    Preventative Maintenance Artisan -Durban

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Preventative Maintenance Artisan. This opportunity exists within the Maintenance Department, based in Durban and will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The incumbent in this position will plan and execute daily preventative maintenance plans, to provide an effective and efficient maintenance service to all BTT sites. 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • N4
    • Fitter/Millwright Trade Test 
    • Minimum 12 years maintenance experience post trade test
    • Experience in a petrochemical/chemical environment advantageous
    • Good knowledge of API 650/653

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • To execute the preventive maintenance plans that has been scheduled on the computerized preventative maintenance system
    • To assist in implementing and executing a planned maintenance system that provides consistent and reliable equipment to support Operations
    • Prioritize and schedule daily work and manage time to ensure that maximum productivity is met
    • Ensure that completed preventative maintenance plans are confirmed on SAP PM electronically
    • Run SAP IW28 reports and to be proactive in terms of planning
    • Perform plant walk-abouts and equipment inspections daily with and without management, with an aim of identifying any site issues which should be rectified
    • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in good working order according to supplier’s maintenance requirements and prolong its useful life
    • Complete preventive maintenance orders timeously and ensure its overall effectiveness
    • Discuss all deviations and corrective work arising from preventive maintenance inspections with the Foreman, Planner and Mainatenance Manager
    • Ensure that quality of work done by service providers on critical equipment complies with relevant standards
    • Ensure that safety maintenance issues take priority above all other maintenance issues as per the business requirements
    • Assist in continuously monitoring expenditure and identify means to reduce costs by discussing budgets with the Maintenance team
    • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives within the organization
    • Must be able to perform standby duties when required
    • Attend morning operation meetings when required to give feedback on maintenance activities and to discuss scheduled and shutdown maintenance plans

    Preventative Maintenance Artisan -Richards Bay

    Job Advert Summary    

    • A position for Preventative Maintenance Artisan has become available within the Maintenance Department at BTT Richards Bay.
    • The purpose of the job is to plan and execute daily preventative maintenance plans, to provide an effective and efficient maintenance service to all BTT sites in Richards Bay. The incumbent will report frequently on preventative maintenance adherence, condition of assets and any deviations observed during inspections.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Good knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Welding.
    • Excellent planning skills
    • Good understanding of maintenance in a chemical and gas operation.
    • Good communication and organizational skills.
    • Be a team player and create a team environment.
    • Good knowledge of API 650/653
    • Good knowledge of ISO 9001,14001 and 45001
    • Be able to work independently.

    • Conduct inspections on compressors, chillers, pressure vessels, cylinders, air receivers, lines, hoses, pipes, pumps, guards, boilers, tanks and other equipment at BTT.
    • Inspect tanks and associated equipment, P.V. valves, isolation valves and relief valves.
    • Accurate reporting of equipment condition and propose plans for replacement or upgrades.
    • Timely completion of preventative maintenance plans.

    Work Integrated Learning

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for Work Integrated Learning for 18-months. This Opportunity exists within the Training Department,based in Kempton Park, reporting to the Training Manager. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.

    • Must have completed theoretical training for diploma and now requires practical work experience to complete their diploma in the following Qualifications:

    Operator Level 2

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for one Operator level 2 (Drumming) to join the Durban Operations Team, to ensure safe and efficient operations and efficient bulk storage operations. The candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with Maths, Science & proficiency in English
    • Minimum of 2 years’ BTT Operations experience
    • Code 8 Drivers Licence preferred

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Co-ordinate and execute site activities in accordance with BTT procedures, work instructions and planning schedule
    • Ensure that all plant equipment is well maintained, and that defective equipment is reported to the Supervisor
    • Prepare tanks, lines and equipment for operations as directed
    • Load and unload drums onto flat racks and containers as per drumming procedure
    • Activate heat systems, chillers and compressors in accordance with planned site activities
    • Responsible for signing in and out keys in accordance with the tank key control procedure
    • Ensure that there is an effective handover to ensure operational continuity
    • Report losses and gains to the Supervisor on shift
    • Assist the Supervisor in coordinating and monitoring the workflow, ensuring that all Operators are fulfilling the planned work requirements
    • Manage the effluent and separator operations to ensure no environmental damage

    COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

    • Available and willing to work shifts and overtime in accordance with the BTT Shift roster
    • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
    • Knowledge of pumps, valves, and operating procedures
    • Ability to work well within a team
    • Relevant BTT systems knowledge and experience on SAP
