Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma in Health and Safety or a similar relevant qualification
• SAMTRAC certification – advantageous
• Professionally registered as a Safety Officer with SACPCMP
• At least 5 years as a Safety Officer on a Construction site

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all on-site electrical installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
• Plan daily tasks and manage electricians and subcontractors to ensure productivity and quality
• Take off materials from drawings and manage material ordering
• Monitor project progress and report delays or technical issues
• Conduct inspections and quality checks in line with SANS and OHSA requirements
• Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards on site
• Liaise with engineers, site management, and other trades
• Assist with testing, fault-finding, and commissioning
• Maintain accurate site records, reports, and safety documentation

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Recognised Electrical Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an electrical construction environment
• Sound knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and OHSA regulations
• Valid driver’s license and own transport
