Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, package, and enrich stories for Huisgenoot.com;
• Create content for Huisgenoot's social media platforms and work on Huisgenoot's newsletters;
• Enrich magazine content for digital platforms;
• Comply with Huisgenoot's quality, style, and content standards;
• Comply with the requirements of the South African Press Code.

Experience, Skills, and Characteristics:

• Excellent writing skills in Afrikaans;
• Diploma or degree in journalism, languages or media studies;
• At least two or three years of experience in the digital media environment;
• Experience with video and audio production beneficial;
• Good general knowledge;
• Understand how to use social media;
• Knowledge of the publication's target market;
• Knowledge of current affairs;
• Proficiency in relevant computer software packages;
• Passion for the media;
• Good people skills;
• Good decision-making ability;
• Perseverance and results-oriented mindset;
• Interviewing and listening skills;
• The ability to work independently;
• Endurance;
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
• Good time management and the ability to perform and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.

• At least 3 years’ experience as a reporter.
