    Environment Officer (Mpumalanga)

    PURPOSE

    • To execute environmental assessments, inspections, monitoring and interrogation of monitoring results in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements.
    • Report on any deviations or opportunities identified.
    • Assist with the preparation of reports, the analysis of data and engaging authorities and service providers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Risk

    • Track compliance to permits, licenses and authorisations to ensure that the operation meets its license to operate obligations
    • Log any non-conformances with the environmental management program on the event management system and escalate to line
    • Ensure accurate and timeous preparation and submission of internal environmental monitoring and inspection reports
    • Assist the Environmental Superintendent / Specialist with the accurate and timeous reporting of all required company and legal environmental information
    • Support the Environmental Superintendent and line management in the development of environmentally related policies, standards and procedures
    • Attend and provide input on environmental issues in mine planning meetings.
    • Ensure that there are no deviations from EIA commitments and license conditions
    • Develop and execute environmental awareness programmes
    • Support liaison with environmental regulatory authorities with regards to reporting, auditing activities and closing out directives issued
    • Collaborate with line management and employees on addressing any shortcomings or non-conformances identified. Advise line management on mitigation measures and track preventative and corrective actions to completion
    • Provide first line support to external environmental service providers and consultants with regards to site access, logistics, quality assurance on work outputs, etc.
    • Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections and audits on air, water, land biodiversity and rehabilitation as per environmental management plan requirements
    • Capture and maintain environmental monitoring results and environmental information in the computerised environmental management system
    • Contribute to and/or facilitate environmental event investigations and the development and implementation of preventative and/or corrective actions
    • Assist in the development, control and monitoring of capital and operating budgets for the environmental function at the operation.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • MSc – Experience or Honours / BSc / BTech in Natural / Environmental Science or related field
    • Computer literacy in MS Office
    • Valid driver’s license
    • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Atleast 3 – 5 years internship or similar relevant experience in environmental management
    • Knowledge of the OHS act, Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Introduction to ISO 14001
    • Introduction to Project Management
    • Introduction to Environmental Law
    • Understanding of local environmental related legislation and reporting requirements for both company and local needs
    • Understanding of environmental challenges in the coal mining industry
    • In-depth understanding and application of environmental management systems (ISO)
    • Knowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects

    Project Engineer (Witbank)

    PURPOSE

    • This position exists to ensure the successful development of professional and high-quality technical proposals for FAMP, while also providing engineering project execution expertise for plant construction, commissioning, and transition to operations.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering standards, legal requirements, and best practices for plant construction and operation.
    • Additionally, the role will involve technical oversight in an EPCM contract environment, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder requirements

    Requirements

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Projects and proposals

    • Keep abreast with industry for relevant requests for proposals using various platforms available to the company.
    • Gain insight into project identification and opportunity identification in mineral processing.
    • Review requests for proposals to establish strategy and approach to prepare for the technical part of proposals.
    • Develop proposals and multi-disciplinary quotations for clients.
    • Develop designs, create models, and conduct tests to ensure that designs meet specifications.
    • Present engineering/technical options for project execution.
    • Identify and propose mitigation of technical and financial risks for projects in coordination with the
    • Business Support Manager, Project House(s), and other relevant stakeholders.

    Project Engineering & Execution

    • Lead plant construction projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee commissioning and transition from construction to operational phase.
    • Develop and manage project execution plans, including schedule and budget.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Structural Engineering).
    • Ensure legal compliance for structures, equipment, and works.
    • Liaise with client engineering representatives to ensure alignment with engineering standards.
    • Ensure that plant maintainability and reliability considerations are integrated during design and construction

    Client relations

    • Liaise with clients to gain alignment regarding their preferred engineering design solutions.
    • Attend site clarification meetings with clients to understand site conditions and gather information about client needs.

    Tender & Contracting

    • Develop all necessary engineering/technical documentation for the tendering process.
    • Responsible for technical/engineering part of tenders to be submitted.
    • Ensure tenders are presented to various stakeholders for approval.
    • In coordination with the Business Support Manager, ensure on-time submission of approved tenders.
    • Follow up with Clients post-submission, to address queries and maintain engagement.
    • Ensure that FA negotiates favourable contract terms with project houses and other engineering service providers using available resources within the company.
    • Review contracting conditions and mitigate identified risks in collaboration with the Business
    • Support Manager and other relevant stakeholders.

    Project Management

    • Assist the Business Support Manager in the preparation of technical execution plans and the development of the most appropriate construction method for executing the works.
    • Present execution plans for projects and provide clarifications to relevant stakeholders/committees.
    • Keep abreast with relevant engineering concepts, components/equipment, methodologies, processes, standards, etc.
    • Coordinate delivery of technical/engineering projects with regards to resources, equipment, subcontractors, etc.
    • Develop and manage schedules and budgets for each engineering/technical phase of a project.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree (B-Tech, Bsc, B Eng) Engineering/ Mechanical/ Electrical
    • GCC Mines
    • Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) – Advantageous

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 7 years in engineering and project execution for plant construction, commissioning, and operations in EPCM contract environments.
    • Strong knowledge of mining and processing plant engineering standards and legal requirements.
    • Coal, Iron Ore, PGM Processing experience will be advantageous.

    Engineer (Mpumalanga)

    PURPOSE

    • Determine standards, policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance, inspecting plant and machinery to ensure optimum performance.
    • Directing the maintenance of plant, buildings and equipment, scheduling and planning production activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Schedule of services and ensure all the paper work is in order.
    • Co-ordinate the inspection lists and delegate daily duties to the Engineering Foreman.
    • Co-ordinate the daily duties of the service supervisors. Monitor equipment availabilities on a daily basis.
    • Follow up on breakdowns as a matter of urgency.

    • Ensure data integrity on the engineering systems
    • Check and authorize job cards.
    • Stores and Stock Control
    • Monitor, sign and check all stores issued.

    • Issue a maintenance and service schedule to procurement on weekly basis for preparation to ensure resources availability spares availability.
    • Ensure Compliance to SHEQ policies, procedures, standards and applicable legislation
    • Comply with all SHEQ standards.
    • Ensure that all staff is trained and informed of and adhere to safety, health, environment and quality standards and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all PPE requirements.
    • Constantly inspect the work done to ensure that jobs are completed in line with client and quality requirements.
    • Engineering HR Function

    • Liaise with plant foreman and on a daily basis.
    • Liaise on a daily basis with the Process Manager to discuss breakdowns, availability, budget and authorization
    • Conduct daily and weekly meetings with staff to discuss and review maintenance procedures, planned maintenance, repairs and review costs against the budget.
    • Attend to any clint complaints
    • Follow up on breakdowns

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma, BSc/B-Tech Engineering Electrical or Mechanical
    • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) - Mines and Works including Factories,
    • Rail Safety Regulator (RSR) will be advantageous

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 years in a Section Engineer position, carrying a legal appointment in a Plant or Mine Environment
