    Agronomist

    Role Purpose:

    • The Agronomist is to provide comprehensive support to the Senior Agronomist and Customer Facing Squads (CFS) in the seed and crop protection ideations, ensuring the successful execution and localization of new technologies and products, as well as maintaining high standards of safety, stewardship, and data management.

    Location: Bothaville
    Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

    • Planting, maintaining, and ensuring good trial execution and data collection.
    • Support the development and validation of field protocols and data.
    • Accountable for the successful execution and localisation of new hybrid testing programme and trials under farmers’ conditions to validate the
    • technologies and solutions.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers to support trial work and ensure effective execution under farmers’ conditions.
    • Support the Senior Agronomist to strengthen CFS sales trial execution and data collection.
    • Support the Senior Agronomist in planting, maintaining, and executing farmers’ day sites and competency centres.
    • Support with localised launch of new technologies and products.
    • Create customer pull by developing, positioning and/or testing new hybrids, CP programmes, traits and/or systems.
    • Accountable to develop and incorporate new products into agronomic systems and make recommendations on adjustments to cropping systems.
    • Supporting sales in seed and crop protection ideation.
    • Supporting the Customer Facing Squad (CFS) in achieving sales targets.
    • Supporting the pull at channel partner and grower level.
    • Supporting the development of a sales support strategy linked to the needs of the customer.
    • Support the Senior Agronomist with the compiling of relevant data to support individual client needs.
    • Assistance with product performance issues.
    • Assisting the Senior Agronomist in investigating product complaints, writing technical reports, and advising CFS on actions.
    • Act as technical lead and build profile as technical expert for new commercial offerings in Seed, Traits, Biologicals, and Crop Protection.
    • Responsible for building confidence and competence by training on our portfolio, products, and agronomic information.
    • Supporting knowledge transfer to all relevant parties, internal and external.
    • Supporting the Senior Agronomist with large-scale demonstrations in partnership with CFS to identify the value of programmes and ensure it is aligned to the Must Win Battles.
    • Build and maintain relationships with researchers from academic and research institutions.
    • Writing relevant articles and information brochures.
    • Drive the safety agenda.
    • Accountable for the implementation and training of stewardship and adherence to company policies, ensuring all conditions of buffers, isolation zones, seed logs, and harvest disposition are followed.
    • Accountable to maintain and implement QMS for CFTs and NTOs.
    • Collaboration with farmers and third parties to ensure all processes and SOPs are maintained in CFTs and NTOs.
    • Accountable for deregulation of new biotech.
    • Accountable for all pre-commercial data timely captured into digital platforms.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • MSc degree in Ag/Life Sciences or related discipline or BSc Degree with experience in agricultural research.
    • Superior understanding of crop production which includes relevant crops for the region.
    • Good working knowledge of Crop Protection Industry and Seed Business
    • Excellent relationship and team skills
    • Understanding of implications of actions on the achievement of BCS short-term and long-term objectives.

    Seed Sales Representative

    Role Purpose:     

    Located: Hertzogville

    • Sales of DEKALB seed direct to Customers in the commercial segment ensuring that monthly and annual Sales and Delivery targets are met.
    • Ensure realization of our commercial strategy in line with relevant KPI’s.
    • Drive business growth for our DEKALB Seeds and create demand for our CP products and Digital Farming offering.
    • Ensure compliance to corporate guidelines and compliance policies.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture and/or business administration or equivalent years of experience.
    • Solid Agricultural knowledge and understanding of local market environment.

    • Ensure delivery of forecasted results according to sales plan utilizing superior operative sales planning (RADL methodology), forecasting, and monitoring (incl. price and product flow) mechanisms and KPIs and taking timely and matching corrective actions in case of deviations from plan.
    • Closely follow up, actively share with corresponding functions, esp. marketing, and dynamically respond to opportunities, issues, market changes incl. competitor moves, adjusting tactics as required.

    Equipment Coordinator and Maintenance

    Job Purpose:

    • As the Seed Corn Field Equipment Technician at Bayer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all field equipment related to seed corn production.
    • This position requires a deep understanding of agricultural machinery, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing equipment logistics and maintenance schedules.
    • Coordinates the operational processes involving field equipment to support planting, detasseling and harvesting operations.
    • Implement and administrate maintenance programs.
    • Manage growers regarding planning and execution of various field activities such as planting, detasseling and harvesting.
    • Give weekly reports to the Field Production Lead on matters concerning mechanization

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

    Equipment Management:

    • Oversee the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of all field equipment necessary for seed corn production.
    • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated, functional, and compliant with safety standards.
    • Implement preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime during critical production periods.

    Operational Efficiency:

    • Work closely with field operations teams to optimize equipment usage and efficiency.
    • Develop strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce operational costs.
    • Monitor equipment performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.

    Logistics and Inventory Management:

    • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies required for equipment maintenance.
    • Coordinate equipment logistics, including transportation and storage, to support seasonal and operational needs.
    • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs, and maintenance activities.

    Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including agronomists, engineers, and technicians to support seed corn production goals.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to field staff on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.

    Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

    Required Qualifications: 

    • Agricultural or technical Diploma.
    • 3 Years seed production experience
    • Fluent in English
    • MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Results oriented with ability to work on own initiative
    • Strong teamwork (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
    • Establish clear direction and making decisions on a timely manner

    Plant Health Breeding Technical Trainee

    Job Purpose: 

    • Bayer is seeking an enthusiastic Technical Trainee who wants to gain practical experience and participate in opportunities to learn from genuine professionals in the field of Plant Health. 
    • The Trainee will be given the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that will provide support in their daily tasks. Within Plant Breeding, the Trainee will support the Plant Health team in delivering maize germplasm phenotyping for market relevant biotic and abiotic stresses and the deployment of native traits.

    Task and Responsibilities: 

    • To support operations of greenhouse, summer, and winter phenotyping nurseries safely, efficiently and to a high standard leading to generating high quality data for use in breeding selection decisions. 
    • Actively support Plant Pathology laboratory operations (disease diagnosis, pathogen inoculum production) and field operations (pathogen inoculation and rating). 
    • Collaborate with Seed Production team in seed production and inventory management. 
    • Get familiar with the usage of digital tools in data collection and databases and systems for data handling and analysis. 
    • Adhere to all applicable safety and environmental regulations and procedures to ensure continued compliance with in-country Health & Safety regulations. 

    Qualifications and Competencies: 

    • BSc or MSc in Plant Pathology, Agriculture, Horticulture or Biological Sciences. 
    • Basic knowledge of plant pathology/mycology and/or genetics. 
    • Basic knowledge of plant health, plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.

    Field Testing Breeding Technical Trainee

    Job Purpose:

    Job Purpose:

    • Responsible for unit/plant operations, especially to keep established timing, quality and cost standards, as well as personnel management.
    • Responsibility for plant operations and incl. QHSE requirements for the plant and personnel
