    Business Development Manager | Cape Town

    • Our client is a premier provider of retail investment solutions. They are seeking a results-driven, strategic, and experienced Business Development Manager to join their team in Cape Town. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a portfolio of investment-focused intermediaries, expanding market share, and driving overall strategic business growth.  

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Attract new business and increase the retention of existing investment flows.
    • Source, onboard, and activate new intermediaries for our client.
    • Achieve profitable annual sales volumes and consistently meet monthly targets by actively managing an intermediary portfolio.
    • Grow regional business via Independent Financial Intermediaries and sales, training, marketing, and client services networks.
    • Implement a structured intermediary support model to ensure effective collaboration between channels, intermediaries, and product providers.
    • Provide accurate investment, product, fund, service, and investor information.
    • Train and upskill intermediaries and their support staff to enhance advice capabilities and practice sustainability.
    • Equip intermediaries with technology, reporting tools, and business development insights to support profitable practices.
    • Drive the adoption and effective use of our client's digital platforms and web-based tools.
    • Support investment campaigns and marketing initiatives.
    • Contribute to product implementation through presentations, insights, and client service support.
    • Manage and lead the Business Development Coordinator.
    • Maintain and coordinate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure full adherence to regulatory requirements, including FAIS and FICA.
    • Promote ethical, compliant, and professional conduct across all activities at all times.

      Requirements:

    • Education: Relevant financial/investment tertiary qualification. A BCom in Investment Management or Economics and a CFP designation will be beneficial.
    • Experience: 5+ years of experience within an investment industry distribution environment.
    • Track Record: Proven sales track record within the investment industry, with extensive experience supporting and developing IFA investment practices.
    • Technical Knowledge: Deep technical knowledge of retail collective investments, Linked Investment Service Provider (LISP) platforms, financial industry structures, and market trends.
    • Licensing & Mobility: Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (role requires travel throughout the designated area of responsibility).
    • Strong relationship building, stakeholder management, and consultative skills.
    • Leadership, people management, and team collaboration abilities. 
    • Target-driven, performance-oriented, resilient, and tenacious in a sales environment.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills in both Afrikaans and English, with confidence presenting to large audiences.
    • Ability to simplify and train complex investment concepts.

    Senior Actuarial Analyst | Sandton

    • Our client is seeking a dynamic Senior Actuarial Analyst to provide technical actuarial support and coach/mentor junior analysts within their Short-Term Insurance (STI) Actuarial team. In this role, you will leverage statistical models to analyze data, calculate risk probabilities, and evaluate financial outcomes while delivering actionable insights directly to business stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Business Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement: Identify root-cause business requirements, develop clear technical solutions, and maintain proactive communication with internal actuarial and external business stakeholders.
    • Data Collection & Reconciliation: Extract, verify, and reconcile complex data across multiple sources against credible financial benchmarks, ensuring sign-off from the Technical Manager before modeling.
    • Actuarial Modeling & Deployment: Develop, maintain, and monitor fit-for-purpose actuarial models. Conduct sensitivity and impact analyses to translate pricing changes into business insights regarding profitability and policy growth across various distribution channels.
    • Insights & Reporting: Translate model performance and monitoring results into clear, accessible insights for business decision-making and presentation to actuarial management.
    • Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and coach junior analysts on technical actuarial practices, data cleaning, aggregation, and model building. Translate organizational goals into actionable local team plans.
    • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Research and implement modern modeling techniques, feature engineering, and efficient data processes to continuously enhance model accuracy.
    • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to organizational policies, relevant regulatory codes, and the professional standards set by the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA).

    Requirement:

    • Degree: Bachelor’s or Honours degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative field (Essential).
    • Professional Progression: Qualified Actuary or making solid, steady progression toward an actuarial qualification (Essential).
    • Industry Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of actuarial experience within a Short-Term Insurance (STI) environment (Essential).
    • Supervisory Experience: 1+ years of experience in supervising, coaching, or mentoring junior team members (Essential).
    • Strong proficiency in actuarial and statistical modeling software, data mining, and advanced Microsoft Office.
    • Deep foundation in advanced mathematical and statistical concepts, financial modeling, and data management.

    Actuarial Manager | Sandton

    • Our client is seeking an Actuarial Manager to lead a team of Actuarial Analysts within the Non-Life Corporate Actuarial team, reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Actuarial.  
    • In this role, you will drive the delivery of high-quality actuarial solutions that support strategic business objectives by effectively modeling, monitoring, and interpreting key metrics. You will ensure robust processes, maintain compliance with regulatory and governance standards, and provide key insights to senior stakeholders.    

    Key Responsibilities:  

    • Manage and oversee both solo and group Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) calculations and reporting to ensure full regulatory compliance.
    • Oversee end-to-end reserving processes, including methodology development, assumption setting, and engaging with business stakeholders on reserve adequacy and changes.
    • Drive ongoing IFRS 17 reporting and implementation, ensuring strict alignment with accounting and actuarial standards.
    • Work closely with the Head of Actuarial Function (HAF) and external auditors on SAM, Reserving, and IFRS 17 reviews.
    • Support the Risk team in developing and maintaining Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks, including ORSA, Risk Appetite, and Stress & Scenario testing.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of actuarial analysts, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and accountability.
    • Present actuarial insights and recommendations to senior management, Board committees, and key stakeholders to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Develop actuarial or statistical models to support pricing, capital management, and business planning.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, automation, and risk mitigation within the actuarial function.

    • Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science (Required)
    • 5+ years of actuarial experience.
    • 3+ years of actuarial experience within a Short-Term / Non-Life insurance environment.
    • 3+ years of experience in reserving, SAM, and IFRS reporting.
    • 1+ years of experience in planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives.
