    Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Specialist

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in social science, Social Development or related/relevant field.
    • Valid driver’s license
    • 5-8 years relevant experience in Corporate Social Investment or socio-economic development

    Key performance areas

    • To timeously respond to applications for funding.
    • To conduct research / benchmarking exercises to input into designated area 
    • To monitor and track the implementation of approved projects to ensure that funds are used as approved
    • To regularly liaise with communities and beneficiaries
      To contribute in drafting reports for annual report, Exco, board and external stakeholders.
    • To provide project support to senior staff within the department
      Perform other related duties as required
    • Effective Partnerships and stakeholder management to enhance the CSI mandate and IDC strategic imperatives for specific projects/initiatives (youth, community projects & co-operative, schools and etc.).  with Units/Departments, and external partners

    Senior Dealmaker Energy

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Financial / Shareholder Returns

    • Evaluate and effectively structure transactions with detailed application of IDC financing instruments.
    • Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions.

    Internal / Operational Processes

    • Evaluate applications for finance (financial, technical and marketing disciplines)
    • Deal structuring - Designing and negotiating the financial and legal relationship
    • between the client and IDC for the specific deal.
    • Risk identification and mitigation
    • Leading of due diligence teams on high value / complex transactions
    • Deal optimization - ensuring that the deal is aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit and will contribute to meeting industry development goals
    • Support the development and implementation of strategies or action plans to drive the SBU’s strategic objectives.
    • Account management function up to first draw
    • Prepare well written and motivated reports for presentation to the relevant Credit and other committees as required.
    • Conduct peer reviews on all due diligence disciplines.
    • Training, mentoring and coaching of Business Analysts and Dealmakers
    • Provide advice to Business Analysts and Dealmakers in the handling of enquiries and Applications

    • To effectively interact with different SBUs and departments in order to fulfil the
    • process requirements related to any specific deal / transaction.
    • Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision

    QUALIFICATIONS (Formal qualifications)

    • Minimum qualification: relevant commercial or technical Honours Degree orequivalent qualification.

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (knowledge, type and length of experience and skills required to perform the job competently

    • 8-10 years related experience of which 8 years should be in deal assessment as well as closing of transactions (i.e. management of approved deals up to first drawdown, including ensuring timely conclusion of legal agreements).
    • Declared competent in three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical or Financial)
    • Grounded in all three disciplines
    • Transaction leadership (complex deals)
    • Knowledge in assessing all associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.)
    • Experience in peer review
    • Experience in interpretation and analysis of financial statements
    • Knowledge of the market environment and technology landscape
    • Knowledge of financing instruments
    • Understand and review models of proposed financial structures
    • Competent in coaching and mentoring of team members.

    Senior Economist

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Honours degree in economics, econometrics (or equivalent qualification)
    • Masters degree (e.g. M. Commerce (Economics/Econometrics) or M. Science (Economics/Econometrics)) will be an added advantage.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • 8 to 10 years relevant experience, preferably within an economic research and analysis environment.
    • Substantial experience and knowledge in sourcing, compiling, interrogating, testing and analysing statistical information (e.g. national accounts, international trade etc), for use in quantitative analyses.
    • Understanding, knowledge and experience of the historical and current economic environment (international and domestic) and factors influencing it.
    • Strong understanding, knowledge and experience of macro-economics and development economics theory and principles, as well as their application in industrial development and in the finance environment
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to understand, integrate and analyse complex information.
    • Good understanding, knowledge and experience of the economic and socio-economic environment in South Africa and southern Africa, including transformation and regional development issues.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Conduct macro-economic and sectoral trend analysis, forecasting and economic impact assessments.
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and contribute to the expansion of IDC modelling capacity.
    • Compile and present macro-economic research reports, publications, and presentations on economic matters for the IDC, and its stakeholders.
    • Assist in planning portfolio priorities and objectives from macro-economic and sectoral perspectives, contributing to market risk analysis.
    • Participate in various strategic research projects, particularly from a macro-economic analysis perspective.
    • Participate in specific fora and liaise with various external institutions.
    • Provide information on economic matters to IDC at large and assist through strategic support which enables effective management of the IDC group.
    • Lead and/or coordinate research projects undertaken with other economists within the department.
    • Undertake technical analysis of the prices of various commodities (industrial, energy and precious metals).
    • Forecasting of the prices of various commodities (industrial, energy and precious metals).

    • Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA),
    • Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting,
    • Honours Degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification allowing entry into the SAICA IAC.
