    Plennegy Research: Laboratory Technician (Pathology)

    Description

    • A role for Laboratory Technician has become available in the Pathology Laboratory. The purpose of this role is to aid and undertake routine laboratory and glasshouse tasks in the Research Laboratories in support to all pathologists.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create or print labels for laboratory or glasshouse use.
    • Planting of seeds for seed health tests and bio-assays.
    • Prepare relevant buffers for extractions and inoculations.
    • Correct labelling and storage of samples.
    • Maintaining and updating lab journal daily.
    • Update and maintain database of sample progress.
    • Ensure sufficient stock of agar plates of relevant media available for all routine work.
    • Pathogen culture maintenance in collaboration with other pathologists.
    • Disposal of waste in Wastech containers daily and removal and autoclaving of old samples, used plates and other phytosanitary material.
    • Store all documents in relevant files daily.
    • Keep stock of consumables, relevant chemicals, and Elisa kits.
    • General maintenance of incubators, autoclave, laminar flow cabinets, balances, microscopes, fridges and freezers and all other lab equipment.

    Requirements
    REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Diploma in Plant Pathology or BSc Agric or BSc
    • Laboratory skills, Excel
    • 1 year experience as a graduate or intern

    • Mascor is currently looking for a Trainee parts salesperson who will learn to utilize knowledge of parts to focus on excellent customer service.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    SALES

    • Achieve product knowledge within set timeframe
    • Order parts in accordance with standard operating procedures
    • Adhere to standard operating procedures and matrix reports
    • Attend to customers and process orders timeously

    ADMINISTRATION

    • Ensure that all parts are charged when issued
    • Process all returns not invoice and ensure credit notes are issued timeously.
    • Ensure that all communications are done timeously.

    HOUSEKEEPING

    • Ensure that parts department is neat and tidy and includes marketing displays
    • Ensure that all parts are stored in accordance with standards.

    RECEIVING AND BINNING

    • Ensure that incoming goods are accurate, reporting all discrepancies and damages.
    • Bin all received parts accurately
    • Ensure correct marking on parts to be binned
    • Ensure that binned parts are in saleable condition

    Requirements
    REQUIREMENTS:
    Qualifications:

    • Min: Grade 12

    Experience:

    • Basic knowledge of low spec agricultural machines and equipment
