    Construction Quality Controller (Fixed Term 24-Month Contract - Site Based)

    Summary of Role: 

    • As the Construction Quality Cenr, you will be responsible for leading the quality process on site. Ensuring timeous inspections as per the ITP presented by the Contractor as well as checking and ensuring compliance to design and acceptable quality standards.

     

    What you will do:

    The Construction Quality Controller key responsibilities comprise the following: 

    • Reports to the Site Construction Manager (or deputy) on a daily basis. 
    • Align quality process and inspection planning with contractors. 
    • Conducting inspections and assuring construction compliance to design and acceptable quality standards.  
    • Management of Non conformance and corrective actions. 
    • Liaise with Engineering. 
    • Monitor and observe safe work practices proactively. 
    • Control and manage quality documentation on a weekly basis. 
    • Ensure quality documentation is signed and completed in full as well as filed in the correct location. 
    • Update documentation tracker. 
    • Significant autonomy in work, but a strong reporting and approval process using Mainstream’s Asset Delivery procedures and process (this is based on PMI® PMBOK®). 
    • Raise changes to procedures if required and ensure a change management system is applied.  
    • Daily and weekly log reports. 
       

    What we require:

    • 3-5 years Civil/Electrical/Turbine construction experience / experience in renewable energy (wind and solar).  
    • N4, OEM Technician training or Diploma in Engineering (electrical, mechanical or civil) 
    • The candidate must be fluent in English; fluency in other languages is considered an advantage. 
    • Knowledge of ISO9001 and or similar quality management systems. 
    • Good proactive and practical approach 
    • Good Communication skills. 
    • Skilled in interfacing with site construction activities with proven ability to manage the interfaces and planning with various stakeholders 
    • Capable of teamwork in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary setting 
    • Good written and oral communications skills. 
    • Ability to use Microsoft software. Other software packages such as MS Project and SharePoint to be advantageous. 
    • Experience with Document control systems advantageous.

    Construction Site Manager (Fixed Term 24-Month Contract - Site Based)

    Summary of Role: 

    • As the Company Site Representative, you will be the local point of contact for all site and land owner-related concerns during the lead-up to construction. During the construction phase, you will be responsible for managing the EPC Contractor(s) during and from the commencement of work onsite through to final handover of project to the operations team. Driving and facilitate the timeous delivery of the project will be a key focus accountability. 

    What You Will Do:

    The Company Site Representative’s key responsibilities comprise the following: 

    • Reports to the Project Manager (or deputy) on a daily basis. 
    • The position will undertake the management of the EPC Contractor’s site activities during the construction and commissioning of the project and the coordination of the activities of Company Site HSE, QA/QC and ECO Inspectors. 
    • Key responsible for on site progress and reporting. 
    • Manage site construction activities in cost effective and timely manner, facilitating solutions, ensuring that planned projects completion dates are met. 
    • To act as a point of contact for all project landowners to ensure they are informed of project activities and work being carried out on their land through the construction phase. 
    • Managing Contractor interfaces to achieve timely delivery, whilst minimising potential for Contractor downtime and claims. 
    • Monitor the work and enforce site rules and adherence to the construction phase plan to ensure the health and safety of everyone on site. 
    • Engaging and managing local technical and engineering consultants. 
    • Supervise commissioning activities, ensuring smooth hand-over of facilities to Assets Owners after successful commissioning. 
    • Significant autonomy in work, but a strong reporting and approval process using Mainstream’s Asset Delivery procedures and process (this is based on PMI® PMBOK®). 
    • Raise changes to procedures if required and ensure a change management system is applied. Specifically he/she must ensure all changes to procedures are documented, risk assessed and communicated to and approved by all relevant parties and key personnel. 
    • Manage site team 
    • Project safety – be the safety leader implementing and enforcing Mainstream’s SHEQ processes and procedures on site. Establish best practice site SHEQ supervision and management.  
    • Monitor daily activities at the construction sites, using this data to trend and develop detailed forecasts and ensure that corrective actions are done timely. 
    • Daily and weekly log reports. 


    What We Require:

    • Degree or Diploma in Engineering (electrical, mechanical or civil). 
    • 5 years Civil/Electrical engineering construction experience / experience in renewable energy.  
    • The candidate must be fluent in English; fluency in other languages is considered an advantage. 
    • Good Communication skills. 
    • Skilled in management of site construction activities with proven ability to manage the interfaces with various stakeholders (Operations, HSE, Security and Community Relations disciplines) during project execution. 
    • Capable of managing projects in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team setting 
    • HSE management of a large group of people and contractors. 
    • Strong project management skill set required including contract management, contract administration, scheduling, planning, financial control and management. 
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills. 
    • Candidates should be capable of managing internal and external resources. 
    • Ability to use Microsoft software. Other software packages such as MS Project and SharePoint to be advantageous.

    Head of Legal

    Summary of Role:

    • The purpose of this role is to lead the legal workstream providing primary support to the Mainstream DevCo teams and, high level oversight of legal and compliance activities of the Mainstream Asset Management and Construction teams, in South Africa.
    • The role will involve significant interaction with management teams and requires working closely with and advising colleagues in many functions across the business (Commercial, Development, Construction, Procurement, etc).
    • This is a challenging position with wide ranging duties and responsibilities; it will offer you the opportunity to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial organisation, in a growing market, and in a fast-paced industry. As a member of the local senior team, your expertise and engagement are crucial.

    What you will do: 

    • Service and provide front-line negotiation, drafting and support of key commercial contracts.
    • Be familiar with relevant terms and conditions of the suite of project documents, including project finance agreements, equity agreements, and construction contracts; and provide commercial support related to effective execution of these contracts.
    • Support the procurement team with negotiation of construction contracts including turbine supply agreements, balance of plant, EPC contracts and long-term service contracts
    • Advise and assist on a range of corporate transactions from investments, M&A, fundraisings and structuring at project and corporate level.
    • Provide legal oversight, the ability to identify key legal risks, research issues and formulate strategies to mitigate exposures.
    • Promote legal awareness and update the business on relevant legislative changes and case law affecting Mainstream’s business and the wider renewable energy sector including regulatory, planning and environmental matters.
    • Provide legal support on all key business initiatives and projects.
    • Lead and develop a small team of experts in legal, compliance and company secretarial functions.


     Practice areas:

    • Project finance; corporate finance.
    • Company law; joint ventures; acquisitions and disposals.
    • Legal due diligence.
    • Full range of commercial contracts, including NDAs, consultancy and agency agreements, and service agreements.
    • Working with external law firms putting in place appropriate facility agreements and associated security.
    • Equity related agreements including MOUs, Joint Development Agreements, Shareholder Agreements, etc.
    • Procurement and construction contracts.
    • Power purchase agreements; and other Government facing agreements.
    • Legal relationship management and legal risk management.
    • Data privacy, anti-bribery, corruption, and ethics compliance.
    • Assist with a range of other contracts and legal issues that may arise across the business including Information Systems, HR, Health & Safety, & Environmental, and general litigation.


    What we require: 

    • Completed LLB (or similar) qualification.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience at a similar level.
    • Strong people management skills, including the development of the members of the team, in line with company principles and values.
    • Experience or secondments in-house to a multinational company would be advantageous but not essential.
    • Experience in project finance, and in structuring JVs and shareholders’ agreements will be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and commissioning processes would be advantageous.
    • Strong negotiation and commercial contract drafting skills essential.
    • Be a self-starter with the ability to prioritise work, multi-task and work to set deadlines within a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
    • Candidates should be capable of managing internal and external resources.
