    Case Officer

    Duties/Pligte

    • The Case Officer will work closely with the Case Coordinator to receive and record reports of staff and students who have experienced unfair discrimination, harassment, GBV, workplace incivility and victimisation, to provide holistic psycho-social support as well as training/facilitation for staff and students.

    Duties include:

    • Intake, triage, and initial assessments of cases.
    • Applying the relevant case management strategies/interventions when it comes to the administrative and logistical handling of cases/reports.
    • Monitoring all relevant cases and enquiries made in person, by email or via the online reporting tool.
    • Monitoring assessment processes and timelines from pre-intervention assessments to post-intervention follow-ups.
    • Developing engaging training and facilitation of group discussions and workshops, training sessions and lectures.
    • Performing administrative and general ad hoc tasks as required.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant social sciences or social justice related field, or equivalent proven experience in those fields (NQF 7).
    • At least two years' relevant work experience.
    • Proven understanding and experience in integrated case intake related operations.
    • Proven knowledge of social justice topics within the higher education environment, including racial injustices and gender-based violence.
    • Experience in facilitation skills and critical engagement within a student experiential learning environment.
    • Excellent work ethics such as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams, and with team members not reporting to you.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in at least two official South African languages (one of which must include English).
    • Willingness to work flexible hours (after hours and weekends, as required).
    • Proven experience in basic counselling skills.
    • Alternative dispute resolution or mediation competencies.
    • A valid driver's licence.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling

    • Experience in a similar role within the higher education sector.
    • Understanding of the role of higher education within the South African context of holistic case management processes.

    Administrative Officer (Post Level 11)

    Duties/Pligte

    The incumbent will:

    Provide administrative support for academic offering, including:

    • assessment administration for both Computer Science and Applied Mathematics; tutorial administration; external and internal moderation administration; printing teaching and learning material; SUNStudent postgraduate administration; assistance with the postgraduate annual student intake process.

    Provide computing support, including:

    • Learning Management System (SUNLearn) support; Computer Science Division website administration.

    Provide logistical support, including:

    • booking venues; liaising with timetable and assessments offices regarding class and assessment timetables; access control to the building and venues; reporting facilities' problems.
    • Provide reception services as required.
    • Oversee asset management.
    • Complete the annual research output report.
    • Answer general queries (internal and external) appropriately.
    • Assist with the organisation of departmental or divisional functions.
    • Provide other administrative support as directed by the Head of Department or Division Heads.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    • A post-school secretarial or administrative qualification (or equivalent).
    • At least three years' secretarial and/or administrative experience.
    • Knowledge and experience of administration and information systems.
    • The ability to liaise appropriately and effectively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the University.
    • Proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • The ability to work under pressure without compromising accuracy.
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform tasks independently, as well as the ability to multitask under pressure.
    • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and professional discretion.
    • The ability to work independently as well as in a team.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling

    • Prior experience of administrative work at a higher education institution.
