    Depot Engineer - GN

    Job Purpose

    • Manage / be part of Engineering, looking for the improvement of the reliability and availability of the fleet 
    • Provide technical advisory services to resolve technical issues at the Depot level, ensuring Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) requirements are met and be the link between Gibela and the Customer to resolve issues that need Engineering support.
    • Propose ideas for Life Cycle Cost (LCC) improvements either on product design, process and tools through technical data analysis from commercial service (during warranty and out of warranty),
    • Support Engineering activities in the project at depot level.
    • Coordinate with Central Engineering functional tests, train validation as per all test or validation requests.

    Technical Support

    • Review all commercial faults with the customer and agree on responsibility depot engineer and the customer’s depot engineer meet to review all the faults that have been fixed.
    • Resolve technical problems within the depot by identifying root causes and developing robust solutions that are right first time
    • Validate and provide performance report on all applied reliability solutions
    • Investigate repetitive failures and determine if they are either corrective or fleet defect issues.

    Storekeeper (KZN)

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure efficient management of inventory and materials within the warehouse by maintaining stock levels, storing materials securely in an organized manner, and accurately tracking all incoming and outgoing materials.
    • The role contributes to seamless supply chain activities, enhances productivity, and supports cost effective operations by overseeing the physical flow of materials (goods reception, warehousing, line-side replenishment, packaging, and shipping) while adhering to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards.

    Warehouse Operations Management

    Maintenance Technician (KZN Depot) 1

    Job Purpose

    • To provide corrective technical maintenance support to the customer during the warranty period and ensure performance targets are achieved in line with customer requirements. Guide and assist the customer on corrective maintenance after the warranty period.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Support

    • Collaborate and support the Engineering Department in analyzing train-related technical problems and faults and propose effective maintenance solutions.
    • Guide and support the customer (e.g., Drivers and the technical fleet management) in resolving emergencies that arise during service operations.
    • Support the customer in corrective maintenance execution by:
    • Coaching and training the customer on the maintenance procedures, as outlined in the contractual agreement.
    • Prepare trains for service through functional testing and applying train diagnostic methods, tools, and resources (e.g., Condition-Based Fault Monitoring (CFM), on-board computerised equipment, working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system expertise. 
    • Report all the defects identified during commercial services to facilitate the creation of service orders for defect resolution.

    Key Responsibilities

    Depot Maintenance Planner (KZN)

    Job Purpose

    • To plan, coordinate, monitor and report on all depot maintenance activities and serve as the interface between central planning and customer planning at the depot level.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan, consolidate, schedule and manage all depot maintenance plans including corrective maintenance, field modifications, preventative maintenance and EMD with maximum priority given to depot maintenance activities.
    • Update and report the status of all depot maintenance activities using relevant planning and reporting tools (GSI, QlikView, excel Planning sheets, etc).
    • Attend and lead the daily maintenance planning meetings, manage the whiteboards and DLSB system to ensure scheduled maintenance slots are effectively utilised.
    • Communicate updated planning information and allocate tasks to various workshop teams.
    • Supervise, coordinate and monitor all train maintenance activities within the workshop according to the time slots allocated during planning meetings and minimise ad-hoc activities.
    • Release and share preventive maintenance service orders with the customer.
    • Report all cumulated delays, analyse root causes and recommend improvements to prevent future delays.
    • Verify compliance with scheduled time slots for preventive maintenance activities (e.g. hand over/ hand back, maintenance, pre-service checks and hand over out).
    • Check and ensure the availability of critical maintenance spare parts by engaging with the Supply Chain team through meetings and the SAP system.
    • Monitor the status of the workshop infrastructure, especially special tools required for maintenance tasks.
    • Escalate production and commercial service issues to the Depot Manager when required.
    • Use industrial evaluation KPIs to assess and optimise the maintenance workload on shifts in line with planning schedules.
    • Share the monthly maintenance schedule with the customer (Prasa) to ensure all the timeous removal of trains from service for maintenance.
    • Track the removal of trains from service for preventive maintenance, leveraging these opportunities to perform additional repairs, inspections and retrofits.
    • Add material required by the customer’s preventative maintenance teams during on-condition maintenance if applicable.
    • Collect, verify and archive preventative maintenance Means of Proof (MoP) on the system after maintenance activities are completed..
    • Verify the customer’s monthly maintenance plan and advise the Depot Manager if tolerances are not met.
    • Request timeous train movements or shunting for all maintenance activities planned on a daily basis.
    • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes.
    • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports comparing planned vs actual maintenance for both Gibela’s and PRASA’s scopes (Operations Say-Do KPIs) to the customer and central planning.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B Tech Degree or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management (NQF Level 7)
    • 2 Years experience in Production maintenance planning and coordination experience in a process and production environment.

    Depot Engineer (WC)

    Job Purpose

    • Manage / be part of Engineering, looking for the improvement of the reliability and availability of the fleet 
    • Provide technical advisory services to resolve technical issues at the Depot level, ensuring Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) requirements are met and be the link between Gibela and the Customer to resolve issues that need Engineering support.
    • Propose ideas for Life Cycle Cost (LCC) improvements either on product design, process and tools through technical data analysis from commercial service (during warranty and out of warranty),

    Technical Support

    • Validate and provide performance report on all applied reliability solutions
