Purpose of this role:
This is a position within the production team. The Image controller will take responsibility for the consistent quality of our photographic studios output, which is most important for our customers and ensure accurate visual representation of all merchandise within all the Categories.
Key responsibilities / accountabilities:
- Key aspect of this position is to edit the RAW images in Capture One.
- Making all selects and ensuring that the How to Shoot guide is followed at all times.
- Cropping all images in RAW format so that the retouching team can finish the images off.
- Adjust exposure, adding grades and refining image quality in Post Production before sending to Retouching
- Colour correcting all images in RAW format.
- Assisting with retouching when needed, this is crucial for development of skills.
- Assisting photographers when help is needed.
- Providing PR agencies with catalogue images for print. (Delegate to Retouchers)
- Building a base of Freelance Retouchers to help out in busy periods.
- Taking care of all photography gear and making sure that it serviced and cleaned and locked up.
- Booking studio gear for all shoots and doing functional checks before and after shoots.
- Painting and maintaining all studio curves and walls.
- Keep an inventory of all the studio consumables and replenish when is has been depleted. (Photographers)
- Managing and maintaining all the studio Mac’s also making sure the servers is kept organised.
- Whatever is exported needs to correspond with the shooting calendar, if not the SC needs to reflect.
- A good relationship with the photographer will have to be kept.
- Work closely with the Lead Catalogue Stylist to ensure that everything is shot and ready for Post Production.
- Quarterly reviews of all Retouchers. (with you for now till team grows)
- Quality control of all executions within the Studio parameters
Qualifications and experience:
- Relevant Diploma or Degree
- 2 years + experience
- Good understanding of Photoshop & Capture One (2-3 years experience).
- Very methodical in procedures.
- Aspiring Perfectionist.
- Artistic eye for detail and uplifting images.
- Photography experience is a plus.

The Role
Ensuring patterns created and garments sealed are cost effective, production friendly and meet QA standards.
Reports to: Design Room Manager
Key Responsibilities
- A skilled worker that can create Manual Paper Patterns as well as Electronic Patterns on Gerber.
- Broad knowledge of pattern making in every category is key – Ladies Dresses, evening gowns, Jackets, Coats, Pants, Skirts, Blouses etc.
- Interpret the designer’s detailed brief and construct a pattern
- Ability to accurately trace off from Overseas samples and make required adjustments to the traced pattern
- Creating and maintaining a master pattern library that enables quick referencing to speed up pattern making process
- Need to think out of the box when it comes to simplifying construction but keeping the same look – for a better price and easier for production
- Knowledge of an array of fabric when it comes to the stretch and shrinkage reactions
- Able to adjust on the pattern according to the reaction of fabric and knowledge of grading
- Work closely with the seamstress on easier construction and ensure quality is up to standard
- Need to supply all pattern measurement as per required spec provided
- Supply lengths of elastic, zips, binding, trims, gauging, belt length etc.
- Fit styles with Designer and/or Garment Technologist depending on complexity of the style and the alterations.
- Process all pattern alterations as per required timeously according to priority.
- Once style is Sealed, and pattern is graded, need to check the graded nest before bulk is cut
- Making sure the pattern is balanced and according to required spec before signing off for production.
Key Requirements
- Diploma in Clothing Design / Patternmaking
- Manual as well as Gerber Accunest / Lectra Computerised pattern making experience is a requirement
- Minimum 5 years Patternmaking experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience working on Geber/Lectra
- Worked in a design centre / manufacturer supplying major retail chain stores would be advantageous
- Understanding of Customer Body Measurement charts and how this affects the fit of the garment
- Basic mathematical skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, ability to apply concept of basic geometry)

Key Responsibilities
Profit Maximisation
- Preparation of budgets, sales, stock and profit targets.
- Monitor performance against plan, taking appropriate action to maximise sales and profit and reduce stockholding whilst increasing stock turn.
- Identify new business opportunities to grow sales and profitability.
- Review, propose and implement mark-down activity to reduce terminal stock whilst analysing action taken on mark-downs to maximise profit.
- Communicate trading issues and forecasts with proposed actions to management and buyer.
- Implement promotional plans to optimise sales and profit.
- Measure brand/supplier performance against targets and make recommendations to grow or exit.
Range Building and Planning
