    Estimator (EE) - Sandton

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Evaluate inquiry documents with relevant responsible Managers and Proposals Engineer.
    • Visit sites to ascertain site requirements.
    • Determine the order of operations and tasks to be performed to implement the project.
    • Identify the types and amounts of materials required to implement the project.
    • Prepare timelines, construction schedules and manpower histograms in conjunction with the Project Planner.
    • Calculate supplementary costs e.g. consumables, equipment, tools, etc.
    • Advise on special erection equipment and tools and other requirements for specific projects.
    • Prepare and issue erection/construction method statements to be incorporated into tender documents in conjunction with the relevant engineering department.
    • Produce accurate manpower estimation sheets, priced equipment lists and provisional and general costing for the project aligned with the construction schedules and method statements.
    • Prepare a projected cash flow for the proposal.
    • Liaise with Proposal Engineers and incorporate any modification as required.
    • Produce the basis of cost reporting and evaluate contractual issues.
    • Assist the administrative personnel.
    • Assist with payment applications and invoicing should queries arise during project execution.
    • Assist with cost controlling should queries arise during project execution.
    • Attend internal and client meetings.
    • Coach and mentor Junior Estimators.
    • Manage Estimating teams on multidisciplinary tenders involving complex estimating processes involving engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction.
    • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

    Competencies/skills:

    • Proven track record of accurate estimation of manpower, capital and indirect costs for construction projects.
    • Ability to work under pressure and keep to strict deadlines.
    • Ability to read and understand project schedules.
    • Computer literate (MS Office, SAP, planning - and estimating software).
    • Ability to do presentations to and communicate to Senior Management.
    • Deadlines driven, punctual and keeps to schedule.
    • Accuracy of record keeping and assumption.
    • Fluent in both written, verbal communication (English).

    Preferred Requirements:

    • B.Sc., B.Eng. or B.Tech. Engineering degree: 5 – 7 years’ estimating experience.
    • National Technical Diploma: 10 – 15 years’ estimating experience.
    • Artisan Trade Test would be advantageous.
    • 7 – 10 Years’ construction site experience working as a technical personnel on maintenance or construction site.
    • Proven track record of accurate estimation of manpower, capital and indirect costs for construction projects
    • Knowledge of engineering contracts (NEC and FIDIC).
    • Knowledge of cost estimating and control principles from the AACE.
    • Computer literate (MS Office, SAP, planning - and estimating software).

    Junior Proposals Engineer (EE)

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Register enquiries received, and evaluation of enquiry documentation.
    • Clarify client requirements, obtain input and tender qualification from internal departments and subcontractors and compile and submit to the Proposals Manager a detailed enquiry summary, highlighting the major commercial, technical and special requirements.
    • Compile “Bid Approval” documents for shareholder approval.
    • Compile, submit and evaluate subcontractor enquiries and offers and expediting enquiries and clarification queries.
    • Attend bid clarification meetings with clients and subcontractors.
    • Establish site requirements.
    • Calculate tender price in accordance with client requirements and internal procedures.
    • Compile proposals and obtain approval.
    • Attend and chair internal tender review meetings.
    • Issue tenders to clients.
    • Attend post tender negotiations.
    • Evaluate orders received against proposals submitted and agreements negotiated.
    • Follow up with the client and compile and update proposals tracking information.
    • Compile a comprehensive handover report of successful proposals to the appointed Project Manager.
    • Develop proposal forms and methods on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the Proposals Managers.
    • Establish, expand and maintain close contacts with key client representatives.
    • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

    • Working knowledge of engineering contracts (NEC and FIDIC).
    • Computer literate (MS Excel, Word and Power Point and MS Project or alternative planning programmes).

    Senior Boiler Engineer

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure and provide that the highest standards and quality are achievable for boiler pressure parts designs, boiler operations, maintenance and outages execution activities.
    • Ensure compliance to all legislative, regulatory, company and customer requirements.
    • Advance and implement knowledge of local and international best equipment, materials, information, practices and processes.
    • Analyse engineering designs for boiler pressure parts.
    • Plan, conduct, track and report boiler engineering investigations.
    • Review subcontractor procedures, processes and documentation in order to determine that applicable code and design requirements are satisfied.
    • Oversee, provide input and coordination for outage planning, scope of work development, RCFA and preventative maintenance strategies to ensure optimised boiler outages for long term boiler health.
    • Ensure that stakeholders are qualified in accordance with standards and contract specifications and obtain approval of the Client appointed Inspection Authority or third parties.
    • Develop and update procedures as per contract and standards requirements to ensure client acceptance and satisfaction.
    • Ensure the approval of procedures and data sheets by the Client appointed Inspection Authorities prior to commencement of work.
    • Provide technical support with industry standards and specifications such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AWS, API, CSA, ISO, DIN, TRD, BS and EN.
    • Coordinate failure analysis and root cause analysis on welding and heat treatment related matters.
    • Study engineering drawings to determine optimal procedural requirements for maintenance and replacement of components.
    • Review daily and monthly performance reports and identifies deficiencies in plant operations.
    • Compilation and implementation of repair procedures.
    • Enforce and maintain all legislative requirements related to boiler design and operation activities.
    • Review materials in the material purchasing specifications and storage and handling of parent materials.
    • Fulfil all job specific requirements and to perform all tasks set out under these job specific requirements.
    • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

    • Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
    • 5 - 10 Years’ boiler engineering experience in high pressure steam boiler erection, petrochemical industry, piping and/or a heavy engineering, multi-disciplinary team, project management and environment and in Boiler Plant operations, maintenance, outages and design.
    • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to boiler engineering assessments and recommendations.
    • In-depth understanding and knowledge of boiler plant operations, maintenance and outage planning and coordination.
    • In-depth understanding and knowledge of Boiler codes such as the ASME codes, EN standards, FFFR, NACE and NBIC.
    • Knowledge and understanding of quality systems.
    • Computer literate (MS Office).
