Requirements 

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING  

• Grade 12

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE            

• 3 years production operational experience in the agricultural environment

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING

• Applicable tertiary qualification relating to network infrastructure
• Qualified Electrical Technician will be an added advantage

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum three years’ experience in an antenna and network cabling environment with specific experience in monitoring and adherence to compliance with regard to all related legislation
• Fibre network installation experience

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Conduct site surveys to determine the current status of cabling infrastructure
• Arrange material and equipment, manage and maintain exact inventory for cabling requirements, parts, tools, and supplies
• Maintain good relationships with suppliers and business
• Plan and build cable routes and pathways using pipes and trunking where required
• Mount telecom equipment including but not limited to Access points, antenna’s, range extenders and signal boosters where required
• Run, pull, stop and splice copper and fibre cables including coaxial cables: CAT5, CAT6, SE
• Adhere to best practices, industry standards and manufacturer requirements
• Trace, test and repair existing network cables from the endpoint to the wall box and from the wall box to the switch/router
• Assist with the installation of routers, switches, Access Points etc
• Install support structures, including network cabinets, access control systems, surveillance cameras where required
• Assist with network cabinet and cable clean-ups which will include routers, switches, brush as well as patch panels
• Oversee the progress of cabling projects and/or network cabinet clean-ups are done by 3rd party service providers
• Record all monitoring documentation, processes, and procedures on the monitoring system
• Ensure that the monitoring process is aligned with OHSA and AFGRI standards
• Conduct regular monitoring inspections 
• Inform the General Manager: Engineering of any deviations of the system information
• Oversee all installations of sites especially where the height of the infrastructure may be a risk factor
• Ensure that all antennas are clearly labelled and that all components are neatly and correctly installed
• Ensure that all antennas are installed in a way that eliminates interference
• Identify additional available roof space
• Manage all changes to current installations and reconcile the antennas to the active contracts
• Adhere to all Health and Safety & Environment regulations in terms of rental space
• Assist in validating contractors that need to do maintenance on existing antennas
• Ensure electricity usage is controlled and charged correctly towards the correct contract
