    Financial Manager

    Overview:

    • We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Manager to oversee the financial health and operational performance of various legal entities within the Cape Union Mart Group. This role requires strategic planning, financial acumen, and the ability to lead a team effectively. This person needs to be able to work well with team members at various levels within the business, from junior accountants to the CEO/CFO.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and budgets.
    • Monitor and report on financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
    • Conduct detailed variance analyses and provide actionable insights.
    • Budgeting and Cost Management
    • Prepare, manage, and oversee multiple annual budgets and components thereof.
    • Ensure cost efficiency and effective resource allocation.
    • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
    • Accounting and Compliance
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and monthly management accounts. This includes the following:
    • preparation of technical accounting journals, examples of which include IFRS 16, IFRS 15 etc.
    • review of journals prepared by junior team members.
    • Review Annual Financial Statements
    • Preparation of the annual consolidation and Group Financial Statements.
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting standards.
    • Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors.
    • Review monthly VAT calculation, submit on e-Filling an ensure payments are authorised.
    • Prepare certain annual tax calculations.
    • Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
    • Risk Management
    • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risks effectively.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Collaborate with senior management to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
    • Provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making
    • Provide monthly (planned) and adhoc reporting to team members at various levels within the business, including the CEO and CFO.
    • Operational
    • Review payment reconciliations and release supplier payments.
    • Assist junior team members with technical reconciliations of complex general ledger accounts
    • Prepare manufacturing divisions stock counts and perform (along with junior team members) test counts to assess the accuracy of the process followed by business.

    Qualification

    • CA (SA) registered with SAICA with 0 (newly qualified) to 3 years post article experience.

    Senior Buyer - Outdoor Leisure Buyer

    Description        

    • An opportunity has become available in our Outdoor Clothing Department for a resilient, innovative and resourceful Senior Buyer.  The role requires someone who is able to travel and work with our local and international factories in order to build and procure ranges for the Men’s K-WAY Leisure apparel department. 

    Requirements   

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Required:

    • Grade 12 certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification is required
    • Drivers licence
    • A minimum of 5 years retail merchandise buying experience is essential
    • 2 years buying experience in product development
    • In-depth knowledge of the retail product life cycle, merchandise buying principles and critical path
    • A working knowledge of the latest Microsoft packages is required
    • Candidates with RMS and PLM experience will be given preference

    Store Manager

    Job Purpose

    • To manage all aspects of the retail store to ensure the achievement of sales and profitability objectives, the delivery of excellent customer service, and compliance with brand standards and operational policies. The Retail Store Manager is also responsible for recruiting, developing, and motivating a high-performing team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sales and Financial Management

    • Drive and achieve store sales, profit, and growth targets.
    • Monitor and analyze store performance metrics (e.g., sales, profit margins, conversion rates, and foot traffic).
    • Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps and capitalize on opportunities.
    • Manage store expenses and ensure adherence to budgets.

    Team Leadership and Staff Management

    • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards in the store.
    • Conduct regular stock counts, audits, and inventory management to minimize shrinkage.

    Merchandising and Stock Control

    • Ensure effective merchandising that aligns with the brand's identity and promotional campaigns.
    • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with buyers or planners to replenish inventory as needed.
    • Implement and manage in-store promotions and seasonal displays.

    Reporting and Communication

    • Prepare and submit regular reports on store performance to the Area/Regional Manager.
    • Communicate store objectives, policies, and procedures to the team effectively.
    • Act as a liaison between the store team and senior management.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Achievement of sales and profitability targets.
    • Customer satisfaction scores and feedback.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Education: Matric Certificate (essential). A diploma/degree in Business Management (Not essential, but added advantage), Retail Management, or a related field (advantageous).

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a high-volume store.
    • Proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing a successful team.

    Allocator -Outdoor

    • Working with Planners and Buyers to fully implement the Merchandise Strategy

    • Store and merchandise-related (style and sizing) analysis

    Requirements:

    • 2 - 3 years’ experience as a Retail/Merchandise/Product/Store Allocator within a retail environment
    • Matric & qualification in a related field
    • A high degree of numeracy and a detailed and strategic approach to work
    • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
    • Ability to show initiative and be resourceful
    • Sound decision-making ability
    • Must have excellent MS Office (Excel at an advanced level) skills and/or other Planning Tools
