    Manager: Fundraising and Development

    Main Objectives:

    • To support the overall divisional strategy by executing and monitoring the fundraising and development strategy.  
    • To support the Director by giving input into the conceptualization of the divisional strategy and providing specialist input with regards to fundraising and development.  
    • To lead and manage the fundraising and development section and to take responsibility for the implementation of stewardship strategies for all donors, to fully recognise their contributions and to encourage their continued support of the University.

    The requirements:

    • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification approximately 7 years relevant experience where such experience includes: - 
    • Previous experience in a fundraising or in any position where the development of relationships is seen as core to the success of the position
    • Able to demonstrate a track record of success with regard to the above as well as where initiative has been taken to enhance or build key relationships.
    • Demonstrable success in running projects which are aimed at achieving support for philanthropic programmes.
    • At least 3 years management experience
    • Previous experience working with senior management in an organisation, where strategic input has been required

    Psychologist II

    Purpose

    As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Head of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern psychologists.

    Requirements

    • Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist (Masters’ degree) with at least 3 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship.  Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage.                        

    Relevant experience includes: -

    •  Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one on one counselling, group counselling and educational work
    • Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.
    • Experience in training of groups
    • Experience in the counselling of HIV/AIDS patients will be an advantage as well as any involvement in HIV/AIDS initiatives/programs
    • Being able to speak Xhosa will be an advantage

    Readvertsing: Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in the Division of Pharmaceutics in the Faculty of Pharmacy

    Main Objectives

    All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.

    The requirements

    Lecturer

    • MSc (Pharm) degree in Pharmaceutics or related field.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
    • Ability to teach in Physical Pharmaceutics. Ability to teach in Pharmaceutical Calculations, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics will be an advantage.
    • Experience in Industrial Pharmacy will be an advantage.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

    Senior Lecturer

    • PhD degree in Pharmaceutics or related field is preferred. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics or related field with progress being made towards a PhD will be considered. As a guide, progress implies intended submission within the next 12 months.

    PLUS

    • Experience: Usually 7 to 10 years of teaching experience.  OR 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a health or medicines-related field.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.
    • Experience in teaching Physical Pharmaceutics. Experience in teaching Pharmaceutical Calculations, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics will be an advantage.
    • Experience in Industrial Pharmacy will be an advantage.
    • Good research supervision of at least Masters’ degrees required
    • Emerging national profile in discipline
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)

    Manager: RU Sport

    Main Objectives: 

    To lead and drive sport at Rhodes University.  Responsible for providing support for the sporting aspirations of students at Rhodes University through the professional management of all essential services required for full participation and promotion of a variety of sports at both competitive and recreational levels.

    The requirements

    • A relevant B. Degree/Diploma (3 years of study) (preferably in Sports Science, HKE or equivalent) plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
    • At least 3 years’ experience in sports at club/tertiary level including a high level of interaction with students.
    • At least 3 years’ previous supervision/management experience
    • Previous experience drafting and managing budgets
    • Previous experiencing raising funds and securing sponsorships
    • Previous experience playing sport and a demonstrated ongoing interest in sport
    • Previous experience working within a computerised administration environment
    • A valid drivers’ license

    Senior ICT Specialist

    Main Objectives

    Technical Support and Systems Administration of IS and CS departments to assist the smooth running of the departments from a teaching, research and community engagement perspective.

    The requirements

    A relevant 3-year qualification (NQF level 7), preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems, plus approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Previous experience in an IT-related field
    • Knowledge and/or experience in system and server design and architecture
    • Previous experience working with alternative operating systems
    • Algorithmic, scripting and programming skills are required
