    Sales Assistant- Pretoria

    Job Description

    • Birkenstock Brookyln is looking for a Sales assistant to join their team.

    Responsibilities:

    Customer Service & Sales

    • Acknowledge every customer within 30 seconds.
    • Deliver excellent customer service to every customer following the Birkenstock customer service procedures.
    • Establish your customer’s needs and use your technical knowledge to demonstrate benefits to meet those needs.
    • Close the sale & secure add on sales.
    • Invite your customer to back & turn them into Birkenstock fans.
    • Monitor your daily sales against your individual budget every few hours.

    Inventory

    • Replenish footwear, apparel and accessories from the storeroom daily.
    • Minimizing shrinkage by zoning the store, acknowledge customers, and following the Birkenstock changing room policy.
    • Ensure stock entries in the POS systems are accurate.
    • Process deliveries by checking quantities, invoices, tagging, hanging and pricing product, and recording in the POS System
    • Process customer orders.

    Daily Operations

    • Ensure store housekeeping is maintained daily including dusting, cleaning mirrors, vacuuming, emptying bins, clearing counter area and tidying change rooms.
    • Assist the manager with open and closing the store.

    Training

    • Your training is your responsibility.
    • Ensure you are allocated a buddy initially & that you learn from them.
    • You must attend quarterly training sessions & complete the assessments.
    • Ensure you receive monthly feedback from your manager.
    • Set up monthly meeting with your store manager to discuss your progress through the Birkenstock rookie pack.
    • These are essential as they will determine your eligible for promotions.

    Merchandising

    • Observe the store & maintain stock presentation in accordance to the Birkenstock standards.
    • Ensure sizes are replenished.
    • Assist the team to change the windows/ Mannequins fortnightly.
    • Ensure POS materials are stored in the area to avoid damage.
    • Grade 12 or Equivalent
    • Min. 6 months customers services experience
    • Birkenstock knowledge advantageous
    • Able to work flexible shifts.

    Buyer Internship

    Job Description

    • The position watches consumer patterns, such as seasonal purchasing and presents their findings to the planning and management teams. Additionally, the Junior Buyer offers insight on ways to alter merchandise assortments in order to increase revenue and minimise loss.
    • This is done by analysing sales data (macro & micro consumer trends and spending), frequent reporting cadence, planning tools management and highlighting inventory areas which need addressing.               

    Analyst

    • Monitor sales data, by price, category, trend, geography, consumer, etc., post season, in season and pre-season
    • Identify and understand purchasing trends and make recommendations, for example “X% of consumers in Sandton are shopping for kids, making up X% of total business. Propose to increase Kids mix and inventory to X level”
    • Monitoring the timing and scope of seasonal changes
    • Make recommendations and assist with merchandising
    • Develop supply strategies that will minimize stock outs while maximising inventory turns
    • Develop and continuously evaluate all reports from purchase orders to sales history, seasonal sales analysis, aged inventory & liquidation plans
    • Communicating with Stores where necessary
    • Monitoring in season trade and react accordingly
    • Set up seasonal line lists per store
    • Analyse Market Place sales and assist in ensuring the right product is available at the right time.

    Inventory Management

    • Understand and maintain desired inventory levels, inventory turns, OTB and assortments.
    • Ensure plans are in place to meet consumer trends, marketing launches, promotional activation, etc.
    • Oversee shipping, receiving and warehousing of merchandise
    • Develop and maintain an integrated planning process that deals with customer demand, upselling opportunities in high demand end uses, EOL & stock to management in accordance with budgeted guidance (OTB), to consume against future seasons.
    • Develop and maintain inventory reporting (achievement to target, margins, inventory health, shipping schedule vs SAP, etc.)
    • Placing Purchase Orders (pre & in season)
    • Order Tracking and reporting
    • GTM, SKU, Pricing and Order form setup
    • Develop and maintain an accurate ATS (Available to Sell) to be refreshed and published on a frequent cadence
    • Assist with pricing structure for staff purchases and sample sales when necessary

    Account Manager

    Main purpose:   

    • To lead and develop a high performance, customer-centric team that focuses on building and optimising customer relationships at all levels with the goal of achieving sales and profit targets through effective planning, management, and execution.   

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 1: Sales Management

    • Responsible for the creation of budgets and forecasts of the wholesale channel by territory and by key account, SIS, elite accounts, speciality and independent
    • Management of sales pipeline and white space document to be constantly reviewed to ascertain market potential.
    • Develop sales strategies, setting revenue and margin targets, territorial growths, account, and door growth targets, m2 growth targets, SIS targets, end-use growth targets and percentage contributions and account plans.
    • Drive sales and motivate the sales force to ensure all sales targets are achieved.
    • Conduct store visits - own, customer and competitor - to review trends, customer specific issues and competitor activities to help formulate strategic plans and be proactive in reacting to market conditions.
    • Manage the full GTM sales process from planning, co-ordinating and developing sales tools that directly support the sell-in process for both existing and new accounts.
    • Foster good relationships with all customers, specifically SIS accounts. Assisting them with growth strategies and suggestions for expansion, planning and in stock programs within their business
    • Foster on-going professional relationships with existing customers and sales force, creating a culture of consultative selling, monitoring sell through data, replenishment suggestions to maximise sales, promotion suggestions, seasonal planning.
    • Attend international sales conferences and product meetings

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 2: STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

    • Build close working relationships with other members of the management team.
    • Along with merchandising, maintain good product mix, ensuring responsible segmentation by end-use and G.B.B tiering with full head to toe + accessories buy-in per account.
    • Work with S&OP and cross functional teams to drive alignment and visibility in relation to wholesale numbers, forecasts, management of order book and market feedback.
    • Management of Brand Ninja's (Together with Marketing) development, planning, monitoring, appraisal of outputs - always ensuring a collaborative effort and effective communication of vision and strategies to drive VM excellence, training, in-stock guidance per customer, potential up selling and relationship development.
    • Help marketing to identify opportunities for new promotions within all channels.
    • Support the Key Account Manager/Agents in negotiations with customers - specifically but not limited to promotion confirmations and price increases.
    • Ensure customer service team provides exceptional service in accordance with the companies' service level standards through the monitoring and reporting on service standards and procedures.
    • Manage, review performance, mentor and develop subordinates to ensure strong engagement and understanding of their roles in achieving the company sales goals.
    • Provide stakeholders with recommendations on product mix and performance of the brand through monthly reporting and analysis of sales reports.
    • Formulate, with finance, sales incentives for the sales team working within prescribed budgets.
    • Lead by example according to company policies, develop and drive a high performance, accountable culture

    • Experience working within a retail, wholesale or e‑commerce sales environment.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting key or field customer accounts.
    • Proven ability to prepare and manage sales reports, budgets, forecasts and account plans.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP (advantageous).
    • Ability and willingness to travel locally as required for customer and field engagement.

    Industry Knowledge
