    Machine Operator

    JOB SUMMARY  

    • To ensure the correct and safe operation of all machines and equipment as per prescribed SPM.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

    • Must be able to communicate in English
    • Must be able to read and write
    • Must be able to count  
    • Must be able to use weighing scales  
    • Stays in Johannesburg or surrounding areas  
    • The employees and management of BIC South Africa have agreed upon the targets for each job.
    • These targets must be achieved and maintained at all times.  
    • Maintain 85% productivity/efficiency for the section
    •  A minimum of 2(two) years’ experience in mass production environment  
    • Highest standard in housekeeping must be maintained at all times  
    • All operational machinery must be kept in a safe, clean and tidy condition
    • The highest standards of quality must be maintained on all produced goods
    •  All duties will be performed in accordance with the prescribed S.P.M (STD Production Method)
    • Late coming in workplace will not be accepted.
    • If absent, for any reasons production supervisor must be informed or production foreman on time.
    • Ensure that PPE issued by company is worn at all times while on duty and well maintained
    • It may be necessary to perform other duties in other areas when need arises  
    • Do cycle and stock counts on components.  
    • Be able to work 3 shifts system rotating. Morning, Afternoon and Night shift
    • At each workstation in pen assembly a production schedule/action log must be properly filled out, if required the supervisor will show how this is done  
    • Have a good working relationship with all employees and management  
    • Must learn Kanban
    • If and when problems occur, they must be reported immediately to supervisor, Foreman
    •  All traceability labels in production must be checked to see that they are correct for the job and affixed properly to product  
    • Safety and housekeeping prevent and minimize hazards.
    • Ensure that the area around machines and equipment is kept clean and tidy at all times if this requirement is not met, a report must be made to the supervisor/Foreman and or the safety representative for the area.

    Extrusion Operator

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Operate Extruder machines (including auxillary equipments)

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

    • Experience on setting extruder will be an advantage.
    • Ability to think and problem solve.
    • Be able to work under close tolerances
    • The ability to work unsupervised
    • Be used to working with tools. Mechanically inclined

    •  Where product problems are identified the defective product containment rules are properly applied and followed on a timely basis.
    • Ensure that defect product is properly segregated and labeled and Supervisor and/ or Manager is notified.
    • From time to time you will need to be flexible with your working hours when production demands arises due to various circumstances.

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

    • Ensure production targets are met but conducting job changes efficiently, eliminating unnecessary downtime and running the correct cycle times.
    • Ensure that scrap levels are maintained at a low level by conducting continuous quality checks.

    Manager, FP&A

    JOB SUMMARY

    • The Manager, FP&A provides business financial analysis and recommendations by working closely with the Southern African teams to ensure the execution of business objectives in terms of revenue generation, profitability, and overall strategy. This role will ensure sound business analysis of the Southern Africa commercial strategy and investment propositions, driving creation of robust business models, providing transparent reporting of actual and forecasted business performance.
    • She/he must keep up with a material volume of information, often tracked in complex spreadsheets, thus requiring discipline and methodology. Effective communication skills are crucial as she/he must be able to relay difficult, dense information to upper management in a precise and easy-to-understand way.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

    • Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete reporting of Actuals and Forecasts
    • Supporting, coordinating, and consolidating the annual budgets and rolling forecasts, in conjunction with the Southern Africa GM, Sales/Marketing teams and local/HQ finance teams including assumptions validation
    • Coordinating, consolidation and interpreting of monthly financial reporting as well as financial performance vs expectations; including drivers of variances, business insights, corrective actions and recommendations for decision making
    • Preparation of insight and actions reporting for MEA HQ: working capital, P&L, and balance sheet analysis/KPIs
    • Providing all operating departments with the necessary financial analysis and information
    • Providing ad-hoc business report analysis to management team
    • Active contribution to continuous financial reporting process improvements
    • Working capital monitoring: added value support on inventory management and A/R follow up. Ensure annual goals are met
    • Develop relationships with the Southern Africa organization to gather on a timely basis all required information to conduct above tasks. Interact with them on their request for support vs. the rest of BIC group actors (Group finance, MEA HQ, GSC, etc.)
    • Gain country/continent operational knowledge to act as a business partner
    • Provide back up and support to the local finance teams

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Assembly Instrumentation Technician

    JOB SUMMARY 

    • MAIN PURPOSE: Sets and maintains all machines to obtain their optimum efficiencies, ensures that all planned maintenance work is done according to the schedules and that all records are kept up to date, liaise with QA personnel and strives to maintain high quality standards. Will, when necessary, assist with new projects deemed and work overtime when required. Manage, diagnose and maintain digital PLC equipment.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS 

    ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE:

    REQUIRED EDUCATION: 

    • Millwright 
    • Electrician 
    • N4 Mechanical/N4 Electrical or above  
    • Formal PLC training  

    REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: 

    • With at least 5 years maintenance and setting experience of high-speed packaging, assembly, printing, and manufacturing machines with a thorough knowledge of the implementation and the successful running of a machine maintenance schedule.  

    PLC Diagnoses and coding: 

    • Will need to be able to understand, read and program PLC controllers (Preferably OMRON). PLC experience is a must.  

    Machine setting: 

    • Technicians must develop the skills for the setting of all assembly machines (Mechanical and electrical)  

    Machine overhauling: 

    • Will do running and preventative maintenance according to a planned maintenance program: liaise with the foreman to ensure that all machines and equipment are mechanically sound with adequate lubrication. Technicians will ensure that the necessary schedules are filled in at the end of each shift and have been signed off by their supervisor. 

    Production: 

    • Technicians must be aware of the outputs of various machines and equipment, to achieve the highest possible output figures. Will strive to maintain optimum settings, will report any problems related to the non-performance of machines/ equipment and/ or both to the foreman. Will assist with operator and supervisor training on Assembly Machines and inform them of any standard procedural changes. Technicians are to ensure that all machines on plan should be in running order before the end of their shift. 

    Quality Assurance: 

    • Will consider quality as a key component of all work that is done and products that are manufactured on the machines/ Equipment under his care, will have a thorough knowledge of the product and its components. Will continually seek to meet the standards required for all products and will advise the QA Department of any non-performance of the product and or its components.  

    Safety and housekeeping: 

    • Prevents and minimizes hazards, ensures that the areas around the machines and equipment are kept clean and tidy by the operatives at all times and that they meet with BIC’s requirements. If these requirements are not met he will report this to his foreman / or the Safety Representative for that area. We are an ISO 14001 compliant company and technicians are required to prevent and minimize any environmental hazardous and report any possible risks to the foreman and or HSE manager. Safety must be the priority and near miss reporting is required. Good 5S knowledge and implementation. 

    Working hours 

    • Assembly Technicians are required to work shifts, including weekends and overtime when required and as per shift rosters.  

    Security: 

    • The incumbent will be aware that the removal of any company property from the premises (Manufactured product and equipment) without prior written permission is a criminal offence. He will report any suspicious removal of the same to the engineering foreman or security personnel. The incumbent will understand that he is indirectly responsible for security in and around his work areas.  

    Employee Relations: 

    • The incumbent will be aware of the importance of having good working relations with his colleagues. All the operatives in his work areas and all persons he may have to deal with during the course of a day. 

    Confidentiality: 

    • The incumbent must be aware that he will have privileged information regarding the manufacturing and all processes which is the property of BIC SA. He is hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution or copying of this information is strictly prohibited.  

    QUALIFICATIONS
