    Senior Accountant

    Job Description

    • A position has opened in the Africa South Area that requires an individual to help mission leaders follow policy consistently, understand operating statements, stay within budget, and reduce defalcation risk. Mission accountants report into the Controllership function.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs moderately complex accounting functions in a variety of different settings throughout the Church.
    • Initiate general ledger and related sub-ledger file maintenance so that financial statement presentations will be accurate and meaningful.
    • Reconcile accounts, review reconciliations, and make sure that all outstanding items are properly cleared.
    • Prepare special studies and reports for departments and organizations as required.
    • Prepare journal entries and other adjustments to correct errors.
    • Analyze budget requests and explain any budgetary changes resulting from increased costs or changes in programs.
    • Consolidate accounting information for use in accounting statements and summaries.
    • Review expenditures against budget and make necessary reconciliations, investigations, and correcting entries.
    • Assist in preparing various financial estimates and expense reports.
    • Draft correspondence to appropriate parties regarding any differences that require investigation or further action.
    • Review and monitor invoices submitted for payment which exceed certain dollar amounts as defined by policy.
    • Review project accounts for compliance to policy and correspond with appropriate parties regarding the status of these projects.
    • Review & process invoices and other related payables submitted for payment in accordance with internal policies
    • In general, they work on more complex accounting activities and projects than an area accountant

    Responsibilities may also include:

    • Tax payments and government reports
    • Monitor bank balance and forecast cash need
    • Assist in banking, taxation, and other government filings in the absence of accounting clerks
    • Maintain records (physical and digital) and ledgers according to company and statutory requirement
    • Perform local unit operations as directed by the manager.

    Qualifications

    • Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend
    • 8 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a relevant university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification. A minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experiences using enterprise accounting systems (e.g. ERP platforms). A graduate degree in accounting or finance, MBA, or CPA, may be considered an equivalent of one year of this experience.
    • Incumbents must demonstrate a well-grounded knowledge of financial and accounting principles.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively use a personal computer operating in a network environment with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and automated accounting and reporting software.

    Area Production Manager - Broadcast and Video

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this position is to oversee the fulfilment production of materials and messages that invite all God's children to follow Jesus Christ. The Area Production Manager- Broadcast and Video adds strategic content fulfilment and operational value through leadership of the people and processes of designated production within the area Communications and Publishing Department (CPD). This leadership role provides qualified resources to accomplish the work in an efficient and effective way, oversees and improves the production processes, methods, and workflows within his/her stewardship, and ensures that best business practices occur. This people manager role directly oversees a group of production professional employees. This role may be actively involved in production fulfilment, the strategic decisions of a publishing division, and may regularly interface with senior leadership and/or key internal/external organizations. It may involve hands-on content and reach production requirements and the ability to administer creative fulfilment across several CPD divisions and across departments.

    Responsibilities

    • Strategically lead and manage the day-to-day video and photography production, broadcasting and event support operations and production efforts of a designated team(s) within CPD, including the management of associated staff, budgets, planning, and compliance.
    • Administrate the fulfilment of project briefs and ensure that all deliverable goals amongst teams are met.
    • Oversee high to low level content planning, design and publishing and management of proposed and approved fulfillment budgets.
    • Communicate and negotiate successfully with internal and external contacts, contractors, and customers.
    • Ensure all materials are correlation, VIO, and IP approved.
    • As a people leader, they manage a group of production professionals:
    • Help capacity meet demand through a combination of internal resource management and outsourcing and ensure the correct workforce mix is optimized to meet current demand.
    • Administer the implementation of workforce strategies and plans, including capacity planning.
    • Oversee the day-to-day activities and scheduling of a team of professionals in accomplishing the work.
    • Provide training and development to team and future key leaders.
    • In cooperation with the area human resources and CPD leadership teams, recruit and hire employees with the proper skill sets to accomplish the work.
    • Directly administer performance reviews and plans for all team members with feedback from associated area leaders.
    • Ensure that all team members possess the skills and knowledge to perform the work they have been hired to perform.
    • Exhibit a high level of proficiency in the application of the Leadership Pattern and People Management Principles.

    Builds publishing and production capacity in countries and regions across the area

    • Liaises between area and Publishing Services HQ efforts across all divisions
    • Develops the publishing and production capacity across all countries in the area
    • Manages the relationship with independent contractors and vendors including the measurement of work quality, sourcing and negotiation with new vendors, and the termination of contracts

    As a process and operational leader, they: Understand, interpret, and implement Publishing Services Department production, operating under CPD leadership.

    • Own, implement, and improve complex production processes that lie within their stewardship.
    • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the areas and disciplines supervised.
    • Maintain awareness of industry trends and how to accomplish the work efficiently and effectively.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and engage their services where appropriate.
    • Partner with producers/project managers and production professionals to identify and select video and photography production, broadcasting and event support vendors to assist in accomplishing the work.
    • Work with area project managers to establish and accomplish overall CPD vision and project goals.
    • Maintain the proper parameters of the team's work.
    • Enact proper business controls.

    As a senior specialist in video and photography production, broadcasting and event support they lead the planning, design, development, fulfilment, and production of a large number of highly diversified video, and photography, broadcasting and event support related projects simultaneously.

    • Act as a hands-on production leader and are often directly involved with production work.
    • Lead and train the production professional team and help them to produce high quality content and publishing output.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a valid Temple Recommend, or be worthy to hold one.
    • Relevant university (post-secondary) degree in a related field or equivalent post-secondary education/certification in a related field. 
    • 6 years' experience in a related field.
    • 3 years leading teams in a production environment.
    • Experience managing individual and team performance.
    • In-depth understanding of designated areas of production.
    • Ability to provide innovative direction in multiple areas of expertise.
    • Communication and diplomacy skills, translating strategy into implementation plans.
    • Budget management, forecasting, and capacity planning.
    • Presentation and communication skills to senior leaders.
    • Operational execution/collaboration skills with other businesses or external entities.
    • Understanding of product, technology, service, strategy, and business complexities.
