, contract notes and valuations and bank statements. Ability to work both from the office and home on a set weekly schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Com Accounting/Commerce/Finance) with accounting and investment insight.
    • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience in similar or Fund Accounting positions.
    • Managing a team.

    SKILLS

    •  Proficiency in MS Office Telephonic confidence Ability to understand accounting software or reporting software, with experience in Advent, Business Central and ETL processes being beneficial

    Middle Office - Client Services - CPT

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    This position reports to the Team Leader Middle Office - South Africa. The role involves close interaction with the Relationship Management, Investment Management, Client Reporting, Business Systems Support, Finance, and Compliance departments, as well as colleagues within the greater Stonehage Fleming Group.

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The individual will fully support the client facing teams in ensuring data entry respects Stonehage Fleming's standards, accuracy and confidentiality of information recorded. They will also undertake various projects.

    Key Responsibilities    
    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Collect, update and maintain client static data in our in house integrated system
    • Undertake and coordinate data cleansing exercises
    • Keep procedures/checklists up to date for the various data entry we perform and all tasks related to Terms and Conditions
    • Various projects depending on the needs of the business
    • Provide general administrative support and be responsible for filing

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • National Diploma / Higher Certificate / Further studies that can be beneficial to the financial industry
    • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in an administrative position
    • Experience working for a fiduciary services provider and / or STEP qualification would be advantageous

    SKILLS

    • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Organisational skills with the aptitude to stay focused on assigned tasks
    • Ability to keep confidentiality with regards to client matters
