    Global Fragrance Director SSA

    In this exciting role, you will:

    • Deliver profitable business growth in the different product categories for the Sub Saharan sales region unit.
    • Effectively manage and coordinate the projects pipeline, working closely with the CMI, marketing, S&T and development teams, planning and driving account activities including: defence of existing business and attacking new opportunities, ensuring the participation to the customer briefs. Identify consumer or market-led proactive opportunities with relevance for the client’s business in the region. Conduct presentations to articulate Givaudan’s value proposition and promote portfolio for each category. new concepts, technology or products.
    • Define, implement and coordinate a strategic Action plan for the cross category business in the region with clearly defined priorities in accordance with the 2025 business plan and global brand/category strategies
    • Build a continuous olfactive knowledge of the different categories and countries within your region of responsibilities. Olfactive cultural differences and similarities, olfactive preferences
    • Build and maintain winning relationships with key decision makers at this important corporate client positioning Givaudan as preferred supplier
    • Work closely with the global category account team as well as your regional counterpart to provide commercial support for the regional and local briefs, action plans, pro- active needed for your region unit.
    • Manage pricing and margins in consultation with the Category account team as well as your regional director in line with global pricing guidelines in order to maximize gross profit.
    • Support the customer care and supply chain team, internally and externally to ensure a smooth and effective customer services

    Your professional profile includes: 

    • Graduate or higher degree;
    • 5 to 7 years+ successful sales, marketing or client relationship experience in fragrance or related FMCG industry (Unilever, P&G, Colgate, L’Oreal) or B2B (sales process via projects)
    • Fluency in written and spoken English.
    • Excellent Project Management and organisation skills
    • Excellent powerpoint skills to develop and deliver sales submission presentations.
    • Strong Inter-personal skills and experience in managing activities of teams remotely;
    • Strong client services skills, adept at developing strong sales relationships with customer.   
    • Demonstrate olfactive potential and likeability to smell.
    • Global mindset Business and commercial insight and strategic thinking;

    Creation Head Sub Saharan Africa - JHB

    In this exciting role you will:

    Flavour Preparation & Evaluation:

    • Prepare flavour samples as requested for creation and applications needs, technology performance assessment, physical testing.
    • Formulate new flavour creations or modify existing flavours to meet project requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development for selected flavour types.
    • Participate in the evaluation of materials developed internally or from external sources and assess potential for flavour creation.
    • Complete daily tasks and manage assigned projects and provide flavours which meet all defined project needs, considering when relevant good manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance.

    Knowledge Sharing & Expertise:

    • When requested serve as technical expert to resolve flavour production issues and customer complaints and complete ownership of created flavours.
    • Coach, train, motivate, and mentor flavour assistants.
    • Participate and learn about all areas of the company (analytical chemistry, sensory, consumer understanding, regulatory, flavour delivery, manufacturing, etc.).
    • Contribute as technical expert and advisor to internal and external partners for ingredient and flavour performance for selected flavour types.
    • Contribute to discussions of research plans, sensory results/insights, making experimental observations and making connections to related, but separate technologies.
    • Make suggestions for future research or sensory activities.
    • Contribute to the planning of technical or sensory projects.

    Environmental Health & Safety:

    • You will maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment following EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines.

    About You:

    • Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology
    • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Flavourist after completion of the Givaudan Flavourist Trainee programme or accepted industry equivalent.
    • Experience working with sweet goods, diary, beverages
    • Expert level tasting skills with a basic level ability to understand how to adjust a flavour formulation in the direction needed for flavour modifications
    • Knowledge of raw materials and flavour ingredients for the ability to formulate selected flavour types to deliver flavour performance, problem solving processes, research and development needs, etc.
    • Relevant understanding of common flavour creation solvent and carrier systems to formulate selected flavour types
    • Basic ability to interface with internal and external partners and customers and discuss the flavour creation needs for selected flavour types Basic knowledge of local and regional regulatory requirements for flavours
    • Prepare and present basic flavour creation related technical presentations. Basic knowledge of application equipment, ingredients, and manufacturing procedures Basic knowledge of formulating suitable delivery systems for different application bases Basic knowledge of analytical methodologies (G.C. HPLC, Mass Spec.)
    • Basic knowledge of flavour manufacturing equipment and processes
    • Basic knowledge of flavour performance and be able to formulate using this data to improve flavour performance
