KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receiving and Storing:

• Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
• Unload goods, ensure proper storage according to procedures, and enter items into the warehouse management system (WMS)
• Label and store items in appropriate warehouse locations

Order Picking and Packing:

• Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment based on client and operational requirements
• Ensure that products are packaged securely to prevent damage during transit

Inventory Management:

• Participate in regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy
• Assist with investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
• Maintain records of stock levels and report any shortages or excesses to supervisors

Loading and Dispatching:

• Assist with loading outgoing shipments onto trucks and other transport vehicles
• Ensure orders are correctly processed and prepared for dispatch in a timely manner

Health & Safety Compliance:

• Follow all company safety guidelines and operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment
• Report any hazards, safety incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of machinery

General Warehouse Duties:

• Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently
• Collaborate with other warehouse team members and departments to meet performance and quality targets

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-2 years of warehouse or logistics experience preferred
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic inventory procedures
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items, as the role requires standing, lifting, and manual labour
• Forklift operation certification is an advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Operations Management:

• Supervise handling of pallets to ensure loading, unloading, sorting, and storing of fruit products are in accordance with procedures and operational requirements.
• Ensure that all inspection operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure effective utilization of staff to ensure high level of productivity and meeting of daily targets.
• Ensure accurate inventory management.
• Ensure that the integrity of the cold chain remains intact.

Team Leadership:

• Manage, train, and motivate staff.
• Distribute work in well-balanced manner.
• Conduct regular team meetings and safety briefings.
• Compile attendance register, and report on staffing levels to Operations Manager.

Quality Control & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain high standards of housekeeping, inventory accuracy and product quality during handling of pallets.
• Liaise with teams to address and resolve any issues.

Process Improvement:

• Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and enforce operational procedures.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of daily activities, inventory levels, deviations and incidents.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to the Operations Manager.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., HACCP, Health & Safety) are an advantage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a cold storage environment.
• Experience in the fruit export industry is preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in inventory management systems (Paltrack preferred)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Support:

• Assist in supervising the loading, unloading, sorting, and storage of fruit products.
• Monitor and maintain proper temperature control and storage conditions.
• Ensure adherence to inventory management practices, including FIFO/LIFO.

Team Coordination:

• Support the Supervisor in managing staff schedules, attendance, and shift assignments.
• Act as the point of contact for warehouse staff in the Supervisor’s absence.
• Conduct on-the-job training and assist in onboarding new staff.

Quality & Compliance:

• Assist in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Perform routine quality checks and escalate issues to the Supervisor.
• Ensure safe handling and storage practices to minimize product damage or loss.

Process Monitoring & Improvement:

Administrative Duties:

• Assist with maintaining accurate records of inventory, staff activities, and incidents.
• Prepare and submit shift reports to the Supervisor and Operations Manager.

• Additional training or certification in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management is an advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cold storage, logistics, or warehouse environment.
• Previous leadership or team coordination experience is a plus.

KEY RESPOSIBILITIES:

Client Instruction Management:

• Receive and log client instructions regarding product storage, handling, and dispatch.
• Verify and clarify client requirements with the Planning Manager when necessary.
• Ensure that instructions are accurately conveyed to relevant internal departments.  All instructions must also be captured on the WMS system.

Operational Coordination:

• Schedule inbound and outbound shipments in alignment with client needs and operational capacity.
• Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure timely execution of storage, inspections and dispatch activities.
• Input all required tasks on the WMS system.
• Arrange inspection activities with the relevant authorities.
• Monitor the progress of daily tasks and escalate issues to the Planning Manager as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of product movement, including receipts, dispatches, and inventory updates.
• Prepare and distribute operational schedules and updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Generate reports on daily throughput, inventory levels, and order status for the Planning Manager.

Communication:

• Act as a point of contact for clients regarding order status and updates.
• Provide clear and timely communication between clients, the Planning Manager, and internal teams.
• Address client inquiries and escalate unresolved issues to the Planning Manager.

Compliance Support:

• Ensure that all processes align with regulatory and client-specific requirements (e.g. Special Markets, SAGAP, SOLAS, PPECB) as well as internal Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist in maintaining documentation for audits and inspections as directed by the Compliance Officer or Planning Manager.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify areas for improvement in scheduling and coordination processes.
• Provide feedback to the Planning Manager to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a diploma or degree in Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
• Training or certification in logistics or warehouse management is advantageous.

Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in logistics, planning, or warehouse coordination, preferably in a fruit cold storage environment.
• Familiarity with scheduling and warehouse management systems (WMS) is an advantage.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Lead new systems implementations.
• Perform Level 1 and 2 Warehouse Management System (WMS) configurations.
• Technical writing of Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), IOPs, and creation of process maps.
• Train users on systems and processes.
• Manage, communicate, and resolve operational, process and systems issues.
• Pro-actively identify trends, process improvements and customer need and propose and implement solutions.
• Acts as a liaison for cross-functional support teams (Administration and Operations) to achieve customer and company business objectives.
• Create and execute project plans crossing over several departments.
• Create measurable goals for projects and initiatives.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Someone with:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business Management, or a related field required 
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• 2+ years of experience, preferably in the distribution, fulfillment, transportation, or other aspects of the logistics industry
• Previous experience in WMS Solutions/ Implementation
