    Resident Engineers - (ENG-L6)

    Overall, Purpose:  

    • Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is currently looking for Engineer’s Representatives (Resident Engineers) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project’s environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.  

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering  
    • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Registration with ECSA
    • Pr CMP Registration with SACPCMP will be an advantage
    • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in construction and/or projects site supervision
    • Experience as Engineer’s Representative on SANRAL project/s is required
    • Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) 
    • Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC) will be beneficial
    • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
    • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
    • Excellent client relation skills

    In addition to the above, the Applicant is required to submit his experience on three of his most recent projects (<10 years ago) in line with the parameters below:

    Relevance of Experience (Client)

    • The experience should be with Client bodies being either South African National Roads Authority and/or Concessionaire and/or Provincial Authority (indicate relevant client body for each of three projects).

    Relevance of Experience (Project Type)

    • The Applicant is required to have experience as the Engineer’s Representative (Resident Engineer) in “Development” Improvement” (Road upgrades) and/or “Development New Facilities” (New Road Infrastructure projects) (indicate relevant project type for each of three projects). Structural Experience would be beneficial.

    Project Delivery

    • Supervise all construction and installation activities on site and monitoring contractor's progress
    • Technical input to the progress reports on all works being carried out at the site, and offer regular update on progress and measurements for work complete
    • Review and monitor equipment, site staff and work methods, identify deficiency of performance before the occurrence of delays and quality issues.
    • Manage and report on all commercial matters: Contractor’s invoice, issue Non-Conformance Reports, Site Instructions, record and justify delays or claims, variation ordered, address non-conformance and discrepancies
    • Ensure site work, laboratory tests and designs are carried out in accordance with specification requirements, codes, and standards, HSE regulations.
    • Ensure proper record keeping of all corresponding information are maintained up to date
    • Manage operation and staff on site.
    • Ensure strict safety and security regulations compliance, and that environmental protection measures during construction are properly carried out.
    • Support Contracts Engineer and Client in delivering project in line with requirement, time frame and meets quality requirement

    Senior Materials Technician

    Role:  

    • Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is currently looking for Senior Materials Technician (SMT’s) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the project’s environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.  

    Minimum Requirements

    • Minimum of 20 Years’ experience in the Materials Field without any qualification, or N.Dip in Civil Engineering with minimum of 10 Years’ experience in the Materials Field, or Pr Techni Eng with minimum of 5 Years’ experience in the Materials Field

    Senior BIM Coordinator (Water)

    • The BIM Coordinator will work closely with Modellers, Drafters, Technicians and Technologists to establish sound digital practices and develop workflows, in-house design tools and good practice guidelines to ensure the successful delivery of our digital offering on projects.

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Overall accountable for the successful implementation of BIM processes and standards on all projects delivered by the Water business unit.
    • Organise and lead weekly interdisciplinary model coordination meetings to resolve.
    • interface issues and maintain consistent Level of Information Need (LOIN)
    • Establish project BIM coordination & collaboration strategy via workflow diagrams.
    • Initiate and maintain cadence of model federation with all project stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
    • Work closely with the BIM Manager and/or discipline leads to apply innovation by leading the development of new tools within existing software and investigate the use of other software to complement or replace existing software to increase productivity.
    • Support the BIM Manager and/or discipline leads in developing in-house digital tools such as scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive models and processes.
    • Capture improvements to or expansion of the Zutari baseline content library and feed back into data platform and content templates.
    • Develop suitable training material for the water unit on the software applications and processes.
    • Assess all Modellers and Drafters digital skills and develop a training plan for each individual.
    • Provide training for Modellers and Drafters on the software packages and processes.
    • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical disciplines
    • Work closely with Technicians, Technologists, and Engineers.
    • Develop Revit families, 3D part libraries and standard details.
    • Interpret engineering design sketches and drawings.
    • Interpret as-built drawings of brownfields infrastructure.
    • Managing and checking the quality of deliverables, specifically models and 2D drawings.
    • Maintain digital models and project records in accordance with Zutari’s quality management system.
    • Evaluate and test BIM technologies/workflows as required by the project and ISO19650.
    • Collaborate with the IT team/BIM Manager/discipline leads to address technical challenges in relation to BIM software and collaboration platforms at start of and during project.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum qualifications: Diploma / Certificate in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or 3D digital design or equivalent qualification in a digital discipline.
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in 3D modelling and use of 3D modelling software.
    • A willingness to learn and investigate technological systems.
    • A strong interest in working on innovative and complex projects.

    Preference will be given to applicants who:

    • Possess a tertiary level qualification in an Engineering discipline.
    • Possess previous experience in the water industry (bulk conveyance, pump stations, treatment plants, dams, and hydropower).

    BIM Modeller

    • We are seeking a Structural modeler to join our bridge team in Tshwane. The candidate will work with our engineering team to produce detailed design documentation for bridges and other civil structures on international projects.

    Role responsibilities

    • Collaborate with structural engineers to develop detailed designs and documentation for bridges and other structural projects.
    • Create and maintain Revit models, drawings, and details for structures / bridge projects.
    • Ensure that the details developed are technically feasible.
    • Produce accurate and complete construction documents that meet project requirements and standards.
    • Review and check drafting work to ensure accuracy and completeness of project documentation.
    • Communicate with project team members to ensure effective project coordination.

    Civil Design Modeller

    Role Introduction

    • Our Global Design Centre (GDC) Water team are recruiting to support a key Australian client who has a growing water business. Specifically, the team is looking for engineering modellers who wish to pursue a digital design modelling career on water infrastructure projects.
    • The core civil design modelling and drafting software for the team is Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk AutoCAD – competence in these applications is a primary requirement for the role.
    • The team also operates Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Plant 3D and Autodesk Inventor for structural and mechanical designs, but these are not primary requirements for this role.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Responsible for project drafting delivery and output of drawings within quality, time, and budget constraints.
    • Developing and generating 3D civil engineering models such as surfaces, corridors and pipeline networks.
    • Developing civil drawings, specifically for water infrastructure projects.
    • Understand 3D modelling and utilise Autodesk Civil 3D and InfraWorks to produce engineering models and drawing outputs for the engineering team.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Relevant Qualification in Modelling, and/or Draughting
    • Minimum of at least 5 years or more experience as a civil engineering Draughtsperson within the civil, mining, industrial or structural engineering fields.
    • Experience in the drafting and or design of typical civil infrastructure, i.e. bulk earthworks, roads, stormwater, water pipelines and/or sewer pipelines.

    Principal Civil Engineer – Stormwater Modelling and Water Sensitive Urban Design

    • The successful incumbent will join the Urban Water team in Zutari and will be based either in Cape Town or Tshwane, South Africa. He/she will be a Senior Engineer with the following key skills and responsibilities:

    Engineers Representative

    What You Will Be Doing?

    • We are actively seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Resident Engineer/Engineers Representative (Renewable Energy). In this position you will join our Transport business on a fixed-term contract employment basis, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of transport related projects.
    • The projects will entail providing Professional Services as the Owners Engineer for the Construction phase of Renewable Energy Projects. These projects are located in Limpopo and Free State provinces and will require support for Balance of Plant for period between 6 and 12 months.

    Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’:

    • This role will report to the Civil Lead Engineer as the Engineers Representative.
