    Business Intelligence Developer

    Job Specification

    • We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Business Intelligence Developer to join our team in to help drive out Reporting and BI solutions. As a BI Developer, you will be responsible for the BI and Reporting solutions of a part of our global business. Collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative data-driven solutions. You will leverage your expertise in BI and Reporting to develop and implement ETL, reporting and dashboards solutions. If you are a seasoned BI practitioner with exceptional BI and reporting writing skills and have a proven track record of driving out optimized solutions, we want to hear from you.

    Competensies

    • Proficient in reporting writing tools such as SSRS, dashboarding tools like PowerBI.
    • Solid understanding of relational databases, Microsoft T-SQL.
    • Solid understanding of ETL processes.
    • Understanding of scheduling tools such as control-m.
    • Fundamental understanding of basic warehouse concepts.
    • Knowledge and understanding of performance tuning of complex SQL queries.

    Responsibilities

    Report solutioning

    • Work with both Business Analysts and business owners to development new reports and dashboards and the enhancement of existing reports and dashboards.

    Performance tuning

    • Performance tuning of stored procedures and reports

    Production Support

    • Investigate production reporting issues and help business their understand their data.

    ETL Maintenance and Enhancements

    • Maintaining and enhance current ETL processes using various ETL tools

    After Hours Standby Support

    • Be on regular after-hour stand-by support for the data warehouse loads.

    Adherence to standards, processes and procedures

    • Ensure that development standards and processes are followed according to Apex’s best practices.

    Qualifications and requirements 

    • A degree or diploma (3 years) with majors Information Systems or Computer Science.
    • A good working knowledge of IT systems in a corporate environment.
    • At least 3-5 years of solid SQL Server development experience, with proficiency in report writing skills.  This includes but not limited to building complex stored procedures, functions, and views. 
    • At least 5 years’ experience in building integration solutions independently.
    • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including an ability to work independently from the business analyst team when appropriate.
    • A high tolerance for ambiguity as requirements is not always clear at the start of a project and can change as users and analysts start to see the data.
    • Self-starter who can take the initiative to learn new technologies independently and not just wait to be sent on training.
    • Solid time management and communication skills essential.
    • Ability to multi-task and to work on multiple project streams simultaneously.
    • High personal integrity.

    Preferred skills but not essential

    • Scheduling tools such as Control-m
    • Exposure to cloud based BI and ETL solutions and services
    • Familiarity with financial services industry regulations and compliance.

    Specialist, Risk Assessment and Framework

    Description

    • The role holder is a member of the Risk Framework team within the Group’s Risk Function. As part of this central team, the role holder is responsible for ongoing analysis of key risk information, including indicators, incidents, control assurance activity and audits, and meticulous scrutiny and oversight of the outputs in comparison to Business Risk Assessment outputs and actions. 
    • The role would suit a Risk Manager with a good theoretical understanding and practical implementation of a Risk Management Framework (RMF), principally risk assessment, control framework, key risk indicators, and risk data analysis.

    Job specification 

    • Analysis and use of various sources to inform, and/or challenge, the risk and control environment status at a Group, Functional and local level.
    • Validation of key information source accuracy. E.g., suitability and monitoring of key risk indicators and associated thresholds and limits.
    • Partnership with Local Risk Management to support proactive risk management, through accurate and timely risk assessments, and control adequacy.   
    • Material support and input into the Group level Risk Assessment, including the formal annual assessment, ongoing monitoring and quarterly Group Risk Committee reporting.
    • Adapting the risk assessment approach to suit local needs without compromising the overarching RMF principles and minimum standards.
    • Drive risk assessment efficiency and quality improvements, with a particular focus on controls and associated management information and data.
    • Act as support and cover for Risk Management Framework roles.
    • Business continuity framework support, including oversight of Business Impact Assessments and Business Continuity Plans.

    Skills Required:

    • 2-3 years’ experience of risk assessment and/or risk management information analytics.
    • A degree level qualification in Risk management or equivalent.
    • Practical experience of control frameworks, and key risk indicators.
    • Strong analytical, written, verbal, presentation and organizational skills, including Microsoft Office tools.
    • Experience of risk management in a Fund Administration environment is preferred but not essential.
    • A Risk Management qualification is desirable but not essential

    • Strong interpersonal, listening and collaboration skills with an ability to interact, manage and influence stakeholders.
