Job Description

• My client in KZN, Drakensburg area is seeking to employ a full time Farm Manager with mixed farming experience (cattle and crops).
• You must have solid experience in cattle farm management and understand and speak Zulu.
• You will be provided with a house on the farm and a company vehicle to use for work.

Cattle:        

• Inject and identify sick animals
• Brand, dehorn, castrate and tattoo calves
• Draft cattle
• Run a seasonal feedlot
• Work out rations and quantities / day / herd
• Estimate Weights
• Ear tag and Ear notch

Cropping (maize and soya):

• Spray crops, pesticides and herbicides
• Plant Crops
• Identify disease and pests
• Irrigation schedule
• Understanding of soil health and fertility
• Understanding of fertilisers
• Mixing of chemicals

Machinery:

• The use of GPS
• The use of crop maps
• Setting of the following equipment:
• Spray
• Fertiliser
• Planter
• Combine Harvester
• Pivots and Pumps
• Tractors and Tillage Equipment
• Baling Equipment
• Storage of Grains and treating thereof
• Driving machinery

General Maintenance:

• Cut and Weld well
• Strip and Fit Bearings

Responsibilities:

• Create Intelligent Flowsheets: Utilize SmartPlant P&ID to develop and manage detailed and accurate flowsheets.
• Ensure Data Accuracy: Maintain the correctness of data within the P&ID system.
• Quality Assurance: Adhere to the Department Quality Plan, ensuring all tasks are performed as required by the plan.
• Adhere to Standards: Follow all client standards and practices for drafting flowsheets as outlined in the Work Scope.
• Develop Flowsheet Designs: Create MFDs (Mechanical Flow Diagrams) and Line Lists to advance project design.

Qualifications and Experience:

• SmartPlant P&ID Experience: Proficiency in using SmartPlant P&ID is essential.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in drafting within the industry.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Support: Act as deputy for the Chief Piping Engineer and assist with project proposals.
• Design and Standards: Oversee the design and approval of all piping work, ensuring compliance with project standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Project Management: Review and approve project schedules, prepare and update various project-related standards, specifications, and indices, and ensure engineering activities are within budget and schedule.
• Technical Oversight: Check and approve piping drawings, requisitions, technical evaluations, and supplier documents, ensuring quality and addressing technical issues.
• Coordination and Mentorship: Coordinate with Procurement, provide progress reports, support construction work, mentor engineers, and suggest improvements for project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Education: BSc, BEng, BTech in a relevant field.
• Professional Registration: Professional Registered Engineer or equivalent registration.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in the industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• CAESAR II: Proficiency in CAESAR II for stress analysis.
• SmartPlant: Experience with SmartPlant reference data.

• Create and manage intelligent flowsheets using Smartplant P&ID, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to Client standards and project requirements.
• Understand and comply with the Department Quality Plan, project schedule milestones, and assist in developing project-specific procedures to enhance drafting performance.
• Navigate and utilize the SPID system effectively, supporting the development of project flowsheets, MFDs, and Line Lists.
