    General Assistant - Coating Department

    Job Advert Summary    

    • A General Assistant in the Coating Department will provide hands-on support to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of all coating-related activities. This role involves assisting machine operators, preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness and order in the production area, and following all safety and quality procedures

    Minimum Requirements    
    Required Qualifications / Experience

    • Minimum NQF Level 4 – 5 Grade 12 / Higher Certificates.
    • Knowledge on material grades and steel products.
    • Able to read, write and communicate in English and use measuring equipment.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    The following key areas are covered by this position:

    • Perform general duties as required to support smooth running of the coating department.
    • Maintaining cleanliness and order in the coating area, following housekeeping standards.
    • Routine safety inspections and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
    • Support equipment setup and basic adjustments.
    • Handle and store hazardous materials safely and according to procedures.
    • Reporting of any faults, defects, or equipment issues as well as maintenance requirements in designated area.
    • Assist with picking, packing and strapping of finished products.
    • Assisting other departments when needed.
    • Understanding and conformance to the company policies and procedures

    General Assistant - Paint Department

    Job Advert Summary    

    • A General Assistant in the Paint Department will provide hands-on support to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of all painting-related activities. This role involves assisting machine operators, preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness and order in the production area, and following all safety and quality procedures.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum NQF Level 4 – 5 Grade 12 / Higher Certificates.
    • Knowledge on material grades and steel products.
    • Forklift license is advantageous.
    • Working knowledge of health & safety regulations will be an advantage.
    • Able to read, write and communicate in English and use measuring equipment

    Valve Technician

    Purpose:

    • The valve Technician installs, repairs, inspects, and maintains industrial valves, actuators, and flow control equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency. The role combines hands-on technical work while ensuring adherence to schedules, planning and execution of valve servicing and assembly jobs. 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric / Grade 12 or technical certificate essential.
    • Engineering diploma/certificate would be advantageous (N3 or higher, B-Tech, Millwright).
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Engineering/Manufacturing/Production/Water Industry.
    • Knowledge of the Fluid Control products (Bermad or similar hydraulic control valves) essential.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, as well as draw and create detailed sketches by hand, including measuring distances, rights, tolerances etc.
    • Driver’s licence essential.
    • Prepared to travel to various job sites as and when required.
    • Must be prepared to work overtime and be on standby if required.
    • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Computer literate – prepare excel spreadsheets.
    • SAP experience will be advantageous.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    The following Key Performance Areas are covered by the position:

    • Provide efficient and effective technical support to customers on technical products (Valves).
    • Provide training to customers and end-users on the proper operation of Bermad Valves.
    • Provide training to customers and end-users on the proper operation of Smith Flow Interlock systems.
    • Conduct site assessments to identify and troubleshoot any issues or malfunctions, taking appropriate corrective measures.
    • Service, repair and assemble Bermad Valves and Smith Flow Interlock systems.
    • Conduct thorough testing of installed valves, verifying their proper operation and functionality.
    • Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
    • Estimate the amount of material, equipment and labour required for repairing of valves on site.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities including maintenance logs and service reports.
    • Submit all relevant documents once signed and the job is complete.
    • Effect changes to site jobs schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancing installation procedures and service quality.
    • Identify and provide feedback on cost saving initiatives within area of control.
    • Ensure housekeeping and Sheq requirements are in place according to set standards.
    • Create customer quotes and general stock/sales related queries using SAP.
