Database Analyst/BI Developer Team Lead
Spatial Dimension (a Trimble Geospatial Company) is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented Business Intelligence Developer/Database Analyst to lead the Data and Business Intelligence team.
Your primary responsibilities would be leading the Cape Town team of database analysts/BI developers in their pursuit of implementing our Enterprise level COTS product in both the corporate and government markets. The variety of tasks cover ETL migration, consulting, reporting and business intelligence. You would also be responsible for your own output of said tasks.
We are looking for someone with a love of all things data, an appreciation of well-represented aggregations and ardent attention to detail.
The ideal candidate would have Enterprise or Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) implementation experience, worked in diverse teams in different locations and ideally led a team.

Exposure to Business Intelligence tools (outside of SSRS)
Microsoft Office

Trimble Land Administration - Technical Services
The Technical Services department is involved in a wide range of technical activities that span all stages of the client engagement life-cycle, from new business development through project implementation and long-term customer support. The department is composed of smaller teams that specialise in one or more technologies or systems, while working collaboratively across teams to achieve collective goals and customer success. These include:
Landfolio Software Setup and Support
Provisioning new servers, databases, software installation and initial configuration.
User support and troubleshooting
IT Infrastructure Management
Setting up new and maintaining existing servers, predominantly using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Installing and supporting our core technologies and enterprise applications such as Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), SQL Server, SharePoint and Esri ArcGIS.
Software Development
Using the Microsoft .Net technology stack to create client-specific software solutions that integrate with our core products, Landfolio Back-office and Portal.
Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Data preparation and manipulation for input into Landfolio maps and spatial analysis engine, or display in online maps.
Creation of maps for display in Landfolio via ArcGIS for Server, in map portals through ArcGIS Online, or in reports through SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Data, Reporting and Analytics
Data imports into Microsoft SQL Server using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Data warehousing.
Reporting using Microsoft’s SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Business Intelligence dashboards using Power BI and other technologies.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
Completed a tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) in Geomatics, GIS or similar.
Worked for 2-4 years in an environment that uses GIS extensively.
Used Esri’s ArcGIS technologies for desktop.
Preferably, also worked with ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online.
A strong work ethic; committed to getting the job done right and to the best of their abilities.
The ability to learn & take on new challenges.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
An analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving and finding solutions.
Flexibility and adaptability - as part of a global organization that operates in various time zones.
Be based in Cape Town.
