Purpose of the Job

• To safely carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on Trackless Mobile Machinery in line with documented work instructions.

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

• Never hand over equipment that is inappropriately maintained.
• Never do a job without receiving authorization in the form of a notification of a work order
• Perform the job as outlined in the Work Order and as per detailed Task List
• Capture history & complete the notification to the required standard.
• Confirm Work Order with the correct time and all details to the required standard.
• Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor (Trackless) on any task where there is a difference between the task instruction and the job requirements.
• Communicate if spares, equipment, or other factors were not available for job on the work order and to the Maintenance Supervisor (Trackless)
• Inform the Maintenance Supervisor regarding the deviations observed      during the inspection.
• Conduct fault-finding on hydraulic systems, internal combustion engines, transmissions, and drive lines.
• Conduct basic fault-finding on electric circulation under 24V.
• Use own judgment to assess machines from a maintenance point of view and conduct own maintenance.
• Assist in tyre changes.
• Perform isolation and issue lockout documents.
• Attend to breakdown quickly and safely.
• Capture all data related to the stoppage to aid in determining the root cause.
• Communicate ways of improving how the breakdown was handled to the Maintenance Supervisor (Trackless)
• Change out item.
• Create PM order detailing item to be drawn from stock.
• Create reservation for rotable on PM order.
• Create subsequent notification.
• Complete all fields on the “Damage” tag on the return item to rotable store.
• Physically transport damaged rotable to lay down area.

Requirements

• Relevant Trade Test
• 3 years’ experience
• N2 Mechanical Engineering

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Responsible for continuous improvement of the logistics process and managing all road transport allocations, communication, performance measure and reporting. 

BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation, and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

CUSTOMERS 

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction with Samancor Chromes Smelting and Mining operations
• Provide support to Group Logistics Export Teams

BUSINESS PROCESSES 

Process Reliability

• Analyse and report on process performance data – volume driven per site
• Conduct weekly planning across areas of responsibility through the coordination of all logistic functions
• Investigate continuous Improvement and managing of on-site material handling
• Upload of all orders on MES system for approval by line Manager
• Consolidate all export road transport / reductant and fluxes / local ore rates into approval framework and files
• Provide inputs and feedback on MES performance when placing orders
• Liaise with Master Data to keep all records of current suppliers updated with regards to loading site, change in management

Quality

• Develop and update the Process Strategy with Logistics Superintendent in order to optimise all loading relating but not limited to:
  • loading hours per site
  • truck turn-around time
  • ensure correct product is being loaded per port readiness dates from Marketing Logistics
• Provide information to Logistic Superintendent for daily, weekly and monthly reports

Process Management

• Draw up daily dispatch plan to all smelters and central logistics in accordance with monthly requirement – actual vs budget
• Collect, analyse and interpret process data and make recommendations to Logistic Superintendent
• Placement of all export road orders through MES allocations
• Capturing of all Transport data on MES and applicable files
• Assist with all audit findings consolidation

Requirements

Minimum qualifications: 

• Degree or National Diploma in Road Transport or Logistics Management,
• 4 years’ relevant experience in Road Transport or Logistics Management
