  • Senior Mine Planner

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:  

    • To design, programme and schedule the exploitation of the mineral body in order to convert the mineral resource into mineral reserves for the safe, healthy and profitable extraction of the minerals in line with customer organisations’ strategies. 

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Co-ordinate and develop short, medium, and longer term mining plans that optimise the exploitation of the ore-body and contribute towards the safe, profitable and cost effective mining of mineral reserves. 
    • Responsible for the mine plan and to ensure the integrity and integration of all mine planning data and activities. 
    • Compile a consolidated report to determine the risks associated with the execution of the short and medium term mine plan for analysis and scrutiny of the findings. 
    • Analyse and scrutinize the report findings against planned schedules and recommend corrective action. 
    • Determine and optimise the appropriate technology, techniques, including resource and equipment requirements, methods and procedures for mining final products. 
    • Create operational mining infrastructure and resource(s) schedules. 
    • Resource to reserve conversion to be done as per Samrec definition (JOC, Canadian code, et al.) 
    • Ensure that legislative requirements for mine planning as per the Customer’s COP and safety standards, Minerals Act, Health & Safety Act and other related Acts are adhered to. 
    • Contribute to and participate in the processes of the medium and long term business planning. 
    • Provide the information for the monthly planning meetings. 
    • Record the results of the monthly planning meetings. 
    • Liaise closely with other Mineral Resources professionals, as well as production / processing and technical departments, to obtain their input, co-ordinate and factor in the range of data, inputs and expertise into mine plans.

    REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: 

    The minimum educational, qualifications and experience that are required to perform the job competently:  

    Minimum Qualifications:   

    • An NQF 5 -6 Qualification in Mine Planning issued under the Quality Council for Trades & Occupations and / the Southern African Institute for Mining & Metallurgy (SAIMM).  

    Preferred:   

    • Further qualification as in Bsc. / BTech in Geology / Mining / any relevant equivalent tertiary qualification in Mining, Geology or a Mineral Resources related discipline. 

    Experience:   

    • Minimum 5 to 8 years in Mine Planning department. 
    • Experienced in testing new and existing engineering technologies relating to the location and extraction of minerals from the earth and overseeing the safety of mining operations and supervision of miners. 
    • Good understanding of mining methods, viz: mineral beneficiation; geology; survey; ventilation; rock engineering; mine health and safety; mine sample collection and analysis; and mine planning information systems. 
    • Ability to relate the outputs of mine plans with financial implications   
    • Ability to obtain information from the relevant sources and liaise with other related disciplines (Survey, Geology, Rock Engineering, etc)   
    •  Project evaluation skills

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:  

    • Will be required to visit Customer sites, Customer offices, Supplier offices/workshops as well as construction sites.  
    • Will be required to conduct inspections at Supplier workshops as well conduct inspections on constructions sites. 

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO THE JOB: 

    • Travelling to sites frequently is expected. 
    • Short term posting to site(s) is also a requirement. 
    • May be required to travelling internationally to other Worley offices, Customer and / or Supplier sites.

    Senior Electrical Engineer

    Purpose

    • You will provide electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team.

    Responsibilities 

    • Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley', its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
    • Initiate, manage and if required supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
    • Perform electrical engineering services such as:
    • participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
    • ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;
    • provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.  For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders. 
    • If required, act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.

    If responsible for a team:

    • outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress;and
    • ensure the required services meet Worley,its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget. 
    • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
    • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
    • If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
    • Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
    • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

    What you will bring

    • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
    • A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the electrical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
    • A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Competent use of electrical engineering specific software.
    • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
    • Substantial technical land practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams. 

    Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

    Required:

    • A recognised and relevant engineering degree.

    Preferred:

    • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
    • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
