    Chief Accountant - Midrand

    What You Can Expect

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for the overall financial reporting activities of the Book to Report services and ensure business continuity through month end closing of the financial results, and fulfilling the operational requirements in terms of both statutory and external audits. Duties will include but is not limited to the following:

    • Overall responsibility for the Governance role related to Tax and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
    • Preparation of financial statements according to the local and international standards (IFRS)
    • Ensure all financial reporting processes are executed in accordance with BASF standards and guidelines
    • Lead and co-ordinate all the financial reporting activities with the support of the Hub in Berlin (Shared Service Centre)
    • Preparation and review of the VAT returns for specified BASF entities and full accountability of the Reverse VAT and monthly/quarterly/yearly Income Tax returns
    • Business Partner for the business and other service units in financial accounting related matters (including the technical expertise on Incoterms)
    • Act as contact for month end closing operational questions from Corporate Finance (CFP) and Financial Accounting and VAT topics from the Hub in Berlin.
    • Reviewer of the Country-by-Country reporting and the General Ledger reconciliations.
    • Ensuring the monthly clearing of the BASF bank accounts in preparation for month end closing activities including the coordination of the accrual process
    • Creating and updating the company's chart of accounts and accounting policy in accordance with Group standards, as well as in accordance with controlling requirements and tax law
    • Responsible for the monthly expense analysis for specified BASF entities
    • Provide the related party reconciliations for year end packs for external audits
    • Responsible for dividend, solvency and liquidity calculations and the booking thereof as well as drafting of resolutions and payments
    • Provide statistical reporting to Stats SA and other government agencies such as Central Bank of South Africa

    What We Expect

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
    • CA(SA) essential
    • Minimum of 5 year experience working in a Multinational organisation
    • SAP experience
    • Finance guidelines, Reporting, Financial Accounting (e.g., IFRS, GAAP)

    Senior Technical Representative (E-Coat) - VWSA

    What You Can Expect

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for liaising with the respective account managers and ensure the local commercial & technical product targets are met to support the sales budget. Duties will include the following:

    • Report any product, process, logistic irregularities to management & seek sustainable solutions to improve processes and create opportunities to maximize sales
    • Adherence to and compliance with all BASF guidelines and procedures. (e.g. Code of Conduct, Values and Principles, BASF Strategy)
    • Ensure a customer focused business environment, taking BASF’s business interests into account
    • Market the company’s products to optimize market share
    • Reach sales budget of respective BU`s, while keeping cost down
    • Provide operational guidance and support to the relevant CSO’s
    • Leadership responsibility for direct reports
    • Implement Local strategy in line with BU strategy to reach targets
    • Develop and implement value proposition model in line with BU and HQ strategy
    • Maintain and develop customer relationship to increase sales and explore business opportunities
    • Identify and implement possible improvements to business processes
    • Ensure ongoing market intelligence (e.g. market demand, market shares etc)
    • Responsible for the BU S&OP process and early involvement of supply chain team
    • Get support from HQ to be able to implement AG strategy
    • Operational guidance and support of the relevant CSO’s, responsible for S&OP process

    What We Expect

    • A Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in relevant field or proven track record in the industry
    • Minimum 5 years working experience in sales in the respective field
    • An established network in the field
    • Strong and excellent communication Skills
    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively
