    Packaging Manager (PM0114)

    Purpose:

    • The Packaging Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete bottling and packaging function. The Manager ensures all packaging lines and processes are used optimally and cost efficiency to achieve the set out plan. The incumbent is responsible for and will continually strive to ensure that only food safe, quality products and services that meets all applicable standards and requirements (legal, regulatory and client), are supplied with integrity.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • At least 7-10 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Excellent understanding of Lean manufacturing
    • At least 5 years’ experience of people management and performance management systems.

    Work Related Experience:

    • Solid understanding of and 7 - 10 years’ experience in bottling/labelling & packaging processes
    • Excellent communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
    • Excellent planning/organising and control/co-ordinating skills
    • Production process fault finding skills

    Financial Responsibility

    • Analyse and interpret financial information
    • Accountable for total Packaging department OPEX and CAPEX

    Job Summary:

    • Develop and implement strategic processes, policies and procedures for packaging department
    • Set-up & Maintain Packaging comprehensive cost centre, Capex & Extra-ordinary budget
    • Approval / Reject SAP requisitions
    • Overall management of variances in relevant business structures (production orders)
    • Ensure weekly production reports are completed and reported to GM
    • Maintain and update packaging BSC and provide information to Executive: Operations.
    • Manage the comprehensive bottling and packaging processes
    • Continually liaise with Team leaders and QC Manager
    • Identify deviations and or problems and make adjustments when necessary
    • Make recommendations in committee meetings (such as technical, quality control and external bottling)
    • Identify and liaise with prospective bottling suppliers
    • Identify machinery needs and conduct research analysis
    • Monitor product quality during production process
    • Ensure department comply fully with governance/audit/risk standards
    • Ensure continuous improvement on production lines,   standards and efficiencies
    • Ensure effective handling of projects and  insourcing of products
    • Ensure limited downtime on production lines
    • Continuous improvement in change over times and line speed
    • continuous improvement in production efficiencies
    • Effective scheduling of production lines
    • Regular routine communication via management structure and communication channels
    • Create and ensure a positive organisational culture climate and conduct regular one-on-one sessions , motivate, develop and coach employees
    • General HR function to employees (approval of leave etc.)

    • Accountable for SLA’s and management of all contract packers to KWV both on and off site

    • Our client, a leading manufacturer of automotive body parts, is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join their team in Durban. This role involves sourcing and procuring materials, products, and services essential for the company's operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing inventory levels to ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising on quality. Strong supplier relationship management is key to success in this position

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify, assess, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and delivery capabilities.
    • Negotiate contracts, including pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions, to ensure favourable agreements.
    • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure competitive advantages and seamless communication.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues to ensure compliance with contract terms.
    • Process purchase orders and coordinate procurement based on departmental needs and stock levels.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services to meet operational and production requirements.

    • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to optimize stock rotation and minimize waste.
    • Manage procurement within budget constraints, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
    • Track purchasing expenditures and analyse data to enhance financial efficiency.
    • Oversee supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and conditions.
    • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions and financial instability of suppliers.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and supplier communications.
    • Work closely with various departments, including operations, finance, production, and logistics, to align procurement with business needs.
    • Coordinate with finance to process payments, manage invoices, and resolve discrepancies.
    • Regularly evaluate supplier performance based on quality standards and delivery timelines.
    • Utilize knowledge of automotive die-making and stamping processes in procurement decisions.
    • Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate material and component selection.
    • Uphold quality standards in all purchasing activities to support operational excellence.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by following safety protocols and using required PPE.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education and Experience: 

    • Bachelor Degree in Business / Supply Chain Management
    • 3 - 5 years relevant experience in Purchasing
    • Experience with global sourcing and managing international suppliers
    • SAP
