    Contract: Senior Quantity Surveyor X2 (DBN & JHB)

    Position Outputs

    • Align to Cost Recovery project strategy.
    • Evaluate historic contracts and payments to identify focus areas where there are high probabilities of contractor overcharge.
    • Develop and obtain approval on plan and approach to Cost Recovery project.
    • Direct QS on the project approach to cost recovery methodologies.
    • Review reports, spreadsheets and calculations compiled by QS on the Cost Recovery project.
    • Compile memos, position papers, etc. and obtain approval thereof on the articulation of the contractual arguments of the Cost Recovery project.
    • Participate and engage with legal counsel, both internal and external to TPL where required.
    • Assist the PMO Leads in the improvement of existing or future contracting strategies based on lessons learnt from Cost Recovery project.
    • Assist the PMO Leads in Quantity Surveying and Contract Management strategies and methodologies.
    • Assist in other Quantity Surveying and Contract Management matters within the Estimating & QS department.
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Able to perform cost planning, value engineering, value management, cost benefit analysis, life-cycle costing, risk analysis, tendering, valuation, change control, dispute resolution, claims management, cost estimation and value for money assessments.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • B/B.Sc Degree or higher specialising in Quantity Surveying.
    • Professional Registration with the SA Council of Quantity Surveying Professionals Experience
    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on large multidisciplinary construction / engineering projects.
    • Experience within the hydrocarbon/ Petro-chemical industry is preferred.
    • Environmental project experience is beneficial OR If the incumbent holds a BTech/ Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying the experience requirement is a minimum of 10 years

    Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical

    Position Purpose

    • Responsible for performing all technical maintenance activities as determined in the Maintenance Schedule and recording of all discrepancies identified during the required inspection operations.
    • Certifying maintenance release of all technical work when authorised.  
    • Ensuring the provision of an airworthy aircraft, complying with manufacturers, regulatory authorities, and TNPA processes and procedures.

    • Signs maintenance release of all avionic work when authorised.
    • Ensure provision of an airworthy aircraft, complying with manufacturers, regulatory authority, and TNPA standards to the customer.
    • Maintain high technical standards and readiness of TNPA aircraft for efficient service delivery.
    • Record all activities being performed through the use of approved documentation in a clear and concise manner showing all actions taken as a result of work accomplished.
    • Maintain sound technical practices that include systematic troubleshooting to determine aircraft malfunctions and rectification.
    • Perform all maintenance activities (including compass swings, radio, instrumentation, electrical cabling and modifications) as determined in the Approved Schedule and when necessary record all discrepancies identified during the required inspection process for analysis.

    • Supervision, mentorship and endorsement of junior engineers’ logbooks.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Hold a valid AME license applicable to TNPA aircraft with W or X ratings. Trade certificate. Avionics general certificate. Aircraft type course (s). 3 years aircraft maintenance experience as a qualified avionics AME.

    Trainee Cargo Co-ordinator

    Position Purpose

    • Safely and cost effectively control cargo operations (loading, off-loading, stacking, gate control, weighing) through checking, inspecting and reporting on all dispatched and received containers by road or rail and capture all actions on the NaVis system in accordance to the Terminal Standard Operating Procedures.

    Position Outputs

    • Physical check of incoming trains.
    • Physically check actual container, wagon, seal numbers, reefer cable and damages and instruct General Worker to unlock the twist locks.
    • Execute equipment utilisation off-loading sequence.
    • Ensure that train is on working stage. d. Instruct and observe safe off-loading by Operator.
    • Capture actual container off-loading information on HHT (Hand Held terminal)
    • Check and report on discrepancies/damages and contamination to be reported immediately to Supervisors.
    • Physical check of outgoing trains.
    • Physically check empty wagons and record wagon numbers, type of wagon and carrying capacity.
    • Record outgoing wagon list and forward to Senior Cargo
    • Obtain load sheet with container list to be loaded.
    • Instruct General Worker to set twist locks.
    • Plan equipment utilisation loading sequence.
    • Instruct and observe safe loading by Operator.
    • Capture actual container loading information on HHT (Hand Held Terminal)
    • Instruct and ensure that General workers lock twist locks.
    • Check and report on discrepancies/damages and contamination to be reported immediately to Supervisors.
    • Control stacking and de-stacking of containers
    • Identify stack allocations
    • Create stack capacity based on housekeeping
    • Oversee the stacking action
    • Record the stacking position
    • Verify physical stacking position by utilising manual yard report or HHT
    • Capture new position where relevant.
    • Obtain number of empty stack containers and type per customer

    • Weigh and record the combination weight on weighbridge software (Klerkscale) and print weight slip and attach stamped documents.
    • Ensure correct capturing of in-gate process details on NaVis system (e.g weight details, sap no)
    • Conduct out–gate check of road haulers
    • Check and verify documentation supplied by client
    • Verify the driver, vehicle and trailer and conduct thorough inspection of container (i.e seals, container number, damages)

    Base Controller

    Position Purpose

    • To oversee aviation operations for Richards Bay/Cape Town Port and to ensure that TNPA aircraft operations are undertaken efficiently in support of TNPA’s pilotage service.
    • Under directives and guidance from the Chief Pilot: Aviation & Operations Manager: Aviation lead a team of aviation personnel and support personnel in the Port of Richards Bay/Cape Town to ensure that the highest standards of aviation operations and safety are adhered to at all times. Ensure that facility and equipment are well maintained to comply with operational requirements.
    • To ensure that operations are in full compliance with the regulatory authorities such as the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) and the Department of Transport (DoT).

    Position Outputs

    • Assist the Chief Pilot: Aviation & Operations Manager: Aviation in developing plans and roadmaps for efficient and safe aviation operations that comply with regulatory requirements and TNPA processes and procedures.

    • Oversee the manning and efficiency of flight operations, and training programmes in lieu with Chief Pilot: Aviation for the Richards Bay/Cape Town base for all personnel.
    • Ensure that human resources are managed in accordance with policies and procedures taking into account effective diversity management.
    • Relate all safety matters to Safety and Quality manager as well as Chief Pilot: Aviation, as well as oversee that such issues are resolved timelessly.
    • To constantly provide business intelligence and innovative strategies to manage increasing service demands and ensuring the deployment of assets as required to effectively manage the workload.
    • TNPA brand enhancement through portraying a professional image and excellent reputation as a leading service provider through an efficient Port system.
    • Will be required to perform any other duties assigned to him/her by the Chief Pilot: Aviation & Operations Manager: Aviation.

    IT Support Analyst

    Position Purpose

    • To provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive technical support of information technology equipment at the Transnet sites that he/she will be supporting, by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading all computer hardware and software as well as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, business phone solutions and security solutions to ensure optimal workstation performance.
    • To provide continual and reliable desktop support for all Transnet users in order that all the required business activities can continue functioning.
    • This includes all facets of the Desktop environment in order to achieve no downtime and zero call backs. Moreover, the functions of this position have become multi-functional Desktop Engineers supporting hardware, software, servers, printers, multimedia, networking and mobility and video conferencing.

    Position Output

    • Ensure uptime of network, internet, mail connectivity, end user logon access and reliability of equipment used.
    • Using hardware and software tools effectively to ensure efficient business processes.
    • Supporting end users' access to servers and basic troubleshooting.
