    EHSQ Specialist - JHB

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • As part of the Africa Responsible Care and Quality organization, the successful incumbent will be expected to provide professional guidance (legal, technical, and other applicable EHSQ standards) to BASF sites, to ensure compliance with all legislative and BASF Responsible Care (RC) as well as other applicable standards. Duties include the following:
    • Provide professional guidance as the EHSQ Specialist to ensure compliance with Responsible Care and Occupational Health and Safety legislation at all BASF sites in the division
    • Drive legal compliance and lead internal and external audits
    • Coordinate and ensure the implementation of BASF Group Health and Safety Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Best Practices
    • Support sites in conducting safety risk assessments, inspections, and exposure assessments related to hazardous chemicals
    • Review and analyze risk assessments, propose counter-measures, and monitor implementation
    • Support incident investigations and ensure proper recording, reporting, and investigation of accidents and incidents
    • Ensure regular health and safety meetings are held and minutes are kept
    • Ensure contractors adhere to health and safety specifications
    • Drive the culture of safety ownership with a strong emphasis on behavior-based safety
    • Inspect and evaluate working areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Tertiary qualification in Science or Technical Field
    • Minimum of 4-8 years experience in an EHS position
    • Formal qualification and knowledge of EHS (e.g. OHS Act) Legislation and related SANS codes are desirable
    • Formal qualification in SHEQ systems (SAMTRAC, NEBOSH TQM, etc.) will be advantageous
    • Fluent in English and fully computer literate
    • Excellent communication skills to align with customers, service providers, experts, and relevant functions
    • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle with willingness and ability to travel

    Development Trial Specialist (Western Cape)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for the management of allocated development projects in such a manner as to achieve the necessary statistical data to effect ethical product registrations in the shortest possible time.

    Duties will include the following:

    • Construction of trial protocols in accordance with Good Agricultural Practice and BASF guidelines in ARM
    • Allocating and Contracting external researchers/institutions to conduct the required trials in accordance with the relevant protocols and in the required bioclimatic regions
    • Ensure that trials are conducted in accordance with protocol requirements and good experimental practice
    • Review trial data submitted by contracted researchers to ensure the quality and integrity thereof
    • Verification and approval of invoices from contracted researchers prior to submission for payment and submission of ARM trial data into the BASF SPEAD database
    • Querying of the SPEAD database to extract statistical analyses of trials and projects for report compilations
    • Construction of trial result & project progress presentations for technical meetings with colleagues
    • Compilation of Project Executive Summaries for insertion into Registration Dossier
    • Compile presentations for training purposes on completed projects
    • Advise and mentor colleagues on technical aspects
    • Manage the allocated Project and Trial programs according to Key Tasks
    • Maintenance of a trial management database

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum BSc. in Agriculture or 10 years of relevant agricultural research experience
    • Minimum 5 years experience in crops grown in the Cape region
    • 3 years of commercial agricultural experience, working with farmers
    • A working knowledge of ARM and SPEAD databases would be an advantage
    • A high level of competence in MS Office

    National Sales Manager - JHB

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for leading the BASF Agricultural Solutions Sales division, drive business growth in South Africa, manage and develop a high-performing sales team, and oversee budgeting, forecasting, pricing, rebates, discounts and ROI with regular feedback the country manager and stakeholders.
    • Lead BASF Agricultural Solutions Sales division and drive business growth in South Africa, while managing and developing a sales team
    • Develop and monitor annual budgets, selling costs, and sales forecasts to achieve sales budgets while main-taining transparency in selling cost and close any sales gaps
    • Implement distributor and agent contracts, manage forecasts, products on the ground, etc.
    • Create strategic sales plans to align with marketing efforts and achieve budget goals while developing pricing strategies to maintain ROI and margins.
    • Manage loyalty programs with customers and ensure timely payments while minimizing outstanding balances
    • Plan and implement sales operation activities such as farmer days, product launches, and crop campaigns on time
    • Collaborate with commercial excellence team on strategies for successful execution of sales activities
    • Ensure compliance with business ethics internally and externally along the value chain
    • Collaborate with financial controller, supply chain, technical & marketing management teams to keep them informed of sales activities
    • Align all sales activities with parent product & brand strategy standards while promoting the use of CRM/Salesforce programs for driving business success
    • Manage the sales team's set-out standard, ensuring clarity on expectations and goals for sustainable ROI and budget achievement
    • Utilize effective leadership and management principles to motivate, skill, drive, and focus the sales team and agents on meeting set-out budgets
    • Foster a high-performance culture through continuous feedback, individual development plans, coaching culture for all team members to maximize efficiency and job satisfaction

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • ​​​​Tertiary qualification in Business Management coupled with at least 10 years’ business experience
    • Extensive leadership background in high-level management positions
    • In-depth understanding of the industry's market dynamics
    • Solid financial expertise and comprehension of business strategy
    • Well-versed in crop protection products, including fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides
    • Proficient in both Afrikaans and English languages
    • Proficient in delivering effective presentations
    • Excellent communication skills enabling collaboration across all levels
