    JOB SUMMARY

    The Digital communication Specialist will report to Southern Africa Corporate Affairs Director, the candidate must be skilled across the communications field. The position requires a self-starter keen to innovate, comfortable interfacing with company leadership and capable of managing and prioritizing time effectively. Highly motivated, enthusiastic with a “can do” mindset and willingness to take the initiative.

    The Digital communications specialist will;

    • Innovate and drive digital channel strategies internally and externally, including UTV, LinkedIn, IG, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

    • Maintain and manage the Africa & South Africa internal and external corporate websites

    • Take day-to-day responsibility for the building and development of UL Corporate digital platforms for the Campaign on specific communications projects.

    • Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate the Campaign’s digital platforms and campaigns.

    • Build employee engagement and advocacy for Unilever Southern Africa as a purpose-led, future-fit business.

    • Devise and commission analytical reports about digital activities that can be used to inform our development of digital platforms.

    • Track the impact of Unilever  digital presence.

    • Keep up to date with current digital trends and developments and ensure we remain timely and current in our use of digital media.

    • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.

    • Ability to write a script and manage/ give direction to produce campain videos

    • Interest in our brands, business and driving sustainability across both is a prerequisite.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    • Communications Degree or equivalent qualification

    • Over 5 years experience in a internal and external communications field,  as the job does requires a  Confident communications professional able to develop clear messages for different audiences and content formats, including on sensitive topics .

    • A team player who is highly adaptive, works well under pressure , and has a sense of humour

    • Excellent collaborator. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues to successfully execute communications projects in support of Unilever Southern Africa  ; demonstrated ability to collaborate with  internal teams, contractors, and consultants

    • Proven writing and editing skills , including various writing style for social media and other communications platforms

    • A sophisticated understanding of digital user behaviour and ability to apply these insights to develop more user-friendly experiences; Ability to identify and implement process improvements

    Communications Specialist

    Africa Supply Chain plays a vital role in keeping our consumers supplied with the products they want at the right price, driving innovation and delivering our sustainability ambition.  Staff work in factories, planning and logistics across Africa.  This is a complex operation that stretches across Africa and global supply chains but also one team with shared objectives and a common African culture.

    We want to recruit a Communications Specialist to Business Partner the Africa Supply Chain Vice President, reporting into the Africa Head of Corporate Affairs.  The role will be Johannesburg based with some travel in South Africa, part of both the Africa corporate affairs team and the Africa Supply Chain team, with full access to support and development from Unilever’s class-leading global corporate affairs and communications function.  The role is primarily employee engagement and internal communications but with some external facing work. The successful candidate will need to:

    • Innovate and use cost effective traditional and digital communication channels to engage Supply Chain teams in the leadership vision, build a team spirit and keep morale high

    • Set a strategic vision for Africa Supply Chain communications then develop a clear strategy and tactics such webcasts, townhalls, newsletters and specific campaigns such as safety.

    • Help plan and deliver Africa Supply Chain Leadership meetings to drive better alignment and clear and engaging messages

    • Support external partnerships and events to bring in outside support for our sustainability ambition in sourcing and factory operations

    • Liaise with Unilever global supply chain communications team to ensure consistent and smooth messaging

    • Celebrate and create pride in the great achievements of the Africa supply chain team inside the company and outside working with the relevant communications teams as needed

    • Support the Unilever Africa and South Africa communications teams on an ad hoc basis when an extra pair of hands is needed.

    • Work with Factory admin and HR teams to ensure seamless deployment of global and local communication campaigns across all Africa factories and plantations.

    • Manage the personal leadership communications of the Supply Chain Vice President and identify opportunities to engage with staff and leadership teams.

    The successful candidate should be a team player and self-starter, willing to take on a range of tasks from event administration to agency management or communications campaigns.  They need to have a passion for communications with experience or a keen interest and willingness to engage in and understand the factory and supply chain operations.  They will need to be comfortable working directly with senior management while equally happy driving project delivery.  They will need good interpersonal skills and be happy working with multiple stakeholders to align on delivery.

    This role requires 5 years of relevant experience with a relevant degree level qualification or another degree plus demonstrated professional experience in communications and corporate affairs.  This should include an ability to write clear simple and engaging texts and track record of innovating new ideas and exciting engagement plans.  External facing roles would be an advantage as would supply chain and partnership funding experience.

    Inland Supply Chain Finance Accountant

    MAIN JOB PURPOSE

    Overview:

    This role will manage all aspects of the P&L and Balance sheet within Supply Chain undertaking activities such as inventory reporting and stock controls, management of production cost in category P&L, CAPEX management, audit and controls and support Site teams on cost management. This role is required to maintain strong accounting controls aligned with the Global Financial Controls Framework (GFCF) and support the factory to deliver results aligned with pre-set targets linked to the Supply Chain KPIs.

    This role is also required to support the Factories with financial insights to deliver key projects and business cases throughout the year.

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Accounting controls

    Maintain strong accounting controls across all areas of Make to Deliver (MTD) and cost management in line with GAAP and UL Global controls. Support Factories through self-assessment audits and providing insights on key gaps and risks. Reporting to the SUDs and Site leadership teams on the key controls including monthly consumption variances, stock counts, inventory write offs, expired stock and stock in transit etc.

    • Cost Management and reporting

    Comprehensive understanding of all Site Contracts, costing allocation rules to derive category results per the UL SOA and CRG guidelines. Reporting of actual spend vs. target, identifying opportunities/risks and advise management. Reporting on savings in SRS and provide forecast update if savings missed/land. Cost Centre management and analysis, providing inputs and management of production cost in GCUT. Provide P&L insights to Site LTs and SUD for production cost and MUCs bridging the gap between cost centre reporting and the category results.

    • Budgeting

    Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual site budgets. E2E understanding of Operational Plan (OP) and recoveries and PCE insights in line with Factory labour structures, line speeds and run strategy. Reporting category results to FET and CCBTs.

    • CAPEX Management and reporting

    Control project authorisations, budgets, expenditures, WIP, capitalisations, forecasting and reporting as well as asset verification. Understanding CAPEX processes/UL policies, loading of projects in Marlin and reporting. Business partner with Site Engineering teams to ensure timely management of CAPEX spend and capitalisations according to project end dates. Manage the physical asset tagging post capitalisation and conduct regular asset spot checks on production lines.

    • Finance Partner- Projects and business cases

    Financial support to Site LTs and SUDs to quantify risk and rewards for key projects, business cases and initiatives. Advise management on key financial indicators for capital projects to support growth and Supply Chain deliverables.

    • Digital

    Curiosity and practical application on digital initiatives and automation of reporting in applications such as Power BI.

    • Ad-hoc

    As required, preparing adhoc tasks for Supply Chain and Finance

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    • 2 – 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain or Factory Finance required

    • Financial Acct qualification with CIMA or good progress toward CIMA OR a CA

    • Strong analytical skills

    • Ability to manage upwards

    • Strong work ethic, great attitude, self-starting & proactive mind-set, resilience in the face of pressure, strong team player

    • Ability to handle and work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines

    • Excellent business partnering skills

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel, SAP PM/FI and PA knowledge desirable

    Assistant Learning Manager Inland

    Main Job Purpose:

    To provide training and development, coordinating support to the site’s manufacturing skills strategy

    Job Summary:

    • Manages the implementation of the learning and capability building plans for teams and individuals

    • Ensure a learning strategy for inland factory and its implementation

    • Managers Learning coordinators to ensure implementation of upskilling and compliance trainings

    • Works with managers and staff to ensure that they understand the learning and capability plans

    • Provides insight on prioritization of learning and capability needs to improve performance

    Key Requirements:

    • Degree  in Mechanical/  Electrical/  Chemical/Industrial  Engineering/  Learning  highly  preferred 

    • OR  Bachelor  of Technology  in  Mechanical/  Electrical  Engineering OR  N6/  S4  in  Electrical/  Mechanical/  Instrumentation OR equivalent

    • 3years working experience in Factory Training in a Technical/ FMCG/ Manufacturing environment

    • Must be a Skills Development Facilitator –SDF with strong Skills Assessments experience

    • Manex/ WCM/TPM/ Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement and pillar lead experience preferred

    • Must have solid experience identifying and implementing training programs. Must have a wealth of experience with identifying training gaps and demonstrate how these gaps were closed

    • Must be proficient with leading training agendas and leading Learnerships/ SETA programs

    • Must have  proven  track  record  on  the  impact  of  focused  Programme  and  Development –use  of  training methodologies i.e. how this has improved productivity

    • Must have experience with SETA Grant Applications

    • Must have experience with starting up and implementing a Training/ Learning and Development systems, ability to generate reports, and build a plug-in exercise accessible across the business•*Must have depth across Training Analysis
