    Continuous Improvement Manager

    Job Description

    • We currently have the above position available at our flexible packaging facilities and wish to invite all suitably qualified applicants to submit their details for our consideration.
    • The incumbent, reporting to the General Manager, is responsible for leading initiatives that enhance products, processes, quality systems, and outcomes. This role bridges operations, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction by identifying inefficiencies, implementing best practices, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

    Key responsibilities:

    Continuous Improvement (CI) Management

    • Develop and implement CI programs to optimize quality, efficiency, and cost savings.
    • Identify opportunities for process enhancements through data analysis, audits, and customer feedback.
    • Facilitate cross-functional teams to implement improvement projects.

    Quality

    • Manage quality teams across multiple sites, ensuring alignment in objectives and processes.
    • Train and mentor team members on quality standards and improvement practices.
    • Oversee the management, review, and improvement of Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO standards and industry regulations.
    • Conduct periodic internal audits to maintain and enhance system efficiency.
    • Monitor quality performance metrics such as defect rates, complaints, and testing outcomes.
    • Provide detailed reports on quality statistics and improvement measures to senior leadership.

    R & D and New Product Development

    • Lead the development of new flexible packaging materials (eg., films, laminates, pouches, bags) with a focus on reducing material usage and cost, increasing recyclability, and enhancing performance.
    • Define project goals, timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that packaging solutions are developed on time and within budget.
    • Document and Communicate project progress, milestones, and outcomes to senior management, customers, and external partners.
    • Develop testing protocols and validation processes for packaging properties such as barrier performance (moisture, oxygen), seal strength, puncture resistance, and overall quality.
    • Ensure the scalability of packaging solutions from the laboratory to full-scale production.
    • Stay updated on trends in sustainable packaging, including biodegradable or compostable materials, and explore their application in product development.

    Technical Review Committee (TRC) And Assurance

    • Lead the TRC to ensure products are reproducible at the highest quality.
    • Address and resolve production or design concerns with a focus on consistency and customer satisfaction.
    • Define and manage quality assurance testing requirements to meet customer and regulatory standards.
    • Oversee lab operations and testing equipment maintenance to ensure accurate, reliable results.

    Non-Conformance and Complaint Management

    • Own the NCR (Non-Conformance Report) process, including quarantine holds and release procedures.
    • Manage customer complaints and feedback, driving resolutions and ensuring closure with customers.
    • Supervise return locations and develop systems to streamline returns and minimize recurrence.
    • Leverage customer feedback to drive systemic quality improvements.

    To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or related fields.
    • In-depth knowledge of flexible packaging manufacturing processes and machinery.
    • Proven experience managing quality teams.
    • Expertise in quality testing equipment and lab operations.
    • Strong understanding of NCR, complaints management, and statistical quality tools.
    • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
    • Able to develop and implement practical and actionable continuous improvement initiatives

    Laminating Team Leader

    Job Description

    • We currently have the above position available at our flexible packaging facility and wish to invite all suitably qualified applicants to submit their details for our consideration.
    • The incumbent, reporting to the Laminating Manager, is responsible for leading the Laminating crew on shift and to operate a laminating machine to pre-set quality standards and outputs.

    Key responsibilities: 

    Duties & responsibilities: 

    • Operate the Laminator efficiently and supervise the laminating crew.
    • Ensure all jobs are produced according to customer specifications and quality standards.
    • Ensure compliance with and adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Follow the production plan and ensure the correct sequence of jobs is maintained.
    • Ensure all Returns to Stores and material transfers are completed accurately and daily.
    • Ensure all materials issued from Stores are correctly identified, counted, recorded, and signed for.
    • Ensure timesheets and production records are completed accurately, including batch numbers and required sign-offs.
    • Conduct line clearances and ensure all relevant production administration is completed.
    • Complete and maintain Blue Reel Tracking Cards for each job.
    • Ensure machines are operated at the correct speeds and settings.
    • Ensure mixing ratios are maintained according to product specifications.
    • Monitor and maintain coating weights in line with required specifications.
    • Monitor and maintain adhesive viscosity throughout the production run.
    • Ensure the department remains fully compliant with BRC and applicable food safety requirements.
    • Ensure Blade Registers are accurately completed and maintained.
    • Conduct daily OPERA meetings and ensure departmental communication boards are updated and maintained.
    • Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and workplace organisation within the department.
    • Ensure completed reels are correctly identified and transferred to the Hot Room.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, quality, safety, and continuous improvement within the department.

    To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:

    • Grade 12 qualification
    • 3 years’ experience within a Flexible Packaging environment
    • 1-3 years Laminating experience within a Flexible Packaging environment
    • Knowledge & understanding of the Laminating Process
    • Knowledge of Production Management System
    • Knowledge of all Standard Operating Procedures in the Flexible Packaging Industry
    • Problem Solving Skills

    • Good communication skills – both verbal and written

    • As the Millwright, you will report directly to the Asset Care Manager and will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems in manufacturing plants, construction sites, or industrial facilities. The role requires strong technical skills, precision, and adherence to safety protocols.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Install, align, and secure heavy machinery and mechanical equipment.
    • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot and repair faulty machinery components.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
    • Use tools such as but not limited to hoists, welders, and hand tools.

    • As a General Assistant (Coding) in the Varnishing Department, you will report directly to the Value-Added Manager and will be responsible for assisting the Varnishing operator with production tasks, and help maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

    The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:

    • Assist with machine setup, servicing, and wash-ups.
    • Maintain housekeeping and ensure the work area is clean daily.
    • Prepare jobs by removing old work, bringing the next job to the machine, and piling correctly.
    • Check quality and alignment (front and back) while piling.
    • Report irregularities to the operator or manager.
    • Break paper stacks for smoother feeding and remove waste/crease sheets.
    • Handle stack cards, job tickets, and ensure documentation follows the job.
    • Knock up, wrap, weigh, and label completed stacks, then deliver to the next operation.
    • Support varnishing by checking quality during production.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    • A minimum Grade 11 qualification
    • Previous manufacturing/ label printing experience
