You will be responsible for commissioning, maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment used at the R&D facility, whilst ensuring the site complies to OHS legal requirements in this regard.

You Will Be Part of Growing Team: Research and Development
Your Challenge:

• Perform planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on machinery and electrical equipment 
• Liaising with suppliers for the supply of spare parts and services. 
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Operate machine tools, such as welders and grinders, required during repair, maintenance and set-up of machinery. 
• Ensure that machines and the working area in and around machines are kept clean. 
• Ensure site implementation and adherence of electrical and machine safety programs
• Assist with on farm activities and operation of machines during peak times
• Participate in improvement of safety programs and protocols (safety, efficiency, effectiveness) specific to direct work environment to identify and communicate potential risks and benefits
• Complete personal development activities as part of a performance management and development plan

Key Stakeholders and Interactions: You will work in collaboration with the Operations manager & Research Associate of the farm 

Qualifications

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need 

• Millwright Trade Certificate (Red Seal) or BTech degree with relevant experience. Wireman’s license will be advantageous.
• 3 years relevant experience
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance support skills. 
• Experience with agricultural equipment would be beneficial
• Good understanding of engineering principles. 
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and schematic drawings.
• Working knowledge of maintenance processes and techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people
• Proficiency in Office software such as spreadsheets, mail, calendar and presentation software.

You will be part of a team that is building the future of agriculture – leading breakthroughs in the innovation and application of science and technology. In this role, you will use your research/agricultural experience to execute the day-to-day operations and maintenance at our Delmas research facility. In collaboration with other functions and breeding programs you will oversee land preparation, manage irrigation scheduling, planting, and harvesting. 

Your Challenge:

• Ensures efficient field preparation takes place and maintenance of crops on the farm 
• Ensuring precision farming practices are implemented on an R & D level – fertilizer & chemical application, weed control, pest control, crop rotations
• Responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance (handling of contractors) and upkeep on the farm, including labor relations and scheduling.
• Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of research equipment including irrigation systems, tractors, planters
• Interact with breeding and other functions with a mindset focused on continuous improvement
• Assist with field allocation, ensuring adherence to spatial and/or temporal isolation to maintain the company’s good track record in regulatory compliance
• On the ground implementation and training on new equipment and processes
• Lead the implementation of safety programs and protocols (safety, efficiency, effectiveness) specific to direct work environment to identify and communicate potential risks and benefits

• Ability to supervise and prioritize multiple tasks is critical
• Technical and mechanical skills for troubleshooting, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment, to ensure excellent condition and safety of equipment at any time.

As Senior Commercial Product Agronomy Specialist you will be responsible to ensure that the required amount of good quality and genetically pure seed is produced by the growers in the required volumes.
As Senior Commercial Product Agronomy Specialist you will serves as the primary field contact for location seed production which includes the following:
Grower management (ex. selection, training, selling the seed contract value, contract management, and support).  Leads the field selection effort, coordinate field mapping, product placement, and seed field quality control, develops and leads the integrated pest management program, including budget considerations and vendor agreements.  Supervises field activities and plant operations, performs analysis on production efforts, and prepares and presents reports as needed for the assignments undertaken.

You Will Be Part of Growing Team 

Produce high quality seed, corn and Dry beans. Provide internal and external technical support in the development and application of products, processing techniques, and resolution of problems. Under general direction, solves a variety of moderately complex problems.

Your Challenge:

• Recruiting, developing, and supporting seed growers (acreage planning, training, quality control) as well as coordinating all field activities (allocations, planting, rouging, pest management, detasseling, defoliation, male removal, yield estimation, harvesting, and conducting research). 
• Documentation Control: Seedpro, EDGE, Promap, Blue print and weekly excel report need to be completed.  Monthly vehicle inspection needs to be completed and all near missis need to be report within 24 hours.  GrowU, safety programs, audits and an annual ethics compliance need to be completed
• The position will require driving a minimum of 8,000 km on company business per year, also to be prepared to work on weekends.

• Supports sales by demonstrating technical applications knowledge of the product and/or technical solutions at the customer.
