    Business Analyst

    The Role:

    • We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Business Analyst to join our IT & Delivery Team. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and business stakeholders, to deliver enterprise projects and business improvement solutions.
    • This role requires a deep understanding of investment platforms, financial products, and technology, with a strong focus on requirements gathering, process analysis, and solution design. In addition, a key area of focus will be automation of business processes using technologies such as AI, robotics and toolsets such as python. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in Business Analysis methodologies, a solid understanding of the asset management/investment industry and preferably experience in automation of business processes.

    The duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

    Process Discovery & Analysis:

    • Proactively engage with various business departments (Investment Ops, Middle Office, Compliance, Risk, etc.) to deeply understand, document, and map existing 'as-is' business processes, workflows, and data flows using appropriate standards.
    • Perform thorough root cause analysis to identify manual, repetitive, high-volume, error-prone, or costly processes and bottlenecks across enterprise projects.
    • Quantify the potential impact, costs, and benefits (ROI) of automating and applying AI to identified opportunities.
    • Stay up to date with trends and regulatory changes in the investment & financial services space, providing insights to inform enhancements and de-risking of business activities.
    • Ensure that all enhancements and new developments comply with industry regulations and internal risk management standards.

    Solution Design & Requirement Gathering:

    • Translate complex business problems and inefficiency into clear, functional, and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
    • Design and document innovative 'to-be' processes that leverage automation (RPA, Python bots) and AI/ML capabilities.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders, software engineers, and data scientists to create practical and scalable technical solution architectures.

    Automation & AI Delivery:

    • Provide input and participate in the end-to-end project lifecycle for automation and AI implementations.
    • Ensure all developed solutions are robust, well-documented, scalable, and comply with operational risk and control frameworks.

    Stakeholder Management & Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact between business users and technical delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Present compelling business cases, process maps, requirement specifications, and solution designs to diverse audiences, including senior business leadership.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations, provide regular project updates, and proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.

    Quality Assurance & Project Support:

    • Develop test plans, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensure solutions meet all specified business requirements and quality standards before deployment.
    • Monitor the performance and track the benefits of implemented solutions, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and further optimization
    • Support the Projects Team in project planning, tracking, and management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
    • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in the financial services industry with at least 7 years of experience.
    • Experience in leading or participating in process automation (RPA) or AI/ML-driven projects will be advantageous
    • Experience with other automation tools (Python), data visualization software (e.g., Power BI/Tableau), or low-code platforms is a plus.
    • Specific Certification in Business Analysis is a plus.
    • Proven experience working on platform development projects, ideally within an investment environment.
    • Solid understanding of investment products, trading systems, and financial instruments.
    • Proficiency in requirements gathering and analysis methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall approaches.
    • Familiarity with SQL, APIs, system integration, data analysis, and automation tools such as Python is a plus.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex business processes and systems.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies.
    • Experience working with development teams and translating business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

    Senior Retirement & Life Fund Accountant

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    • We are looking for a Senior Retirement & Life Fund Accountant, to join a team of six like-minded, high performing individuals.
    • You’ll be responsible to assist and support the effective running of Fund & Life Accounting team and meet its deliverables; provide an oversight and review role in daily activities team functions; execute daily duties to the fulfilment of reporting requirements.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ability to produce, and resolve stakeholder queries on, completed set of financial statements and backing schedules in accordance with Pension Funds Act, including fully reconciled asset and liability matching, within deadline
    • Ability to produce and resolve stakeholder queries on SARB, C48, Regulation 28 and ASISA reporting, within deadline
    • Assist in the preparation of MI Reporting.
    • Ability to produce and resolve stakeholder queries on completed set of management accounts and backing schedules in accordance with IFRS principles as it relates to all products offered by the LISP, including retirement fund products and life products
    • Responsible for the collation and submission of all tax reporting due on behalf of the LISP to SARS. These include DWT, EMP201, EMP501, IT3b, IT3c, IT3s, RA [INS] Contributions/ FACTA, within deadline
    • Responsible for ensuring critical bulk runs are initiated and finalised properly
    • Responsible for the management of relationships with investment management companies including but not limited to SLA management, fund loading, balloting, exception handling, Manco reporting
    • Provide operation support to other business units as and when required.
    • Daily preparation/ review and authorisation of trade instructions and confirmations, banking, bank reconciliations, unit reconciliations and corporate actions
    • Manage stakeholder relationships and successful deliverables related to the LISP operations and regulatory requirements. These stakeholders include but are not limited to, management companies, auditors, SARS, SARB, FSCA, ASISA, internal management and Group Exco
    • Assist and support the Team Lead in the direction, collaboration, and implementation of initiatives to further the wider department and Sygnia group strategic objectives
    • Continuously work toward the implementation of processes and controls that fosters an effective Fund Accounting environment

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Newly qualified CA(SA) or PA(SA), or eligible to register with professional body having passed all professional examinations
    • Completed and signed off articles
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Retirement Life Fund Accountant or similar role
    • Exposure to LISP / Employee benefits environment a distinct advantage
    • Knowledge of Pension Fund Act, IFRS, Income Tax Act, Long Term Insurance Act, CISCA, JSE regulations
    • Advanced MS Excel skills
