    Category Planner Fashion & Cosmetic Accessories/Claire's

    • We have a permanent position available in our Planning Department, as a Category Planner.
    • As a Category Planner you will ensure that the Merchandise budget supports business goals, introduce new products and exit slow movers effectively.

    Purpose and Objectives

    • To meet overall business objectives by developing category sales, gross profit and inventory plans (merchandise plans) based on the operating plan on an annual basis and review on an on-going basis. 
    • To translate the new product inventory flow plan into store specific allocations by setting the initial allocation quantities when launching products into the business to maximise stock efficiencies.
    • To generate and collate information and then apply sound business thinking to provide the category team with insights to assist the team to plan and manage the category effectively.
    • To incorporate the consensus demand forecast into the category plans (COP and financials) in order to achieve the agreed business stock objectives.
    • To follow the promotions process and then provide insights based on the input from the demand planning systems which adds value to the quantification process of the category promotional volumes.
    • To provide insights for the Range Review process based on the analysis of the relevant information to add value to the quantification process of new lines and space changes.
    • To ensure de-ranged products are exited and sold through within the specified time frames.
    • To contribute favourably to category and SIOP meetings and regularly review performance indicators, such as sales, inventory, operations and planning, keeping the business updated on financial performance versus market and plan.
    • To prepare, report, and communicate sales, GP and inventory measurements, conduct post mortems on events to management (sales, inventory plan vs. targets).
    • To collaborate with Category to ensure top down forecast aligns with OTB forecast within the planning horizon.

    Job Related Knowledge

    • Knowledge and understanding of planning process including stock flow and stock availability
    • Knowledge of planning systems and variables
    • Knowledge of supply chain processes
    • Knowledge of all merchandise functions - e.g., buying, supply chain
    • Knowledge of financial planning
    • Knowledge of assortment management and range reviews
    • Knowledge of demand or supplier planning / forecasting

    Job Experience

    Essential

    • 3-5 years in FMCG retail or other related working environments as a Planner

     Education

    • Relevant B.Com Degree (Essential)

    Training Manager (Pharmaceutical)

    • To coordinate and consolidate learning and development needs in line with the operating plan.
    • To develop and implement an annual learning and development calendar in line with budget and transformation targets in order to build organisational capability.
    • To ensure delivery of learning and development interventions in line with quality standards in order to achieve learning outcomes and business objectives.
    • To monitor and evaluate learning and development interventions and delivery in order to ensure positive business and learner impact as well as continuous improvement.
    • To ensure coordination, completion and submission of the WSP/ATR in line with business and SETA requirements and to optimise skills development grants.
    • To develop and implement a graduate and pharmacy intern development programme in order to address scarce and critical skills and build a talent pipeline.

    • To develop and implement management development interventions for middle and senior managers in order to build generic management capability.
    • To ensure compliance to group policies, quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements.
    • To manage resources in order to deliver the operating plan and business needs.

    Requirements

    Job Knowledge:

    • Learning and development theories and principles; HR management; labour legislation; Skills Development Act, BBBEE, EE Act, Organisational behaviour and psychology
    • Knowledge of leadership and management development theories and principles
    • Desireable: Knowledge of the health and pharmacy regulatory environment

    Job Related Skills:

    • Development of learning material; learning facilitation; planning and organising; training needs analysis; project management; presentation skills; budgeting and financial management, administration and people management
    • Learning assessment and moderation
    • Coaching Skills

    Job Experience:

    • Essential: 5-8 years L and D specific, with 5 years in management in a large, multi-site organisation
    • Desirable: 2 years experience of training delivery within a FMCG/ retail environment

    Education:

    • Essential: 4 year pharmacy tertiary qualification, (B Pharm degree)
    • Essential: Registered Assessor essential
    • Desirable: Registered Moderator
