    Specialist: MI & Reporting Analyst

    Job Summary

    To plan, manage and monitor the implementation of management information systems (MIS) activities and processes in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an effective and efficient manner.

In this role you will perform analysis and programming duties in the development, implementation and support of information systems and applications. In this environment it is focused on the clear and precise development to enable business reporting as well as application support and development where needed.

    Ability to do Management information reporting as well as development and maintenance is key as it is not a pure programming or data analysis environment.

    The team is currently migrating off of relational databases onto Hadoop and MongoDB environments as well as potentially moving into cloud environments.

    They maintain an Angular application using the mean stack and we maintain the full stack in this environment integration with a number of Rest API’s used for integration to our sources as well as ODBC and JDBC for integration to other large data sources.

    A wide and diverse knowledge of computer systems and different architecture and technology is needed. Especially around QlikView, Angular (Full Stack Developer) and Hadoop (SPARK, AMBARI, KAFKA) 

     

    Key Accountabilities

    • Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify computer systems, programs and integrations.

    • Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify reporting and dashboards, and integrations to multiple sources of information.

    • Apply system-analyst techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software or systems functional specifications

    • Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing a work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.

    • Program the computer by encoding project requirements in computer language; entering coded information into the computer.

    • Analyze user information system needs.

    • Document the functionality and requirements.

    • Research, evaluate and recommend solutions and appropriate technology to meet user's needs.

    • Provides reference for use of prime and personal computers by writing and maintaining user documentation; maintaining a help desk.

    • Maintains computer systems and programming guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.    

    •  Develops and maintains applications and databases by evaluating client needs; analyzing requirements; developing software systems.

    • Develops and maintains reports and dashboards by evaluating client needs; analyzing requirements; developing the reports and maintain these as needed.

     

    Education and Experience Required

    • Associate's Degree in computer related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experience in systems design, programming and/or systems software and support.

    • 3 years developer experience in JavaScript, JQuery, Node, MongoDB, SPARK etc.

    Job Summary

    Develop tactical strategy and delivery plans, formulate associated practice/s and ensure operational implementation and adoption i.t.o. claims management methodology, governance and delivery objectives.

    Job Description

    • Leadership: Achieve client satisfaction through effective leadership of staff i.e. through the formulation and implementation of initiatives to improve and enhance staff morale, motivation, level of skill, professionalism, work and commitment to service delivery. Explain targets to all claims staff and take accountability for the monitoring and achievement of performance objectives in the department in terms of employee satisfaction, customer experience, cost performance, return on investments, risk, compliance and governance requirements by creating quarterly and monthly plans in order to ensure delivery for the year. | Service Excellence/Customer Centricity: Ensure excellent client service (e.g. ensure CSI targets are above 80%) by constantly reinforcing service excellence principals i.e. to answer a telephone within 3 rings, with all staff | Business Management: Manage and contain claim spend by ensuring efficient cost control procedures are followed at all times.     Platform Design, Deployment & Optimisation

    •  Leads development test and platform management, translating customer, business and technical requirements into components of a service
