    Explosives Operator Gr 1 Cord Plant x5

    Purpose of Job

    • To manufacture detonator cord at the Prima Cord environment

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • To produce detonating cord of different sizes through different stations from C1 to C6.
    • Take powder charge according to cord specification using the correct formula
    • Set up the machines according to the product needed using the correct tooling.
    • Recording of log sheets and production tags for traceability
    • Take out samples from each spool for quality check
    • General house keeping
    • Quality inspection, packing, labelling of final product. Record production quantities
    • To do a proper start-up before the beginning of the shift and a proper shut-down at the end of the week or when required
    • Have a full understanding of Epex methodology.
    • Be able to work under pressure
    • Be able to work full shifts and overtime
    • Consciences and diligent

    Formal Education

    Laboratory Technician

    Purpose of Job

    • The purpose of this role is to successfully execute maintenance on laboratory equipment and provide expert assistance to the laboratory team.

    Key Accountabilities

    Functional / Technical:

    • Ensure optimal maintenance of laboratory equipment, including implementation of maintenance strategies, troubleshooting, fault finding and repairing breakdowns.
    • Coordination of external support to ensure timeous instrument calibration and services.
    • Maintain appropriate levels of critical spares and consumables to reduce instrument downtime.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects and/or requests with different priorities.
    • Involved in site preparation and commissioning of new laboratory instruments.
    • Coordinate MOC processes for lab projects, new instrument installation and general lab infrastructure changes.
    • Assist Lab Managers to compile instrument maintenance budget and manage maintenance costs to ensure efficiency.
    • Follow work procedures, policies, methods and instructions.
    • Service provider management, including defining scope of work, facilitating PDA, issuing PTW and ensuring compliance to SHE and quality requirements.

    Purpose of Job

    Snr Explosive Plant Operator Gr 2 Caps Plant x2

    Purpose of Job

    • The manual assembly of non-electric delay detonators.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Assemble different products according to the specifications on the lot traveller. Competency required on all the different assembly machines (shell loader, PETN charger and press, Lead Azide charger and press, Element press, pack out press, Iso cup plating and Packer, DIB press, Delay plating, CD transferring and inspection).
    • Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements.
    • Do a stock count of all the raw material in the production area.
    • Sampling of debts for time testing and x-ray verification.
    • General Housekeeping inside the plant
    • Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller.
    • Adjust the settings of the equipment/machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller.
    • Handling of live Lead Azide and PETN when loading and unloading at machines.
    • Ensure that equipment and machines are clean and free of any pyrotechnic powder and explosives before scheduled maintenance (bi-weekly).
    • Removing and replacing PETN press, CD press, Element press and inspection pins during maintenance.
    • Removing and replacing of CD insertion and LA press pins daily.
    • Handling of graphite when preparing charge plates to be used in production.
    • Additional: Must be able to work full shifts and overtime

    Formal Education

    • Grade 12 or Equivalent with Maths and Science as subjects

    Working Experience

    • At least 1 year experience in Explosives manufacturing
    • Caps plant detonator manufacturing experience will be an added advantage

    Purpose of Job

    • To do backflushing, order material, receiving and transferring of material on SAP, stock control, verification of finished product before being dispatched to Caps Plant. Compliance with all SHERQ procedures in daily operations.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Housekeeping to maintain 5s standards
    • Do stock count of all the raw material in the production area
    • Do visual inspection and use relevant measurement tools and verify compliance of product produced in the plant.

    Explosives Operator Gr 1 X2 - Water gel

    Purpose of Job

    • To prepare work area for start-up and packaging. Make label stickers using the label sticker machine and scanner. Prepare boxes for packaging. Operate/weighing and inspection of cartridges including shutdown

    Key Accountabilities

    • Plant & Equipment - Ensure safety equipment is available and in working order. Correct tools and equipment available. Ensure plant and surrounding areas are clean
    • Plant Operation - Plant operated according to operating manual and safety instructions
    • Administration – Communicate with KP machine operators and mixers regarding production schedule issues

    Snr Explosive Plant Operator Gr 2 Booster Plant x2

    Purpose of Job

    • To produce cast boosters by melting and mixing explosives to create a pentolite cast booster.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • To produce pentolite cast boosters by melting and mixing two major components (TNT and PETN) to a certain ratio and pouring the mix in to forms.
    • Calculate mixing ratio using formula
    • Accurate mixing number of events need to take place (control temperatures, mix speeds, cooling period)
    • Recording of mixing event on mix sheet
    • Sampling to confirm mix ratio
    • General house keeping
    • Quality inspection, packing, labelling of final product and scanning. Record production quantities
