    Maintenance Team Leader (GN)

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure that maintenance activities scheduled for completion are safely executed in a timely manner and adhere to work instructions, standards and quality parameters.
    • Offer technical support and guidance to Technicians and to train the customer on corrective maintenance processes and procedures. Perform train preparations and corrective maintenance on customer trains upon receiving the formal request from the customer.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Support

    • Assist Central Engineering with  field investigations and perform root cause analyses of complex failures.
    • Validate the quality of the corrective maintenance interventions or fault resolutions.
    • Ensure the SES/GSI or SAP system is updated to enable the Depot Engineer to:
    • Provide updated progress on fault finding processes and corrective maintenance during weekly review meetings with the customer
    • Review delays with the customer to confirm alignment with the fault and caused by other events
    • Support the customer’s corrective maintenance team in diagnosing unusual or challenging faults for trains that are out of warranty.
    • Verify that the failure details and corresponding maintenance interventions are accurately documented before validating service orders.
    • Oversee corrective maintenance and vandalism related repair activities upon request from the customer.
    • Support and coach customer’s staff in performing preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Liaise with TSSSA engineering to clarify and improve the work instructions, troubleshooting guides and other relevant documentation to enhance maintenance quality and train performance.
    • Guide and coach Technicians and assist with complex fault finding and replacement of appropriate modules or equipment.
    • Identify and propose improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) performance.
    • Offer help desk technical support to the customer on trains that are in service (24/7 helpdesk support.

    Health and Safety

    • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to Quality, Health, and Safety standards as well as legislative requirements.
    • Guide and coach the team on the correct use of safety equipment and emergency procedures in the event of an incident.
    • Ensure team members are equipped with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves and protective outerwear.
    • Conduct safety checks on all equipment used during the maintenance process to ensure operational safety and compliance.

    Team Selection, Hours Management, Performance and Development

    • Guide, coach, motivate and support team members.
    • Approve time sheets and where applicable approve overtime.
    • Check that team hours are correctly reflected on SAP and SES.
    • Plan for mandatory and other training that will enhance personal growth.
    • Monitor the performance of team members and provide input into development plans.
    • Facilitate the on-the-job training of new team members.
    • Participate in the selection of direct reports.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B Tech/Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 7)
    • 3 - 5 Years experience in preventative and corrective maintenance experience within a services or operations department.
    • 2 Years Team Leader experience .

    Special Requirements

    • Incumbent will be required to manage Warehouse staff when performing night shift and be on call stand by duty to support helpdesk scope.

    Your future role

    • Reporting to Tender Procurement Director AMECA, you’ll work alongside dedicated, innovative, and collaborative teammates. You'll develop and implement sourcing strategies at the tender phase to ensure optimal cost productivity, such as identifying preferred suppliers, conducting saving and risk assessments, and much more.
    • Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Bid Management, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain), challenge commodity buyers & managers to increase competitiveness, and ensure convergence of commodity strategies with Tenders.

    We’ll look to you for:

    • Liaising effectively with the Engineering Department, Bid Managers, and various stakeholders to prepare tender sourcing commitments.
    • Challenging commodity buyers and managers to drive competitiveness and ensure alignment of commodity strategies with tenders.
    • Managing sourcing Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance (QCDP) commitments within the tender.
    • Consolidating sourcing commitments in the tender phase, including the actualization.
    • Collecting and formalizes Return of Experience on projects deployed in the region
    • Leading the negotiation of Prebid agreements during the tender phase when it presents a significant advantage.
    • Building realistic, competitive and on-time tender cost commitment

    Skill and Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline, with 5 years' work experience in Procurement
    • High level of analytical skills and experience in driving global tender processes.
    • Ability for international travel.
    • Fluent in English.

    Artisan Boilermaker

    MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

    Tasks & Responsibilities:

    • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
    • To conduct quality self-inspection of own work before shipping to next station.
    • Maintain 5S condition of the working zone / Housekeeping.
    • Lay out plate, sheet steel or other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines
    • Shape metal using metalworking machines such as shears and drill presses
    • Cut metal plate and brackets using oxy-fuel torch, and chip and grind parts to shape for fitting together
    • Assemble products or production equipment following task sequencing and Work Instructions.
    • Fit and tack welding parts together using electric arc welding equipment
    • Exercise skills and knowledge of Boilermaker trade qualification
    • Position, align, and secure structural parts or related assemblies
    • Correctly instruct, and transfer skills to any apprentice and semi-skilled worked assigned to you to ensure safety and quality of work
    • Drive cost improvement initiatives through continuous improvement.
    • Maintain equipment standards (through First level maintenance schedules).
    • Identify and report any secondary damages.
    • Preparing and setting-up of necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
    • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements
    • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.

    MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

    Educational Requirements

    Mandatory:

    • Minimum Grade 12 / N3
    • Formal Trade Qualification in Boilermaker

    Desirable:

    • Welding Red Seal would be an add advantage
    • Recognize apprenticeship or ARPL  

    Experience

    Mandatory:

    • Minimum 3 - 5 years relevant Boilermaker fabrication experience
    • Knowledge of OSHACT

    Desirable:

    • None

    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to follow instructions.
