Purpose of Position:

• To provide technical support, perform routine and stat analyses of samples within the Clinical Pathology laboratory environment

Requirements:

• National Diploma – Medical Technology (Preferably Clinical Pathology) (Required), Registered as Medical Technician (Chemical Pathology) with the HPCSA (Required)

Required Experience:

• Experiential training in a training laboratory, Knowledge: Instrumentation and Methodologies, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: MS Excel, Knowledge: MS Word, Knowledge: Quality Control, Knowledge: relevant pathology test procedures, Knowledge of Ampath Safety, Health and Environment management policy

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain good client relations in order to promote the image of Ampath., Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory., Process routine bench work in laboratory in order to ensure efficient processing of specimens., Provide technical support within laboratory in order to ensure the efficient flow of specimens and timeous resulting of specimen., Train laboratory staff in order to ensure continuous development and education.

Position Description

• This exciting entry level career opportunity is suited to a highly motivated, hardworking, committed individual who is reliable, punctual and determined to succeed. The successful candidate will be expected to enter into a contract commencing on 01 July 2023.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

• Undergoing training in the trade of the Refrigeration Mechanic apprenticeship and to qualify as an Artisan;
• Participating in the apprenticeship training programme;
• Delivery quality work at all times; and
• Performing allocated duties.

The successful candidate must preferably have the following skills and qualifications:

Skills Requirements

• Good technical problem solving skills;
• Have proven verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Attention to detail (meticulous and accurate); and
• Sound knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Educational Requirements

• Matric with Maths and Science
• N2 or Diploma in Engineering studies with relevant Electrical and Mechanical trade theory.(please attached certified copy)

Additional Requirements

• Own reliable transport;
• Work extended hours as and/or when required;

• To process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Genetics Laboratory

Requirements:

• HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist in Cytogenetics (Required), National Diploma in Medical Technology / BSc Degree (Hons) (Required)

Required Experience:

• Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the training of Learner Technologists to ensure competence., Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath., Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld., Receive and process specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results.
