    Assistant Manager Nursing Specialty- Advanced Midwifery (PNB4) (Readvertisement)

    Requirements :

    • Basic R425 (i.e. Diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • A post basic qualification in Health Service Management/Nursing Administration registered with SANC.
    • Proof of current registration with SANC. A post basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least one year accredited with SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
    • A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
    • At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate /recognizable experience in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
    • At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery.
    • Demonstrate basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues, including more complex report writing when required. Work effectively and amicably at a supervisory level, with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial, or religious differences. Able to manage own work, time and that of junior colleagues to ensure proper nursing service in the unit.
    • Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho Pele.
    • Able to develop contacts, build and maintain a network of professional relations in order to enhance service delivery. Demonstrate basic computer literacy as a support to enhance service delivery.
    • Understanding of Nursing Core Values, National Core Standards, Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control.

    Duties :

    • Delegate, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Participate in health promotion to ensure consistent communication of relevant accurate and comprehensive information on health care.
    • Formulation, monitoring and control of the strategic, operational and business plan of the units within area of responsibility. Implement and monitor quality assurance programmes within area of responsibility.
    • Coordination of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care provided within set standards and a professional/legal framework. Manage effectively the utilization and supervision of resources
    • Coordination of the provision of effective training and research. Provision of effective support to Nursing Services, do relief duties (calls) as required by the service. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
    • Participate in Perinatal Problem Identification Program (PPIP), CHIPP. Support Quality Assurance Program.

    Professional Nurse Specialty Operating Theatre Nursing Science

    Requirements :

    • Grade 12, Basic Diploma/Degree accredited with SANC in terms of R425 that allows with registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, plus a post-basic nursing qualification with duration of 1 year accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice No. R212 in the relevant speciality Operating Theatre Nursing Science.
    • A minimum of 4 or14 years appropriate/recognise able experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
    • At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty.

    Duties :

    • Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards.
    • Promote quality of nursing care directed by the professional scope of practice and standards. Demonstrate effective communication with supervisors and other clinicians including report writing. Work as part of the multidisciplinary teams (must be prepared to work overtime, shifts including nights/day, weekends and public holidays).
    • Able to plan and organise own work and that of support personnel. Display concern of patients needs, requirements and expectation. Work effectively, co-operatively, amicably with persons of diverse social backgrounds. Participate in the analysis, formulation of Nursing guidelines, norms and guidelines.
    • Ensure implementation and promotion of Qualiti Assurance programmes (complains and patients safety Management), Infection, Prevention & control and health and safety Principles.
    • Promote Quality of nursing care as directed by Ideal Hospital Realisation & Maintenance framework and Office of Health Standard Compliance. Participate in the Hospital operational plans.

    Professional Nurse Specialty Child Nursing Science

    Requirements :

    • Grade 12, Basic Diploma/Degree accredited with SANC in terms of R425 that allows with registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, plus a post-basic nursing qualification with duration of 1 year accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice No. R212 in the relevant speciality CHILD NURSING SCIENCE.
    • A minimum of 4 or 14 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
    • At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty.
