    Welding Specialist (x2)

    Purpose of Job

    • To provide welding and fabrication coordination by organising resources in the delivering quality control, quality assurance, fabrication, welding, heat treatment and the use of service providers.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Monitor on site on RWS, compiling a bill of material and planning;
    • Approve ,scope and plan all notification, ensure execution of each Permit system 100% compliance:
    • Keep to -3% budgets for the NDT conducted and hired labour and heat treatment;
    • Minimize budget of welding consumables and materials(store) to be ordered;
    • Ensure that work standards are met according to quality standards & compliance;
    • Coordination with the field subcontractors for all welding procedures specifications and procedures qualification reports;
    • Elaborating and coordinating the welding specifications , and codes/standards;
    • Review course and effects of welding defects and take remedial actions;
    • Coordination with the third party NDT inspection company;
    • Review of the radiographic films and all NDT reports on a daily basis;
    • Reviewing the inspection and testing methods and procedures for inspections;
    • Monitor any post weld heat treatment on site/shop & review the completed chart;
    • Coordinating all relevant documents for the RWS for the job to proceed (approved ABC stamped drawings ,heat treatment procedures, approved WPS ,qualified welder ,BOM for materials to be used;
    • Make sure that all welds are quality engineering welds according to codes requirements;
    • Apply safety in all practices, specifically project planning and execution;
    • Communicate and behave professionally so that actions result in high level of credibility, trust and respect;
    • Develop effective manager and peer working relationships in other departments;
    • Ensure that work and projects (RWS) plans meets the technical and professional objectives;
    • Take ownership for personal improvement and skills development;
    • Ensure that personal development plan is completed, implemented and tracked;
    • Apply the learning experience at the workplace;
    • Agree and review personal performance goals and the achievement thereof;
    • Set and work towards own performance targets and goals as per personal performance agreement;
    • Update performance goals and performance agreement regularly;
    • Review compliance and follow up against the standards and objectives;

    • Adheres to standard procedures and practices with guidance.

    Fomal Education

    • High School / School Diploma or Similar
    • Welding related trade with 2 years experience as Artisan.
    • National Senior Certificate with English, Math’s & Physical Science SG/HG or N3 equivalent to Grade 12
    • SAIW Level 2 Inspection or SAIW Level 2 supervisors
    • ASME codes (Wish)
    • In total a minimum of 24 months as a Welding Specialist / Quality Specialist

    Working Experience

    • Minimum of 05 years of experience

    Snr Technician Mechanical

    Purpose of Job

    • A technician plays a vital role in providing technical support to maintenance managers, foremen, peers, engineers, and technologists, focusing on problem identification and resolution. Key responsibilities include driving operational improvements to enhance plant and equipment reliability and integrity.
    • Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing short-, medium-, and long-term projects, demonstrating expertise in Equipment Maintenance Strategies, and developing and implementing QA/QC systems.
    • The role also requires availability for standby duties, as well as working overtime and during shutdowns when necessary. The technician will report directly to the Area Manager.

    Key Accountabilities

    • In addition to a pre-employment medical examination, some positions may require a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria.
    • Driver’s license and personal transport for standby duties.
    • Candidate must stay in close vicinity to the plant to be able perform standby duties.
    • Sound knowledge of multistage pumps, steam turbines, axial and centrifugal compressors.
    • Sound knowledge of piping and pressurized equipment, including the scheduling of inspection strategies and co-ordination of repairs.

    Fomal Education

    • Senior National Certificate (with English, Math’s & Physical Science).
    • National Diploma (mechanical engineering).

    Working Experience

    • Must have a minimum of 6 years relevant technician experience with a B Tech Mechanical Engineering.
    • Must have 7 years relevant experience with a Diploma Mechanical Engineering.
    • Demonstrate the desired behaviors in agreement with the Sasol Values.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.  
    • Preferably Sasol experience as technician.
    • High Level of computer Literacy.

    Chief Foreman

    Purpose of Job

    • To manage the engineering maintenance processes within the appointed area of responsibility to enable various mining teams to reach production targets within the principles of QCDSM

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage and carry out engineering and maintenance strategies and overhaul plans on a day to day basis that ensure that departments KPI's are met deliver maintenance, if and when to replace / repair equipment.
    • Manage maintenance cost vs R/t in appointed area Maintenance budget
    • Ensure availability of equipment by effectively managing downtime / shift / MTTF / MTTR (infrastructure and inspection equipment).
    • Ensure adherence to maintenance programme.
    • Implements operational projects, ensures engineering compliance, develops and implements engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOP in appointed area of responsibility.
    • Ensures adherence to Engineering principles and legislation.
    • Compliance to engineering governance bodies (standardisation committees) SOP / COP implementation and adherence.
    • Assess economics / engineering viability of no major engineering business cases and provides specific, inspection expertise and coaching.
    • Managing third-party service delivery.
    • Manage delivery against OE initiatives.
    • Carry out condition monitoring programs in appointed area of responsibility.
    • Compliance to Condition monitoring program schedules.
    • Conduct failure trend analysis and root cause elimination.
    • Execution of Predictive Maintenance recommendations (backlog).
    • Support departments to achieve set targets by coordinating planning within appointed area of responsibility.
    • Control costs to ensure production volumes are achieved within budget.
    • Ensure best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain required RCR.

    Specialist: Electrical

    Purpose of Job

    • Ensure that the electrical field of expertise in Civil Engineering Maintenance (specifically lifting stations (525V)) and Building Maintenance scope) are executed according to the specifications and agreed scope of work. Management of Service Providers according to the contract. Provide technical guidance, advice and support for the QA/QC Civil Engineering Maintenance Ensure sound engineering and service delivered safely. Advice and guide Business Partners (e.g. Sasol Energy Operations and Sasol Mining) in areas of technical fields of expertise. Liaise with multiple disciplines on maintenance work coordination and execution Advise on technical field of expertise during shutdown and maintenance work, refurbishment and new constructions. Review and support with technical skills in maintenance project execution. Approve work quality and quantities according to specifications and QCP Deliver and maintain specific standards and specifications for technical discipline: Electrical maintenance Develop and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

    The scope typically includes but is not limited to the following:

    • COC for buildings and other electrical installations and maintenance,
    • COC and maintenance and installation of electrical panels and supply for domestic sewer lifting stations and other civil engineering infrastructure (typically 525V)
    • lifting stations (includes civils, mechanical pumps and electrical panels),
