    Supports and facilitates top down and bottom up target and objective setting at a business /functional area level.

    Job Description

    Accountability: Product Design and Development
     

    • Provides the design and development of new and existing products, taking to market and run of
    • compelling and commercially viable product propositions spanning the product lifecycle;
    • Drives innovation around the product development and management cycle.
    • Prepare business cases for new product developments.
    • Manage marketing collateral of wealth-owned banking and credit products.
    • Responsible for the operational query resolution on all aspects of the respective Product
    • portfolio relating to product propositions

    Accountability: Product Management

    • Collaborates with the respective stakeholders in ensuring that Product value propositions
    • seamlessly integrate into segment and sector value propositions to support “golden baskets”
    • and enable the acquisition and retention of customers in specific segments and sectors to
    • support the targeted commercial and customer shapes.
    • Management and coordination of activities relating to roll out of new products and product enhancements.
    • Responsible for updates and change of product and process documentation.
    • Provides exception reporting on rate and fee deviations and revenue leakage in maintaining key
    • product performance indicators for the respective Product portfolio
    • Implementation of new product or changes to existing products into the business.
    • Manage specific product back-book and clean-up initiatives
    • Leverages the Pricing team for implementation of annual re-pricing processes, maintaining
    • pricing tables drafting of communication and related marketing material.
    • In collaboration with the Pricing team conduct annual (bi-annual) review of Product pricing and
    • recommends pricing guidelines to ensure market competitiveness
    • Provide recommendations for the review cycle of pricing changes and communication thereof.
    • To ensure optimal and compliant control environment within the respective Product Portfolio
    • that appropriately balance risk appetites and customer demand with the need to grow to
    • achieve the financial ambitions and balance sheet aspirations of RBB
    • Accountability: Stakeholder Management
    • Responsibility for service monitoring from product providers and monitors client experience
    • with particular emphasis on banking products.
    • Ensures service delivery is in line with SLA’s.
    • Drive interaction with all relevant Infrastructure areas across the business in addressing product
    • management requirements and priorities.
    • Drive relevant communication related to product changes or new product implementations.
    • Participate in Group-level activities and forums that impact the respective Product portfolio.
    • Effectively communicate developments within areas of activity to all relevant internal and
    • external stakeholders.
    • Accountability: Finance
    • Monitor financial performance of products within the Bank by reviewing financial KVD’s
    • Compile Medium term plans (MTP) and Short Term Plans (STP) budgets on an annual basis
    • and track performance against these budgets
    • Quarterly compilation of Revised Annual Forecast (RAF)
    • Understand financial impact of product development and marketing activities in order to align
    • with budgets available

    • Develop and implement new products that meet the defined Retail Bank target market

    • Responsible for supporting the development, execution and tracking of overall strategy by working with Exco as well as other key stakeholders to incorporate the Absa vision, strategic intent, strategic objectives, key measurements agreed and monitoring of key business programmes, thus ensuring the delivery of the strategy.
    • Manage the key inter-relationships/ dependencies between the overall strategic intent (centrally managed) for Business planning, execution functions residing with the Business/ Functional areas to ensure alignment between functional areas and overall business and to ensure that the overall strategy, together with the key measurements are delivered and realised.
    • Driving communication for the formal Business Agenda and key themes across the business at different Management levels, targets, audiences
    • Accountability: Performance Reporting
    • Drive the Senior Executive¡¦s strategic reporting requirements by delivering all reporting requests from and to all senior Management stakeholders promptly and in line with STP
    • Co-ordinate Medium Term Plans (MTP) to guide top-down target setting by informing optimal trade-offs for the greater good of the bank as well as for RBB as a whole.

    • Manage the respective products by aligning to the product lifecycle stage i.e. from concept to back book.
    • Understand and interpret products based on robust analysis and aligned with the respective portfolio strategy i.e. financial models, customer survey findings and overall product strategy resulting in informed recommendations as to the future direction/strategy of the product portfolio across the Bank
    • Assume responsibility for performance monitoring and proactive management of the products by understanding the key performance drivers including behavioural trends, financial indicators and growth/performance metrics
    • Report to EXCO and relevant Product Head on the performance of the specific product portfolio, via the monthly EXCO and Product Dashboard report on the individual products' performance and trends in the market
    • Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B-degree (NQF-level 7)
    • 3 - 5 years Digital Design & Digital Product Management Experience
    • 3 - 5 years Banking Product Development and or Management Experience

    Senior Legal Counsel: RBB Litigation

    To develop tactical strategy and delivery plans, formulate associated practice/s and to ensure operational implementation and adoption i.t.o. legal methodology, governance and delivery objectives.

    Job Description

    Looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has become available for the role of Senior Legal Counsel to join our Group Litigation team. The successful candidate will be a qualified Lawyer/attorney with 5 – 8 years post qualification experience and will be required to support our Retail Banking Business, dealing with litigation matters including: court cases, disputes, subpoenas.

    You will be responsible for identifying and managing legal risk, providing pro-active legal advice on a day to day basis, support and risk management and a small team of Legal Specialist.

    Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Build relationships with key senior stakeholders within the legal and business functions across AGL and become a trusted advisor.
    • Communicate and distil legal concepts to the business function, ensuring that lessons learned are communicated both within and outside the Legal fraternity.
    • Ensure effective and appropriate verbal and written communication of the legal policies to internal clients.
    • Provide legally sound solutions to business problems
    • Manage, evaluate and prioritise tasks in accordance with business needs
    • Proactive monitoring of compliance of the legal risk control framework
    • Act on legal risks notified in the legal risk reports, by raising it with the business stakeholders and addressing it as far as possible in whatever way and means required to sufficiently mitigate risk
    • Ensure that all risks are sufficiently addressed in agreements entered by the bank; understanding the requirements of business, legal issues and possible business risks and incorporating clauses in the agreements to address such risks and requirements
    • Assist in structuring, negotiating & drafting legal agreements and documentation relating to standard agreements, transactions and new products
    • Provide high quality support to the business as required by interacting with different legal and business stakeholders
    • Coach and mentor junior team members on a daily basis on how to improve their own productivity and use of the bank’s processes and systems

    Academic and professional qualifications:

    • Law degree: B Juris or B Proc or LLB
    • Admitted attorney or advocate in RSA or other similar jurisdiction
    • Degree from a leading educational institution with good academic results

    Skills and Experience:

    • Understanding of the banking business and product offerings would be of benefit.
    • Some in house financial services experience is preferred.
    • Ability to advise at a senior business level and establish credibility very quickly
    • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills
    • Business awareness, prioritisation of risk and strong commercial focus
    • Ability to take a commercial view within legal constraints
    • Ability to manage a large (and often fluid) workload with effective prioritisation as well as deliver under pressure and at speed
