    Testing Specialist (Research & Development – Delmas, Mpumalanga)

    Your Challenge:

    • Responsibility to ensure all phenotyping activities are executed at assigned trial locations; from cooperator sourcing, seed preparation, planting, crop maintenance, data collection (including UAV/drones) and harvesting.
    • Works as part of a team to plan and execute experiments/trials efficiently and accurately within seasonal deadlines.
    • Interact within all programs at the station with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
    • Participate in improvement of safety programs and protocols (safety, efficiency, effectiveness) specific to direct work environment to identify and communicate potential risks and benefits.
    • Complete personal development activities as part of a performance management and development plan

    Key Stakeholders and Interactions:

    • Local Seed Product Development team and site management. Local EHS&S teams. Interaction with regional experiment owners, location stewards, field operational teams, specialized equipment operators and site operations lead.

    Qualifications

    To Grow What Matters, You Will Need

    • B.Sc. / B.Sc. Agric degree with a strong background in agronomy
    • 3 years industry-related experience required.
    • Proven ability to make timely decisions, solve problems and build consensus.
    • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people.
    • Ability to perform activities requiring broad theoretical grounding and understanding of classes of problems in a specified arena (i.e. agriculture, biology).
    • Technical and mechanical skills are a must for maintenance of agricultural equipment, to ensure excellent condition and safety of equipment and vehicles at any time.
    • Experience with UAV/drone applications in agriculture will be beneficial.
    • Proficiency in Office software such as spreadsheets, mail, calendar, and presentation software.
    • High workload with long hours, regular travelling, and weekend work during seasonal peaks
    • Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather and to stand/sit for extended periods.
    • Experimental design and data analysis.
    • Has a valid driver’s license. Experience driving a pick-up or SUV would be beneficial.

    Shipping and RMS Specialist – Delmas

    Your Challenge:

    • Review, maintain and deploy document master lists for all controlled documents and manage QMS system
    • Assign required local and global training documents to all employees based on job scope
    • Maintain RMS SharePoints and communication channels
    • Update and implement document retention policies – check that records are kept according to global retention policy
    • Collaborate with safety and process leads to write and review procedures/protocols and complete hazard and ergonomic assessments.
    • Audits – assist with internal and external RMS and ETS audits
    • Off-line user Training – ensure documents are reviewed prior to training, check that correct training is provided in the correct intervals.
    • Manage Equipt access applications for new employees, remove users when applicable and facilitate onboarding
    • Provide Import permits to exporting countries
    • Check and approve import documents prior to shipments being sent
    • Assist with clearance, provide any additional documents requested (clearance do be done by Ziegler/Fedex/DHL)
    • Check contents and receive on WWS, distribute contents to various sites where applicable.
    • Receive shipments from local sites to be exported
    • Check, pack and prepare shipments
    • Complete compliance check on WWS
    • Obtain Import permits form receiving countries
    • Apply for Phyto certificates from DALRRD
    • Check for any additional exporting requirements listed on Import permits
    • Deliver/arrange collection to courier companies
    • Apply for all Import permits (general and GMO)
    • Apply for Authorization letters
    • Complete Webcycles for payment to vendors for shipping related expenditures
    • File all documentation according to internal policies
    • Load all field inspections on internal database.

    Key Stakeholders and Interactions:

    • Africa Logistic Lead, Site Operations Leads, Seed Production Specialists, EHS Specialists, Evaluation Zone Leads, Research Scientists and routine interaction with operational team members with full accountability for their areas of responsibility. Frequent interaction and collaboration with Seed Operations teams and seed requesting teams will be key to success.

    Qualifications

    To Grow What Matters, You Will Need

    • Undergraduate degree in related field and minimum 3 years experience in a quality management system or seed logistics (or similar) environment.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of importation and exportation procedures within South Africa. Knowledge of international export and import will be beneficial.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a proven ability to work well in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual team environment. Strong ability to communicate in English is critical
    • Strong self-motivation with leadership capabilities to motivate others, initiate projects, make decisions and solve problems.
    • Excellent personal interaction skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
    • Ability to plan and communicate planning will be key to success
    • Excellent computer, data management, and data presentation skills are essential.
    • Experience in an end to end or project planning background will be beneficial
    • Experience in, or knowledge of, agricultural seed or inputs supply business will be beneficial.
