    Senior Standard Officer

    Job Description:

    • The purpose of the role is to ensure the quality and specification of materials and services purchased are according to group standards and client requirements ensuring adherence to Supply Chain policies and procedures in order to achieve objectives and client needs.
    • Conduct and/or arrange Quality Management Assessment of suppliers in terms of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.
    • Monitors and analyses the stripping & damage processes at supplier premises prior to approving quotes for any required repairs according to standards. 
    • Manage MSDS register physically and via SAP
    • Process stock applications for adding and deleting items as per group standard guidelines through the correct description and coding practices including coding of special purchases.
    • Recommend to Material Management on classification of critical insurance and other spares. 
    • Conduct inspections of materials on receipt to ensure adherence to statutory requirements such as Mine Health and Safety Act as well as approved specifications and the group’s own operating standards.
    • Investigate and resolve quality complaints and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders according to organisational procedures. 
    • Facilitate liaison between end users, suppliers and technical departments at the operation to ensure the resolution of problems/issues raised.
    • Co-ordinate and ensure supplier assessments according to organisational policies and procedures
    • Performs redundancy exercise and maintains operational OSR
    • Maintains the Group Materials Test Registers, technical library of specifications and supplier catalogues.
    • Provides site management at operations with technical information on materials to ensure the availability of pertinent and accurate information.
    • Rationalise materials by advising site management on coding and standardisation matters.
    • Analyses monthly and annual processing statistics, investigates trends and anomalies and reports findings to relevant stakeholders.
    • Function as a member of a project and co-ordinate project activities or provide input in terms of projects resource allocation.
    • Manage the disposal of company assets through activities such as auctions, direct sales and tenders

    Qualifications:

    Formal qualifications

    • Grade12/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification.
    • Logistics/Purchasing or Relevant Degree/National Diploma
    • Artisan Qualification
    • Valid Driver's License

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • At least 3 Years of Supply Chain standards/purchasing experience within the Mining industry
    • SAP Material Management previous experience preferred
    • Projects experience will be a further added advantage.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Artisan Electrician - UG Fixed Plant

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures.
    • Assign tasks to subordinates and contractors.
    • Plan activities according to production schedules and allocate resources.
    • Ensure electrical equipment and installations meet design and maintenance standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/N3 with Mathematics and Physical Science
    • Trade Certificate: Electrician
    • Medium Voltage Certification (Skills Program)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 3 – 5 years continuous experience in electrical maintenance of which a minimum of 3 years should have been in an underground mine.
    • Vienna Assessment (Dover).
    • Valid EB/Code 08 Driver's License.
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground.
    • First Aid Certificate.
    • Computer Literacy.
    • No colour blindness.
    • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

    Sound knowledge in the maintenance, repairs and fault finding of the following equipment:

    • Motor protection systems
    • Electrical safety and switching devices and practices

    General Engineering Supervisor

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Supervises and assists with coordination of engineering activities safely, efficiently and cost effectively to meet short term production objectives.
    • Manages resources to deliver maintenance and operational targets.
    • Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.

    • Preferred: Recognised Diploma or Degree in relevant discipline
    • Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience

    • Supervisory (Foreman) experience in the mining environment
    • Thorough understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment principles and ability to implement effective controls to manage risks within the section
    • The ability to develop and implement processes that require a command of highly specialised technical and basic research skills across a broad discipline

    Senior Engineering Foreman

    Job Description:

    • Assist the Operation management team in developing an operational plan for the year to support the process in achieving throughput objectives
    • Undertake to plan the spares requirements according to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure their availability
    • Liaise with the Operation management team regarding daily, weekly and monthly progress to plan, budget, and employee resources
    • Oversee that all work practices are executed in compliance with legal requirements
    • Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections around the section and the Operation
    • Plan daily, weekly and monthly work requirement and priorities with the operational team
    • Oversee the development of a healthy spirit of co-operation within the section
    • Identify operational priorities within the section that would ensure the optimization of the section’s performance
    • Allocate multi-task team members to Artisans when required to perform and ensure effective maintenance
    • Oversee that the required material, equipment, spares and staff are available to achieve the output
    • Compile accurate reports

    Qualifications:

    • Trade Certificate: Mechanical (Fitter & Turner / Boilermaker / Rigger)

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in maintenance, installation and supervision of shafts & surface Infrastructure.
    • With relative maintenance experience in maintaining winders, shafts, pumps, main ventilation fans, dams, water reticulation, refrigeration plants, conveyors and BAC.

    Materials Requirement Planning Controller

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Identify ways to support specific safety, health & sustainability opportunities and risks and ensure that materials planning activities complies with all Safety, Health & Environmental requirements.
    • Ensure the safe operation of the Physical Supply Chain environment, performing regular risk assessments, monitoring safety performance, and addressing any risks/issues immediately
    • Drive and support compliance with relevant policies and standards and particularly the Contractor Performance Management policy & procedures to enable achievement of gold-standard contractor safety performance
    • Effectively implement the Materials Plan based upon inputs from end-users and historical data analysis to meet end-user requirements at optimal inventory levels
    • Ensure the operation and output of reliable planning and suggested inventory models based on detailed inputs from end-users, MRP analysts and forecasting models to inform category decisions across the region
    • Ensure that standards and guidelines are followed pertaining to inventory management
    • Determine the fulfilment modes for material segments/items
    • Ensure that master data parameters for new and existing items are updated to the correct standards
    • Manage the working capital optimization opportunities for execution e.g., disposal of excess and obsolete stock
    • Provide strategic input into frontloading, identification and sizing of initiatives relating to working capital benefits
    • Ensure that activities related to inventory optimization events are planned, scheduled, resourced, and executed in a timely and visible manner
    • Implement inventory optimization to ensure minimum wastage at the operations to minimize De Beers carbon footprint
    • Implement network optimization opportunities to guide logistics providers in order to reduce transportation frequency which also contributes to the positive impact on the environment
    • Implement working capital optimization opportunities and identify and ensure the execution of cost reduction initiatives that positively impacts cost to serve
    • Provide input and guidance to sourcing and purchasing teams on optimal fulfilment strategies for commodity classes i.e., central v de-centralise, VMI, VOI, etc
    • Foster a culture of planning and fulfilment within areas such as purchasing, sourcing and operations
    • Sign off MRP for purchasing plans
    • Manage, monitor and release relevant requisitions required to fulfil demand placed against the warehouse
    • Support the roll-out of the Anglo American Operating Model and cross-site best practice sharing, to leverage tangible working capital benefits
    • Maintain stakeholder integration relationships with key suppliers and internal end-users (maintenance & production teams) to enable effective planning and fulfilment of demand
    • Provide specialist advice to stakeholders regarding MRP and demand planning processes
    • Create awareness and embed best practices regarding inventory and network optimization protocols
    • Support logistics activities to meet operational deadlines
    • Embrace a Supply Chain team culture of diversity and inclusiveness
    • Collaborate with the CoE to develop and implement a regional Physical Supply Chain people capability framework and development plan and be responsible for implementing the plan in the region
    • Support cross functional team interactions with internal stakeholders to execute Physical Supply Chain activities
    • Ensure personal and team compliance to internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements pertaining to all materials planning activities
    • Ensure personal and team compliance to applicable legislative requirements pertaining to all Physical Supply Chain Management activities in set portfolio

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)

    • Grade 12/ Std 10/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
    • Diploma in Supply Chain Management/Logistics Management or Inventory Management is Essential
    • SAPICS or PICS – PPIM/CPIM Certification (Advantageous)
    • 5 years supply chain planning experience in a Mining environment
    • Valid Drivers License
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) on mine
