    Publicist (Non fiction)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Preparing and implementing publicity and marketing plans for the group’s adult non-fiction titles
    • Liaising with the media to obtain maximum positive publicity for our non-fiction titles in all forms of traditional, digital and social media
    • Building and maintaining relationships with authors, media and booksellers
    • Arranging author tours and events
    • Working in conjunction with in-house editorial and sales departments
    • Writing and coordinating marketing information for use in, among others, media releases, newsletters, internet marketing, social media and internal communication
    • To work within a designated marketing and publicity budget

    Required Skills, Qualifications & Competencies:

    • Relevant diploma or degree with emphasis on publicity
    • At least 1 years’ experience in publicity in a related industry
    • An interest in South African current affairs, politics, history, identity and cultural issues
    • Excellent written and verbal skills in English, a basic proficiency in Afrikaans
    • Excellent communication and networking skills
    • Thorough understanding of the media
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Planning and organising skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
    • Creativity and innovation
    • Ability to be persuasive and negotiate
    • Problem solving skills

    Salon Manager - Cape Town

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Manage daily operations of the salon, including bookings and guest communication.
    • Ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and professionalism.
    • Manage a team of stylists, nail technicians, and therapists – including rosters, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Monitor stock levels, place orders, conduct stock takes and manage supplier relationships.
    • Manage overall administration tasks and troubleshooting.
    • Handle client bookings, feedback, and issue resolutions professionally and promptly.
    • Develop and implement promotional campaigns aligned with Media24 events and seasonal trends.
    • Maintain budgets, track KPIs, and report on performance to management.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
    • Assisting with treatments as and when needed

    What you would require:

    • Diploma in Beauty Therapy, or Salon Business Management
      (CIDESCO, SAAHSP, and/or ITEC preferred)
    •  Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Spa or Salon Manager
    •  At least 2 years’ hands-on experience as a Senior Beauty Therapist/Hair stylist
    • Strong knowledge of beauty, hair and basic aesthetic treatments
    • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building abilities
    • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook and Word
    • Experience with salon management software (e.g. ESP) advantageous
    • Understanding of HR practices, staff development, and performance management
    • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and priorities
    • Must have own reliable transport
