    Regional Segment Manager - Industry/ Renewables (MEA)

    Description

    The opportunity

    • We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Regional Segment Manager for Industry & Renewable to join our team.
    • In this role, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and activating market segment go-to-market strategy as part of the overall Market Segment Execution plan across the Middle East and Africa regions.
    • The Segment Manager will work closely with various Country Leadership teams to drive strategic development and market share in industry and the renewables sector. Segment managers will also play a pivotal role in innovating, executing and measuring go to market programs and initiatives.

    • Working closely with Country MD and Market Mangers to identify business needs, determine key accounts, co-develop actions and timelines, and align resources in support of go-to-market activities.
    • Developing and executing segments and accounting specific profitable growth strategies and plans, including generating product value propositions and product positioning.
    • Developing and Executing channel plan, working closely with Channel Manager to identify, evaluate and develop Channels for long term partnership, be able to conduct analysis on Channel’s activities and take ownership for problems identified.

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10 years’ sales experience in electrical power equipment industry.

    • Ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
    • Demonstrate ability to confront tough issues and contribute to collaborative solutions.
    • Experience in delivering client focus solutions to customer needs.

    Associate Inspection & Testing Engineer

    Description

    The opportunity

    • You as an Associate Inspection & Testing Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy High Voltage business based in Modderfontein, South Africa.
    • You will be part of Power Grids automation reporting to the production and test manager.
    • You will be conducting functional testing of protection and control schemes to ensure cost-effective execution of project deliverables according to customer’s specifications, associates test engineer will ensure all schemes are delivered with Hitachi Energy quality standards, within schedule, and adhere to safety requirements during factory functional testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) phases.

    How you’ll make an impact

    • Supporting Test Engineers with product and system testing, preparing standard test procedures and completing test documentation, adhering to safety standards while performing duties and performing factory acceptance testing with customers.
    • Following work plans and cost estimates for work in one’s area of responsibility and ensuring quality and timely implementation within targeted cost.
    • Supporting risk assessments to assure safe systems of work and taking appropriate actions.
    • Using standard processes and tools and will be required from time to time to assist commissioning engineers on site.

    Your background

    • A bachelor’s or national diploma degree in electrical or power engineering is required.

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills and must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with other stakeholders of the project.
    • Demonstrable basic knowledge of power systems and substations, knowledge of protection relays, and testing tools like test universe are highly desirable.
    • Grasps new or unfamiliar concepts quickly and can effectively deal with complexity.

    Project Engineer - Protection

    Description

    The opportunity

    • You as a Project Engineer – Protection will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
    • Designing engineering of Substation control and protection systems leading up to site commissioning to ensure projects are executed in accordance with Hitachi Energy procedures, contract specifications and schedule commitments, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements.

    How you’ll make an impact

    • Developing together with the project core team the protection and control concepts for transmission and distribution substations in line with customer specification.
    • Developing protection and control IEDs configuration in line with customer specification and approved detailed designs.
    • Developing testing procedures to perform factory acceptance testing in conjunction with the customer to prove functionality of the designs.
    • Specification and sizing of control cabling with cable schedule design. Provide support to the commissioning team during installation and commissioning stages of the project.
    • Working closely with and provide progress information to Project Managers to ensuring timely delivery of all project milestones. Timely report to Project managers any current and potential issues that may affect the program or cost.
    • Management of quality of total engineering efforts on projects.
    • Ensuring lessons learned from all execution are analyzed and conclusions are incorporated as continuous improvement actions.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, proven ability to handle customer comments and approval responses to support project manager in project engineering is a must.
    • Providing sales and tendering support.
    • Attending site clarification meetings and perform site visits.
    • Must be eligible to travel internationally.

    Your background

    • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or National diploma (coupled with extensive related experience) is required.
    • Minimum of 6 to 10 years working experience in power systems protection and control environment.
    • General knowledge of Control / RTU Systems, Switchgear, Transformers, Substation and Power Stations and commissioning.
    • Good Technical knowledge of Power Systems protection and control.
    • ECSA registration will be advantageous.
    • Have a good communication and interpersonal skills and self-motivated analytical thinker with high level of creativity.
    • Able to work under pressure, handle stress, and to use own initiative and must be willing to work from time to time after hours to complete tenders.
    • Excellent technical report writing skills.
    • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
